Mum reveals man harassed her for flying first class with her toddler
A mum revealed that she was harassed for booking her toddler a first class seat for a flight. Sharing her story of Reddit, the mum-of-one detailed the story of a difficult passenger who at one point claimed that toddlers “weren’t allowed in first class”. She explained that herself, her toddler, and her husband were travelling across the United States for Thanksgiving at the time. After her husband received a pay rise they decided to treat themselves and “splurge” on first-class seats for the family. They weren’t too worried about their daughter either, as the woman shared that her family fly frequently, so she was used to it now. “My toddler has always been a good flyer and has flown a lot throughout her short life. She’s never been disruptive or cried on an airplane, this flight included,” the woman shared. The woman added, “she’s good at staying in her seat and tells us when she needs to go potty, food, a toy, etc”. However, the unexpected tantrum this time didn’t come from her toddler, but rather another first class adult passenger. “We boarded early since my husband is disabled,” the woman wrote, “and when another first class passenger saw us he started glaring". The flight starts off well with her toddling falling asleep “in the middle of colouring” and her husband “snoozing”. Whilst the mother was listening to music she said she felt a tap on her shoulder. “It was the guy that glared at us as he boarded,” she revealed. “Before I could even get a word out he told me that children weren’t allowed in first class and that we needed to move to our ‘real’ seats.” Despite flight attendants onboard confirming that the family was allowed to be there, and asking the man to no longer speak to the woman, he continued to harass her. Whilst the man did eventually go back to his seat, the woman shared that as they disembarked the plane, he “whispered to me that I was a ‘fat c**t’ and that he pays too much money for first class to be surrounded by children”. The woman expected her family to defend her, but she shared with Reddit that “many of them told me that we should book economy next time because people pay extra to relax in 1st class.” So she took to Reddit to ask: “Are we really a******s for flying first class with our toddler?” As you would expect, readers jumped to the woman’s defence. “Even if your child did cry, it wouldn’t have mattered because you paid and are entitled to the seats you paid for,” wrote one user. Woman divides internet after refusing to attend sister’s wedding to man she ‘hates’
Woman divides internet after refusing to attend sister’s wedding to man she ‘hates’
Weddings should always be wonderful occasions, celebrating the love two people have for one another – however, it’s amazing how often they can be the source of major dramas. One woman has sparked a big reaction on Reddit after posting on the hugely popular Am I the A**hole thread about her experiences surrounding her sister’s wedding. The woman spoke about her sister, Brooke, who “has been together with Mark since freshman year of high school” and is planning her wedding. She wrote: “The problem is, I’ve known Mark since I was a kid… I was eight or so when I first met him as Brooke’s boyfriend, and I have basically hated him the whole time. I’ve tried to be polite, particularly now that we are all adults, but I just don’t want to go to the wedding of my sister and the guy she’s always put before her family.” “As an example, when Brooke and Mark started dating, Brooke went from eating dinner at home with the rest of us every night to going out two or three times a week with Mark and his friends. This was against our parent’s rules, and caused a lot of arguments that negatively impacted both me and our younger sister Jenny…” “Brooke and our parents started fighting basically every night, and it was incredibly disruptive to our home life. My sister went from being my best friend to a stranger, and Mark was the one encouraging it.” The woman went on to write that the “stress” of those experiences caused her to repeat the fourth grade after failing math. “I was bullied really badly for that,” she wrote. “I stopped going to school looking nice because there was so much tension in the home that no one was paying attention to whether or not I had clean clothes.” The woman summed up her feeling by saying: “I don’t think I should have to go to the wedding of my sister and this guy that stole her from us, and I am planning on RSVP-ing ‘no’ when the time comes.” The post got a lot of interaction from readers and the predominant opinion was pretty clear – that Mark had done nothing wrong, and the woman was blaming him for problems within her own family. One Reddit user commented: “I think you're being childish and petty over stupid s***. I think it's insane that one of your examples is she wasn't eating at home as often. Frankly you are blaming your sister for s*** you aren't entitled to. You failed math. No one else made you do that.” Another added: “Your parents sound just as immature. Why aren't you blaming them for creating a toxic home life? Why aren't you mad at them you had to take care of your younger sister? She's their child!” One more said: “Honestly I read the whole thing twice to find where Mark actually did anything bad to OP. I still haven't found it. After reading OP's parents sound like tools, making a mountain out of a mole hill. It's no wonder Brooke ran for it when the opportunity came for her to move out.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. 6 times reality TV went too far
