Dragon Pizza flooded with negative Yelp reviews following Dave Portnoy argument
Dragon Pizza flooded with negative Yelp reviews following Dave Portnoy argument
An argument between the founder of Barstool Sports and American businessman, Dave Portnoy and the owner of the Dragon Pizza restaurant in Sommerville, Massachusettes has led to the pizzeria being flooded with reviews. In 2017 46-year-old Portnoy began an internet series called 'One Bite Pizza' where he does video reviews of pizza outlets throughout the United States. The popular series also has an app and its own frozen pizza range. Portnoy's series is usually well-received and has featured the odd celebrity guest and wholesome interactions with the public that have gone viral. However, his latest review has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. His review of Dragon Pizza took an unexpected turn when the owner of the restaurant, wearing a tight Star Wars t-shirt, stormed out onto the street where Portnoy was filming his review to berate the businessman. At this point, Portnoy was already a little disappointed with the food he had purchased giving it a medium rating of 6.4 but did concede that it could have been his fault for leaving it in the box too long. However, the mood soon changed when the owner confronted him. "Enjoy your pizza as any customer but I don’t appreciate what you do, coming in and judging a business with one bite," the owner yelled at Portnoy before telling him to move on. Portnoy argues back and forth with the owner, criticising his appearance and highlighting all the work and money he had raised to help and promote small businesses. Dragon Pizza has subsequently gone viral thanks to this interaction and flooded with negative reviews on Yelp which appear to have emerged since Portnoy shared his own review so it's hard to determine how genuine they are. Barstool Sports has since shared an article calling the owner 'one of the worst humans in history.' The owner previously responded to the argument a week ago (presumably when the review was filmed) with a stinging Instagram post where he wrote: "F@$K you and the Stool you came in on, Dave Douchebag. Your show sucks. You suck, and you truly are the classless tool I thought you are." In Portnoy's article he conceded that he wasn't everyone's "cup of tea" but questioned why the owner would pick a fight with him and "say that I'm bad for small business and bad for the pizza industry?" He added: "Like even my most ardent haters have to begrudgingly admit that I've done more for small business than 99.9 of private citizens in this country. It just shows how little this guy actually knows about me that he couldn't name 1 actual reason he really hated me besides "The New York Times." And that is why this guy is everything that is wrong with America right now." Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Tiffany Gomas releases new merch to help Maui wildfire victims
Tiffany Gomas releases new merch to help Maui wildfire victims
Tiffany Gomas, the woman behind the viral "not real" rant on board an American Airlines flight, has now released merchandise to help victims of the Maui wildfires. In a post to Instagram on Thursday (31 August), the marketing executive shared a snap of herself in the T-shirt. "I’m so proud to support Maui Strong through Branding Aloha’s T-shirt fundraiser," she wrote. "There is so much healing and rebuilding to do. Do your small part to help and get your T-shirt today for $36. 100% of sales proceeds are going to the Hawaii Community Foundation". The post was flooded with comments praising Gomas for her efforts. "Way to use your platform. Beautiful inside and out," one commented, while another added: "Just bought some! Awesome you’re supporting Maui!" Meanwhile, conspiracy theorists took no time in accusing her of not being the real Tiffany Gomas. One person wrote: "But is the shirt real though?" Another said: "I’m telling you right now this not same woman" A third added: "Maui dies but your doppelganger lives on." The 38-year-old was recently spotted boarding her first flight since the 2 July incident in which she claimed a fellow passenger wasn't real. Gomas told TMZ she felt a little bit of anxiety" being in the airport again, before responding to a question on what she actually saw on that initial flight. Gomas told the reporter that she had been told she "cannot comment on it right now." When asked whether people could expect an interview, she said: "The rate it's going, I feel like it's gonna have to happen. There's some things in the works, mostly non-profit charity stuff." Despite Gomas remaining tight-lipped on what she actually saw, she said she "100 per cent" was getting off the plane, and still stands by that decision. 'Ashamed' influencer pays £130k to have legs extended and now regrets it
'Ashamed' influencer pays £130k to have legs extended and now regrets it
