Influencer criticised for laughing at housekeeper cleaning up dog poo
Influencer criticised for laughing at housekeeper cleaning up dog poo
A Spanish influencer is in hot water after posting a video of herself laughing as her father's housekeeper picked up dog poo. Gloria Camilla Ortega has since deleted the post she made earlier this week but it has since circulated online as the clip has caused backlash. In the video, Ortega is out on a walk with one of her pet dogs along with housekeeper, Marina and the 27-year-old asks her to pick up her pet's feces. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “How does it feel Marina?” Ortega asks Marina who is reaching down to pick up the poo. “A bit warm,” Marina replied. “Very good,” the influencer commented and then informed the housekeeper that there are two more pieces of excrement to collect .Ortega can also be heard laughing just before the video ends. Reddit - Dive into anything from antiwork People have since slammed Ortega, accusing her of "humiliating" the housekeeper and calling her "vile," and "narcissistic" for making the video. Since then, Ortega - who is the daughter of Spanish bullfighter José Ortega Cano and the late singer Rocío Jurado - has responded to the hate in a new post on Thursday (May 25) to her 840,000 Instagram followers. Some of the images include herself and Marina sat together with smiley faces. “I am beginning to find your comments about Marina unbearable," she wrote in Spanish. Ortega also fired back at those calling her "classist," by accusing them of being the same. “The first classists are you,” she declared. “If I had done it with another person, friend or someone who did not ‘work for my father’ you would have taken it differently.” She then went on to describe her close relationship with Marina. “Marina is much more than an ’employee,'” she declared. “Marina is family, Marina is love, Marina is joy, she is my handkerchief, and she is like a second mother to me and I love her very much. And only those who know us know that.” Though the comment section on the video remains divided, with some still criticising the influencer. One person wrote: "How little humility you have." "I would never do that not even with my family, it's called education, respect, values etc" another person said. Someone else added: "What a way to justify yourself more poop." But also received messages of support from followers too. "If I were you, I wouldn't give these people a minute!" one person said. Another person wrote: "Don't mind them Gloria Camila. They don't give up anymore. I know what Marina means to you and your family. I love it. Looks like a very good person and very loyal." "We are with you always!!" someone else commented. Controversial TikToker 'Mizzy' blamed for disrupting Sidemen's charity match in 2022
Controversial TikToker 'Mizzy' blamed for disrupting Sidemen's charity match in 2022
Controversial TikToker Mizzy has been in the headlines recently, and now it’s been claimed that he was behind the disruptions to last year’s Sidemen charity match. The Sidemen were forced to apologise to people with tickets who weren’t able to get into the stadium for the Sidemen Charity Match on September 24. “Unfortunately however due to a small minority attempting to break into the stadium, we were forced to lock the gates meaning a number of you weren’t able to get in despite having tickets,” they said at the time. They said the choice to lock the gates and block some fans “was a security and safety decision.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Now, Stuart Jones, who is the founder of Upload Agency and Sidemen's agent, has claimed that it was Mizzy who was responsible. Writing on Twitter, he said: “For those of you who were locked out of the @Sidemen charity match last year, this was the moron that caused it btw.” Jones also claimed that Mizzy, real name Bacari-Bronze O'Garro, stole Prime Hydration drinks from VIP suites and tried to break into the stadium. "Correct, and robbing the VIP suits of all the Prime, and running around outside, trying to break in, causing the stadium to lock down,” Jones wrote, replying to another user. Footage has also recirculated online which shows Mizzy run on the pitch during the game. Mizzy was recently arrested for filming himself walking into people's houses. He also branded Piers Morgan a 'moron' for challenging him over his behaviour on his show, which saw him intimidate members of the public, including stealing someone's dog in a park. Hours before this interview, O’Garro appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community protection notice issued last May. As a result he was given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) today for a period of two years that will expire in May 2025. This order means O’Garro must not publish social media content without the consent of the people included, nor trespass or go to the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford. The infamous 'Taured man from a parallel universe’ mystery explained
The infamous 'Taured man from a parallel universe’ mystery explained