6 times reality TV went too far
Reality TV shows are a breeding ground for controversy – especially in their infancy. Many of the snippets – and some series that went on to get cancelled for obvious reasons – have been left in the past where they belong. That said, now and again we get a subtle reminder that they did actually exist, thanks to social media. From cooking up controversy on I'm a Celebrity to a notorious moment on Joe Rogan's Fear Factor, here are six moments that simply went too far: Naked Attraction: Man gets too excited and escorted off the show The unhinged Channel 4 show once saw one man escorted off stage for getting aroused. Speaking on the Andy Jay Podcast, host Anna Richardson recalled an episode a few seasons back with a young man who was "getting a little bit excited about what was about to happen". She added: "Our lovely floor manager, Dave the floor manager, had to go 'come on' and just had to escort him off the floor for a little while, just to calm down. And then he was brought back onto set. "It all happens. Boys being boys - you can't control your anatomy, can you? So, there's been a little bit of excitement." Gino D'Acampo cooks a wild rat for dinner on I'm A Celeb Gino D’Acampo may have won series nine of I’m a Celebrity, but he certainly stirred up a storm along the way. The lack of food in camp prompted the celebrity chef to get creative, making a rat risotto with one he stumbled across in the jungle. Chief Inspector David Oshannessy, of the New South Wales RSPCA, said at the time: “The allegation is that an animal was cruelly treated on the set." He continued: "It was a rat that was killed. There is a code of conduct in New South Wales that dictates how animals can be used. The killing of a rat for a performance is not acceptable." ITV were later fined for the incident. I'm a Celebrity... 2009 - The Rat Eating Incident www.youtube.com The entire Fat Families series In recent months, attention has turned to the brutal weight loss reality show, thanks to TikTok – and many can't believe it made it on TV. Even host Steve Miller acknowledged it would not sail in 2023. In one clip re-shared online, Miller responded: "I loved presenting this show. It helped so many. But like Little Britain, I doubt it would ever be recommissioned." He added: "I think there's more chance of Santa coming down the chimney than it being recommissioned. Comedy is sadly dying!" The Sky1 show lasted two seasons before production stopped at the end of 2010. @something_about_nicky UK TV at its finest… 😆 #uk #uktv #tv The first and final episode of Who's Your Daddy? The 2005 American show was cancelled after one single episode – for very obvious reasons. For a chance to win $100,000, contestants who were adopted had to guess who their real dad was out of a lineup of 25 men. If they chose the wrong man, the biological dad got the money. At the time, a spokesperson told Variety: "It's the most emotional show we've ever put on the air... I guarantee you: if you have any heart, you'll be bawling at the end of the show." ...Or not. Who's Your Daddy Promo [2004] www.youtube.com Tyra Banks dumps 'sick' America's Next Top Model contestant in the most brutal way It was the show that had every teen girl in a chokehold over a course of 24 seasons – yet, no one truly realised how toxic it actually was at the time. Every few months, a snippet from the show crops up on social media, with people likening it to Squid Games hosted by the "sadistic" former model. One clip sees the models waiting to find out who will be eliminated. Addressing one contestant Joslyn Pennywell, Banks said: "You have such a beautiful strength, and for someone to get up and be so sick, and still to perform? That’s a survivor." Pennywell had notably been violently sick while at the CoverGirl commercial task. As she turned the card to reveal the photo, Banks plainly said: "And Joslyn, you’ll be able to survive this." It was then revealed that she had been eliminated. Pennywell broke down in tears, believing that she had been saved. Drinking donkey semen on Fear Factor Way before Joe Rogan was podcaster Joe Rogan, he was the host of Fear Factor, a stunt show that saw participants across the world battle it out for a cash prize. One scene showed twins Claire and Brynne chugging 30 and 24 ounces of donkey urine and semen, with Claire detailing it tasted bitter "with hints of hay." Mum reduced to tears as paralysed son is taken to a brothel
A mother was reduced to happy tears after detailing her son's first experience at a brothel, thanks to a famed influencer. In a viral clip posted to TikTok, Willem Powerfish (@powerfish_real) took a paralysed man named Jake, his mother Gail, his carer Banish and his best friend Kyle on Jake's first fishing trip in 12 years. Willem asked Gail about Jake's romantic relationships since his tragic car accident that left him losing all control over his body other than his mouth and and movement of his thumbs. He went on to suggest that they should take him to the brothel, telling Jake: "You can decide if you like the woman or not. If you don't like it, you don't have to do it." A snippet shows Jake being taken into the establishment, with Willem giving a thumbs up to the camera. Following Jake's experience with a sex worker, his mother said: "She said she did a few things, he got very erect so she got on top and he did the whole thing." "Unreal," she added. @powerfish_real #fyp #powerfish Speaking to the camera, Gail said: "I hope it gets through to some people that even though we have brain injuries or impairments, we still have needs." Many support workers flocked to the clip to thank the influencer, with one writing: "As a support worker of quite a few young people both female and male in all seriousness, this is so so important for so many reasons." Another added: "As a support worker, this is needed. It’s the thing people don’t talk about." "Legend status has been achieved by the Powerfish once again," a third penned. One noted: "The play-by-play from the Mom is WILD." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. The 'Truff' UFO video explained
The 'Truff' UFO video explained
We love a good UFO story here at indy100, and there’s a new video which has got people questioning what is real. Footage some are claiming to show a flying object with the letters “TRUFF” written on it zoom past the window of a plane has gone viral online. TikTok users have been sharing the video and it’s racked up millions of views, intriguing UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists everywhere. It’s not clear when it was first uploaded, but the clip has raised eyebrows across the world. The strange footage has sparked all kinds of theories, but it looks like there’s a very clear explanation for it. Truff is the name of a sauce brand, which has been known for its unusual marketing ploys over recent times. The brand’s official account also posted the video. “The video shared with the claim that the UFO was seen is an advertisement for the sauce brand called Truff,” one social media user wrote. Another even went as far as saying: “Whomever is doing your marketing needs a raise! Great stuff. Never heard of the sauce, now [it’s] on my shopping list!” UFO stories have been everywhere in 2023. One of the most compelling stories of the year so far came when a model shared what some are describing on social media as the 'best UFO footage ever' after spotting something strange during a flight. Valentina Rueda Velez, a Colombian model who goes by the username @Valentinarueda.v on Instagram, shared a clip during a recent journey on a private plane. Is Danny Duncan alive? 'Accident' in YouTube star's latest video concerns fans
Is Danny Duncan alive? 'Accident' in YouTube star's latest video concerns fans
YouTuber Danny Duncan has given his fans a fright thanks to a cleverly edited video of a car accident that appeared to show him being wiped out by a flying vehicle. The 31-year-old shared a video on his popular channel, which has more than 7 million followers and mostly consists of comedy and prank clips. His latest video, which was posted on August 23rd, is called 'We Jumped My Car Through an RV!' and does exactly what it says on the tin. It involves Duncan and his friends building a ramp so they can drive a red Mustang at high speed through the side of a beat-up old RV. However, the 11-and-a-half-minute video ends on a worrying note. As Duncan begins to introduce the challenge from inside the RV, the car appears to smash right through the side of it demolishing the vehicle before the YouTuber could get out of the way. It's the final moment of the video and we aren't given reassurances as to whether Duncan is ok or not. However, it's highly unlikely that YouTube would allow a video on its platform where someone dies. Instead, Duncan's video is actually a smart bit of editing. Eagle-eyed viewers on X/Twitter notice that Duncan isn't in the frame when the car crashes through the RV. However, the speed of the car and the editing still managed to fool people who feared that Duncan had either been killed or was seriously hurt. "This Danny Duncan Vid fake right?" wrote one person. Another added: "Nah Danny Duncan’s editors deserve a raise for sure. I really thought bro died." A third said: "Danny Duncan uploaded footage of him getting hit in the head by a car. You think he’s ok?" Yet, as explained the YouTuber is completely fine and there is no reports of him being hurt or even having a scratch on him. 'Surfer man' with long hair and shorts in 1917 photograph hailed as 'proof' of time travel
'Surfer man' with long hair and shorts in 1917 photograph hailed as 'proof' of time travel
The appearance of a long-haired surfer dude in a vintage picture from 1917 has sparked theories about time travel. The picture, titled “Last Picnic” was taken more than 100 years ago, at San Josef Bay on Vancouver Island in Canada, in 1917. It depicts a group of people, both adults and children, sitting on a hill. The outfits of most in the picture are what would be considered old-fashioned today. The women are wearing ankle-length skirts and bonnets, while most of the men are dressed in shirts and smart trousers, with some even in waistcoats and ties. But, while most of the people in the image are dressed according to the times, some eagle-eyed viewers spotted one “surfer man” who wore baggy shorts and a large t-shirt and looked like he was straight out of the 20th century. The long-haired man has seemingly attracted the attention of those around him as one man next to him appears to be staring at him, while a woman standing on the right of the image looks to be pointing in his direction. The picture was shared online by YouTuber, Jamie D. Grant, who came across the interesting picture in Lester Ray Peterson’s 1974 historical book, The Great Cape Scott Story. He questioned whether the image was “proof” of time travel, saying: “Notice the group, their clothes, their hats. Even how they sit poised for a photo. “Now look closer. His head uncovered, his hair, his shorts. The man on the left stares in disbelief. Has a mysterious traveler proved the impossible and journey through time? What do you think?” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. 17 of the funniest Rudy Giuliani mugshot memes