Throughout history, there have been occasional little mysteries that have centered around supposed “time travellers” claiming to be from parallel dimensions. One occurred in Ukraine back in 2006, which saw a man claiming to be from years in the past turn up in Kyiv without much in the way of explanation. Another centres around the man who tried to pass himself off as being from the non-existent country of Taured and hailing ‘from a parallel universe’. There are various stories that centre on the man from Taured, with many claiming the urban legend to be fact. The story goes that back in July 1954 a Caucasian man with a beard arrived at Haneda Airport, also known as Tokyo International Airport. After security staff grew suspicious of his identity, the passport check showed that a country called “Taured” was listed as his nationality. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “Taured”, of course, doesn’t exist. However, the man stated it had been a nation for more than 1,000 years and pointed at Andorra on the map, claiming it was located there. The Man From Taured www.youtube.com Amid the confusion, the man was taken to a hotel and put in a room. Two guards were placed outside the room until security staff were able to further investigate. Only, when the room was later opened, the man was missing. What was especially baffling was that the police established that he could not have escaped via his window as the room was too high up and there was no balcony. While many online believe the story to be gospel truth, the fact of the matter is that the truth behind the story is something much more mundane. As Snopes reports, the tale is a “greatly embellished and fantastical version of a far less sensational real story”. In reality, the site states that the story was likely inspired by the real figure of John Allen Kuchar Zegrus who presented a fake passport from the state of “Tuarid” and was swiftly arrested in Japan in 1959. While little detail is known about him, it’s thought that the man used the fake passport to travel through the Middle East before he was arrested and sentenced to a year in prison after cashing forged cheques in Japan. Painting from 1937 shows man using an 'iPhone'
Painting from 1937 shows man using an 'iPhone'
A painting from 1937 has people wondering if time travel is real after it seemingly shows a Native American man using an "iPhone" while doing the "Sorry, I have to take this call" hand gesture. The painting called Mr. Pynchon and the Settling of Springfield was created by Italian artist Umberto Romano. It depicts a colonist and founder of Springfield, Massachusetts, William Pynchon, amid the city's development. Pynchon eventually went on to write The Meritorious Price of Our Redemption in 1650, the first book to ever be banned in Boston and burned in the Boston Common, as noted in the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum. Interestingly, Vice reported that Pynchon was an ancestor of the acclaimed and elusive novelist Thomas Pynchon. This is all intriguing stuff, but what really captures the attention is that a Native American man in the image seemed to encounter a message that took him by surprise. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The image has been shared on social media with some commentary on Reddit with some concocting scenarios about the Native American and the man tied up behind him. "Looks like they are going through the tied-up guy's browser history. Thinking maybe we should untie him. He seems to be into this kinda thing," one wrote. Another added: "Sure as hell does. Including the look on guy's face, like he just saw his most recent post got downvoted into oblivion." Other people on Twitter jokingly tried to figure out what "kind" of iPhone the man was using in the picture. "Is it a gold iPhone?" one asked, while someone else added, "Space Grey?" Romano, the artist of the painting, crafted another piece of artwork that looks like a woman watching something on an iPad, despite it being painted several decades before the technology had been created. A possible explanation for the smartphone-appearing device in the Mr.Pynchon painting could be a hand mirror, a popular trade item to use. He could also be examining an axe head. Andrew Tate called a 'ghost' after reacting to 'death hoax joke' by parody news network
Misogynist Andrew Tate has responded to a parody Twitter news account that claimed he had died. The post, tweeted by the account ‘ Suspicious News’ featured a photo of Tate with the headline ‘Andrew Tate found dead in Romania after fight with James Charles.’ The tweet also had a subheading that joked ‘he was found on the floor with a full face of makeup.’ The tweet gained thousands of likes and even led to Tate himself responding. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter ‘I don’t think jokes about my death are very funny. Especially with enemies like mine’ Tate replied. He added, ‘you should be careful the negativity you put into the universe, negativity sticks to anybody who spread it.’ Suspicious News responded to Tate’s comment with a new headline that read: ‘Ghost of Andrew Tate claims James Charles didn’t kill him.’ They added ‘bro missed the ‘parody’ in bio LOL.’ James Charles is a gay makeup influencer with over 23 million subscribers. Tate who has made many homophobic remarks before, was obviously upset with the joke being made. Tate’s push back against spreading ‘negativity’ is an interesting response from someone who has based his career off of spreading hateful remarks towards minority groups. 23 of the funniest blue couch memes
Social media can be a nasty place at times, but every now and then a trend comes along which reminds you just how fun it can be. The most recent is the blue couch, which has been the talk of Twitter for the past week or so. In case you missed it, influencer Amanda Joy got a lot of people talking recently after finding a couch abandoned on the streets of New York. After doing a little research and believing it to be the $8,000 ‘Bubble’ couch from French brand Roche Bobois, she decided to take it back to her apartment and clean it up. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Joy’s dad picked up the couch in his van and Joy filmed the entire process of brightening up the sofa and moving it to her living room. The TikTok now has over 40 million views, and over 4 million likes – but not everyone thought it was a good idea to take the couch off the sidewalk. Some believed the unique-looking piece wasn’t the real deal and instead claimed it was a knockoff. Others were concerned about possible bed bugs and roach infestations, with no sign of how long the couch had been on the street. Ancient Greek statue showing 'woman using laptop' has people thinking time travel real
Ancient Greek statue showing 'woman using laptop' has people thinking time travel real
An ancient Greek statue of a woman seemingly using a laptop has sparked time travel theories online. "Grave Naiskos of an Enthroned Woman with an Attendant" is a 37-inch marble statue created around 1000 BC and shows a woman opening a laptop-like item as it's held up by an attendant. The item has two surfaces opened at a 90-degree angle, resembling a laptop. It also has two holes in the side of it, prompting theories that it could be a USB port or headphone jack- thus "proving" time travel is real. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Because the statue depicts a woman opening the laptop-like item, many are convinced the ancient Greeks were time traveling. But according to the Getty Collection, there is a reasonable explanation for the item. The item the woman is opening is actually a shadow box used in funerary by ancient Greeks. Apparently, the statue is depicting a deceased woman reaching for the shadow box held by her attendant. This "has a long history in Greek funerary art," according to the Getty Collection. It's unclear if the attendant represents a young family member in mourning or a servant or enslaved person. But the Getty Collection notes that the deceased woman came from a wealthy family. As for the USB-like holes: "The two holes apparent on its base are evidence of an ancient repair, perhaps in the form of two metal pins intended to hold a now lost marble component in place. The thinness of the box indicates that, like many works of ancient art, this relief was not intended as a photographic depiction of reality, but to convey the wealth and status of the deceased." Alas, the statue does not depict the possibility of time travel. The statue is currently available for viewing at the Getty Villa in Los Angeles, California. Have your say in our news democracy. Dude Perfect break world record for highest basketball shot
Dude Perfect break world record for highest basketball shot
The record for the highest basketball shot to be made has been absolutely annihilated by Dude Perfect in an unbelievable clip. Dude Perfect is a group known for its incredible trick shots and has recently added to its repertoire of stunning feats after making a basketball shot from 855 feet in the air. The stunt breaks the record for the World’s Highest Basketball Shot and was achieved from the top of The Strat – the tallest building on the Las Vegas Strip. The team was given three days to complete the challenge and took it right to the wire, making it on the third day of trying. With their successful shot made, it added close to 200 feet to the existing world record. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter A clip of the successful shot was shared on Twitter, while, in a longer video on their YouTube channel, the group explained how it was achieved. The team comprised Tyler Toney, twins Cory and Coby Cotton and Garrett Hilbert, who were assisted by a whole host of others, including chief creative officer, Ryan Britton. Britton helped design a 10,000-square-foot net system that would catch the basketballs and protect the rooftop. The first attempt missed the roof entirely, landing about 50 yards away and multiple more attempts missed the net by a large margin due to high winds. World's Highest Basketball Shot www.youtube.com On the second day of attempts, the team considered cancelling the challenge altogether over safety concerns but persevered until the seemingly-impossible challenge was completed on the third and final day. An infamous Ukrainian time-traveller story has finally been explained