17 of the funniest Rudy Giuliani mugshot memes
Rudy Giuliani has become a meme...again. This time it wasn't because of a chaotic press conference held in the wrong venue or his hair dye running down his face but for the mugshot that was taken of him at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The former mayor of New York City and lawyer of ex-president Donald Trump surrendered himself to authorities on Wednesday as part of the huge case against Trump's alleged attempts to interfere in the result of the 2020 US election. Both Giuliani and Trump have been hit with racketeering charges over claims they both tried to flip the result of the vote in Georgia which saw the state favour Joe Biden over the former host of the Celebrity Apprentice. Giuliani's bond has been set for $150,000 and despite the seriousness of the situation, people cannot get enough of the man who once claimed the Time Person of the Year award now facing potential jail time. Sure enough, the 79-year-old's mugshot has already become a viral meme. Here are some of our favourites. If this wasn't too much hilarity to comprehend then just imagine what its gonna be like when Trump's mugshot finally gets released. Uber Eats driver says he waits in wealthy areas to make as much money as possible
Uber Eats driver says he waits in wealthy areas to make as much money as possible
A 22-year-old food delivery driver revealed to Insider, that he deliberate hangs around affluent neighbourhoods to try and make as much money as possible. Jay is a 22-year-old based in Philadelphia who delivers food on his bike for DoorDash and Uber Eats as a “weekend side hustle”. He shares his delivery experience with his over 140,000 TikTok followers, but never shows his face. Both DoorDash and Uber Eats include a base payments for drivers. These base payments depend partly on the distance of the delivery, occasional incentive fees to entice drivers, and any up-front tip the customer includes. Jay explains that the base pay is a large factor in how he decides which deliveries to take. Jay’s base payment is on average between $2 and $2.50, although some could be as high as $4.50. When a delivery offer comes in as low as $2 or $2.50, it means that the customer did not tip up front, according to Jay. It is possible to tip drivers after the order is delivered on both DoorDash and Uber Eats, but Jay told Insider that he was not interested in potentially wasting his time after delivering an order. Therefore, he mainly only accepts orders with the highest payments, and declines roughly 75 per cent of the order he receives. “I’m not doing this to gamble. I’m doing this to make money,” he said. “So I’m not really interested in playing the game of, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll do this person’s delivery for a guaranteed $2.50. Maybe it might be more.’ I don’t play that game. And most people don’t like to play that game.” @downtownhustle This is one od the rare times where it was worth it to deliver a @wendys order.. lol #CapCut #tiktoklive #bikedelivery #deliverydriver #ubereats #phillytok #philly #doordashdriver Both DoorDash and Uber Eats drivers keep 100 per cent of their tips. “I think people should be tipping for the premium service that they’re being provided,” he added. The New York Times, reported last week that delivery drivers tips have decreased since the pandemic. And as inflation continues to influence people’s financial decisions, and may mean people cut back on delivery tips. Alix Anfang, an Uber spokesperson, told Insider that tipping had increased since 2020. “Food delivery has always had a high tipping rate, but the average tip on a delivery increased even further by about 20 per cent” Anfang said. Speaking of waiting around in wealthier areas to get better tips, Jay shared “I’ll sit in Rittenhouse Square in the park, and I’ll get an order that’s from a fancy Italian restaurant. It’s a two-block delivery, and it ends up paying me $20 because this person doesn’t want to walk two blocks in the winter cold.” Jay added that winter is when his pay increases because there are fewer driver to compete with, and many don’t want to go out into the adverse weather conditions. Speaking to Insider, Jay said he planned to continue the gig work on the weekends. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. iShowSpeed impersonator gets millions of views by showing old streams
iShowSpeed has been in the news an awful lot recently and he’s one of the most popular streamers on the internet. So popular, in fact, that an impersonator is racking up millions of views by showing his old streams. An IShowSpeed fan account has been posting screenshots from the account, which is restreaming old content. The old streams were being picked up by plenty of fans, too. One grab showed that more than 18,000 concurrent viewers were tuning into old footage of the streamer playing Roblox. Other restreams have also been flagged by fan pages recirculating old footage. IShowSpeed hasn’t responded to the old streams yet, though – and at the moment, he’s probably got other things on his mind. The 18-year-old ended a recent stream suddenly after accidentally exposing himself to fans live on air last week. The hugely popular figure was broadcasting to 24,000 people when he accidentally flashed the camera, looking shocked after realising what he’d done instantly. The streamer, real name Darren Watkins stood up, showing his crotch, not realising that his penis was exposed The streamer has since returned to the platform and addressed the "embarrassing moment," and how it's impacted him mentally. "These past days and hours, I've been suffering very mentally, genuinely," he told viewers. "At the end of the day, I'm still a human being." He said it was "one of the worst fears" that has happened and that it's "just depressing." "You guys are joking, you guys can crack your jokes – but you're genuinely not looking a the bigger picture," he said. "Do you all know I have family, little siblings?" "I don't know what to do anymore, bro," Speed continued. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Creepy abandoned house found filled with children's toys and Barbies