An infamous Ukrainian time-traveller story has finally been explained
If there’s one thing we like on indy100, it’s a good time traveller story. There’s been an influx of people on TikTok claiming to be from the future over recent times, but nothing will come close to the story of Sergei Ponomarenko for sheer weirdness. In one of the most infamous cases of its kind, the story centres around a man who turned up in Kyiv, Ukraine back in 2006 claiming to be from years in the past. He told authorities that he was born in 1932. He looked the part, carrying an old-fashioned camera and a dated outfit. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The most compelling thing was that he held a Soviet document from the 1950s, which he claimed showed he was the age of 25. @bethany.gets.weird Time Traveler Sergei Ponomarenko #timetravel #ufo #conspiracy #unexplained Ponomarenko then proceeded to show people pictures that he claimed he’d taken on his camera in Kyiv. After they’d been developed, authorities found that the images did indeed show Kyiv in the 50s, and they also showed him with an unnamed woman – as well as an image that Ponomarenko claimed showed a UFO. The bizarre story took another turn when authorities looked back into the records and found a man by the same name who went missing in 1958. Strangely, they tracked down the man’s girlfriend who by that time was in her 70s. It turns out that the girlfriend was the woman in the photographs. She then told authorities that Ponomarenko had disappeared for two years and then reappeared in the 50s. Not only that, but she then received a photograph showing him as an older man, with the picture purporting to have been taken in Kyiv in 2050. It’s all kinds of weird, but the mystery might finally have been solved all these years later. YouTuber Joe Scott has delved back into the case, and come up with an explanation that might put the whole incident to bed. As Joe finds, the picture of Ponomarenko purportedly from 2050 Kyiv has been “cloned” and possibly includes the Empire State Building. More compellingly, Joe also found that the photos were taken from the Ukrainian TV show Aliens. The show discusses the possibility of extraterrestrial life and is similar to the type of show you would see on The History Channel but according to Scott has a number of inaccuracies. The Most Convincing Time Traveler Story www.youtube.com It was fun while it lasted, but it looks like the ‘time traveller’ has been busted. Have your say in our news democracy. A man's 'shrimps is bugs' tattoo has become an instant meme
Getting a tattoo is a permanent commitment which some end up regretting, like one man who took to Reddit to ask what he should cover his "Shrimps is bugs," tattoo with. In a post to Reddit's r/TattooDesigns forum, user Lewbular was looking for some inspiration for a cover-up tattoo wrote: “I need ideas for a horizontal design for this dub tattoo I got when I was 19." That tattoo itself is located on one of the guy's legs just above the knee in a simple sans-serif font "shrimps is bugs," and added the kind of design he's looking for to replace the bizarre tattoo. Cover up suggestions? by u/Lewbular in TattooDesigns But he ended up getting a different response entirely as everyone urged him to keep the original inking. One person wrote: "This may be the best tattoo I’ve ever seen. It would be a travesty to get it covered. Now, what you should do is get a frame tattoo around it." "Honestly I would just add more tattoos around it so it looks more natural. It'll blend in with the rest of them. I f***in love this tattoo. Shrimps is bugs," another person said. Someone else added: Hahahah I just love the idea that this guy got the funniest/greatest tattoo of all time, to the extent that he can’t even ask for advice on how to get rid of it b/c we all just like it so much. "19 year old you created a masterpiece, don’t go back on it now! Shrimps is bugs!!!" a fourth person commented. Since then the "shrimps is bugs" tattoo has been making rounds on other social media platforms such as Twitter where one woman shared the photo along with some Reddit comments. "Reddit is mostly bad, but this thread of a man asking for advice about covering up a tattoo, only for everyone to think he’s insane for wanting to cover up 'shrimps is bugs,'" she said. This also spurred a lot of reaction, with over 55,000 likes and users showed some love for the tattoo as well. TikTok teen who walked into random family's house deletes account following controversy
A teenager who filmed himself walking into a stranger’s house has deleted his account after strong backlash. The clip was posted by 18-year-old TikToker @secretmizzy and quickly went viral on TikTok, gathering well over 1.5 million views before it was removed. In whose eyes? I do what I’ve been doing and I know the repercussions of the things I do. Perhaps it was a bit far, however, I don’t encourage anyone to repeat my actions.” On Twitter, where the clip was reposted and remains up, it has been viewed almost 19 million times, with multiple comments about how stupid and reckless the boys’ actions were. Jet setters are swapping self-indulgence for self-care, study shows