Creepy abandoned house found filled with children's toys and Barbies
An abandoned home that looks completely normal on the outside has been discovered filled to the brim with children's toys. Barbie dolls and retro toy figurines fill most rooms of the house, with most of them still in pristine condition. The property was visited by professional urban explorer Dave, better known as Freaktography, who shared his findings online with shocked viewers. "Not looking like much from the outside it was quite clear that this home had been vacated or abandoned not long ago," Dave told Need to Know. "We almost passed it up as it seemed to be too new for our liking, however after finding an obvious way inside we stepped in just to see if there was anything worth shooting. "We quickly realised this was an abandoned house of toys, old retro toys from the late 70s and early 80s. "Old lunch pails, action figures, very old Barbie dolls, books, old cameras. "This house was a retro toy collector's dream." The photos showcase the wide range of toys including an old box stuffed with figurines like E.T. and a Smurf, as well as Star Wars products. Although most of the toys are in good condition, some have been played with a little too hard – one doll no longer has eyes and the face appears to be scuffed. There are also three life-sized baby dolls, a Fisherprice Movie Viewer and a Wendy Walker doll. It is not clear how long the house has been abandoned and who lived there. Social media users have been left feeling nostalgic by the findings. One person wrote: "All this stuff, it looks like my childhood, right down to the Fisherprice Movie Viewer. "It was one of my favourite toys growing up, you can’t find one any more, for anything! "It makes me feel slightly sad for whoever the kid was that owned this stuff, I know that that kid would be my age now, but I still feel sorry for them." Cathi wrote: "Looking at this house of toys one doll stands out – it was a Wendy Walker doll. "I got it when I was about 5 and she was very special to me even though I was a tomboy. "The other toys date from the 70s and very early 80s." Elisa added: "Someone needs to find that owner so those toys can be saved. “Lucky Green, The large doll in the middle of the three dolls is a rare doll from Canada." Lindsey said: "How does one know it is abandoned? Only in this house for instance that it looks like it still belongs to someone. "It seems to have been to some extent and the belongings are taken care of. "I hope any relatives can be found to claim these wonderful things before someone comes in and takes them or destroys them." Twitter users are arguing over which country has the best plug sockets - yes, really
Twitter users are arguing over which country has the best plug sockets - yes, really
When the UK Government embarrasses us on the world stage on a regular basis, us Brits will take any small win we can find, and in the latest Twitter/X debate, we’re fighting to be crowned the country with the best plug socket – yes, really. The discussion started after user Darsam shared a graphic of our three-pinned plugs and wrote: “Britons will look you straight in the eye and say ‘yeah that’s a normal power outlet wdym [what do you mean]?’” In a follow-up tweet, they posted a picture of the EU plug socket with two holes and added: “In this house we believe EU reins [sic] supreme through its normalcy and simplicity.” Except the reason why we have three pins as opposed to the two pins elsewhere is because the top pin is known as the ‘earth pin’, and as the Digital Museum of Plugs and Sockets (we think they’re pretty switched on when it comes to this stuff) explains, “shutters [for the live and neutral holes] are pushed away by pressing down the earth pin – a very common mechanism found on most British sockets”. And popular YouTube educator Tom Scott has a handy demonstration – using an unplugged extension - on his channel from 2014, in which he says: “It’s really difficult for a kid to take, say, a screwdriver and just poke it into one of the holes, ‘cause up here is earth … that’s a safety one. “These two here are live and neutral, where the actual danger is, but they’ve got shutters over them … and I cannot poke the screwdriver in there right now. “What I have to do, is plug the earth pin – which you can see is slightly longer, the brown pin here – in first, and when that goes in, little shutters come up and let the other pins in.” British Plugs Are Better Than All Other Plugs, And Here's Why www.youtube.com And while a few people offered up other plugs than the UK or EU versions, many were quick to defend Britain on this issue: So sorry, world, we have the best plugs, and you’ll just have to suck it – or, rather, socket – up… Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