Jet setters are swapping self-indulgence for self-care, study shows
There appears to be a cultural shift among jet setters, as people switch out self-indulgence for self-care. Traditionally, travelling tends to be the time to unwind and let loose. Now, new research from the Hilton revealed that 7 in 10 are doing so by keeping healthy habits at the forefront of their minds. A further 50 per cent of jet setters feel inspired by their wanderlust and use it to kickstart a new self-care routine. While it's easy to turn a blind eye to exercise while away, it turns out those who do make a conscious choice to work out spend almost an hour a day doing so. Walking and exploring take the top spot for Brits' favourite healthy habit on holiday, shortly followed by reading, general exercise and swimming. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter That said, leading hotel provider Hilton have listened to the people. The chain is helping travellers continue their healthy habits while away from home by partnering up with Peloton. Those staying at Hilton hotels across the UK, Germany, Canada and Puerto Rico can seamlessly integrate wellness into their travels with access to its connected fitness content. Hilton Honours members will also be gifted a 90-day free trial of the Peloton App, packed with thousands of streamed classes. While it can be challenging to remain motivated on holiday, popular Peloton instructor Bradley Rose has you covered, with five useful tips shared with Hilton: Make a plan You know the phrase: fail to prepare, prepare to fail. And staying motivated on holiday is made that much easier if you make a plan before you arrive. If you already have a rough itinerary for the trip, think about when you can build in your exercise. Depending on where I am I’ll adapt my training accordingly. Maybe wake up an hour earlier than everyone else to fit in some self-care or spend a little less time getting ready for dinner so you can enjoy a swim in the hotel pool. Choose your location carefully When planning your trip, try to visit a location with ample activity-based things to do, or choose a hotel that has a quality hotel gym and the equipment you need to make it easy to work out. Hilton has recently partnered with Peloton to bring Peloton Bikes into all hotels in the UK, making it straightforward to take your routine with you when travelling. Build it into your day Think about staying active as something to look forward to rather than a chore - in order to do this, try and build it into the activities you’re already doing. Going on an all-day excursion in the mountains? See if there’s anywhere you can hike. Open-top bus tour of the city? Scrap it and opt for a walking tour instead. Part of going to a new city or area is getting out and about and I like to go for a run or a walk. It’s enjoyable because you get to see things from a different vantage point and you’re staying active at the same time. Something short, something accessible just to move the body when I’m on holiday is a great release for me mentally and physically. Connect with others If you’re on holiday with your family, a friend or a partner, get them to join you for a workout, which always makes everything way more fun. If you can’t rope anyone in, think about a guided workout whether that’s using a Peloton Bike or App to connect with the global community - having someone there virtually to guide you or do the workout with you is great for motivation, but also means you don’t have to think about your workout structure or timings. Be flexible When I’m travelling, whether it’s for a holiday or work, the first thing I’m focussed on is not being too hard on myself. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to keep up your full workout routine on holiday, so give yourself grace and remember to set realistic goals of what you can achieve each day. If you only meet 50% of your normal exercise routine - that’s a success, a little goes a long way even if it’s just ten or twenty minutes. Amanda Al-Masri, Vice President of Wellness at Hilton, said: "Wellness can be an influential factor when it comes to holiday choices for some travellers - even when people are away, they don’t want to break their routine or healthy habits. "Expanding our industry-first partnership with Peloton allows us to offer an elevated wellness experience, whether guests are starting a fitness routine or are looking to maintain the habits they keep at home." Meanwhile, Daniel Sprung, Senior Director International, Partnerships and Commercial, Peloton: "We are constantly innovating to meet our Peloton Members and prospective Members where they are," "Expanding access to our Peloton Bike and extensive content, in partnership with Hilton, was a natural next step for our business. Those unfamiliar with our platform can engage with Peloton for the first time while at a Hilton property, and our existing, loyal Members can continue their routines on the go."