An influencer who splurged £130,000 on leg extension surgery now has regrets. Theresia Fischer, 31, added 5.5 inches to her height after claiming her husband encouraged her to do so. Fischer, who appeared on Germany's Celebrity Big Brother, spoke on the radio station MDR, where she claimed her partner said: "Theresia, you know I like big ladies. So I would really like this. You could get up to 14cm more." She continued: "[He would say] 'You can’t do anything without me. You need me'. And if you are told that 20, 30, 60, 70 times – then you believe that you are nothing without him." Fischer said she didn't even know such surgery existed until her husband brought it to her attention. The influencer, who was 5 foot 6 inches and is now 6 feet after the surgery, had adjustable telescopic rods inserted into her shins at the age of 24. "I am ashamed because I consented to an operation that I shouldn’t have had," she said. Around the time of the procedure, Fischer reportedly claimed the operation had improved her sex life and that she followed through with it after years of bullying as a teenager. She also previously described the grueling procedure to Bild, candidly sharing how the shin bone was broken and the calf muscles were split. "You stretch your lower legs independently by holding your knee with one hand and screwing your foot inward with the other hand until it clicks," she said. "Ten clicks a day on each side bring an additional 0.5 millimetres ." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Domino's delivery driver scolds customer for not picking up order herself
Domino's delivery driver scolds customer for not picking up order herself
A Domino’s delivery driver has faced backlash after scolding a customer for not picking up their order from the store. Food delivery services are commonplace, especially in major towns and cities, and offer a convenient way for people to order food without having to leave their houses. But, one woman found she was being judged by the delivery driver for getting her food delivered a short distance. The incident was caught on a person’s doorbell camera when customer Ercina Rodriguez unexpectedly got into an argument with the person delivering her Domino’s order. In the clip, Rodriguez was asked by the person delivering her order: “You know the Domino’s is right there, right?” In an inaudible part of the clip, Rodriguez appeared to give her reasoning for why she opted for delivery, to which the delivery person replied, “Ok, that’s fair. That’s fair”. @erica.bk11 #fyp #dominos #viral Rodriguez then calmly responded: “I don’t see why I should have to explain myself to you about why I’m doing a delivery. They pay you for that, right? And you get a tip. What more do you want?” The driver shrugged their shoulders and said, “I’m just wondering”, to which Rodriguez replied, “It’s none of your business”. The TikTok has been viewed almost 700,000 times and people have been giving Rodriguez their support. One person commented: “So you paid the fee for delivery and tipped and this person asked why? I keep getting amazed every day.” “Love the way you handled that. People need to mind their own business,” another wrote. Another questioned: “Why is delivery an option then.” Someone else suggested: “I would’ve taken the tip back and called the store.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. What does a 30 percent chance of rain actually mean on the weather forecast?
What does a 30 percent chance of rain actually mean on the weather forecast?
Ever look down at your phone and see the weather forecasting “30 percent chance of rain”? Well, it turns out that for many people, those percentages don’t quite mean what they thought they did. You might assume a 30 percent chance of rain means there is a 30 percent chance that it will rain in your area. But what it actually means is a combination of a) how high the chance of rain is over any given area, and b) how much of the area it is expected to cover. “The probability of precipitation forecast is one of the least understood elements of the weather forecast,” the US National Weather Service explains. “To summarize, the probability of precipitation is simply a statistical probability of 0.01 inch [0.025 centimeters] or more of precipitation at a given area in the given forecast area in the time period specified.” It comes after an account on X/Twitter, posted a viral picture of somebody saying: “Am I the only one who thought 30% chance of rain meant it’s a 30% chance it’s gonna rain?” What actually happens is as follows. To calculate the precipitation probability, forecasters multiply how much of an area they believe will receive this much rain, by how confident they are in their prediction that rain will fall in that area. The NWS gives the following examples, which both lead to a prediction of a 40 percent chance of rain via very different weather scenarios: “(1) If the forecaster was 80% certain that rain would develop but only expected to cover 50% of the forecast area, then the forecast would read ‘a 40% chance of rain’ for any given location. “(2) If the forecaster expected a widespread area of precipitation with 100% coverage to approach, but he/she was only 40% certain that it would reach the forecast area, this would, as well, result in a ‘40% chance of rain’ at any given location in the forecast area.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Baby Alien goes viral for his reaction to Ari Alectra reveal in Fan Van video
Baby Alien goes viral for his reaction to Ari Alectra reveal in Fan Van video
TikTok star 'Baby Alien' has gone viral on social media following his emotional reaction to a video featuring him and model Ari Alectra. Baby Alien, who has more than 625,000 followers on Instagram alone, appeared on the The Fan Bus channel earlier this month where he confessed that he was still a virgin. The idea of The Fan Bus is to connect fans with their favourite OnlyFans models and let nature take its course. As the name would suggest all their content is filmed in a van. However, the account has gained a significant amount of interest since Baby Alien appeared on there with his story now being viewed more than 1.5 million times. There was so much interest that it saw an unprecedented influx of women offering to sleep with him and take his virginity. Yet on August 26th, Fan Bus selected OnlyFans model Ari Alectra to be the one to tell Baby Alien that he was going to lose his virginity that day. In the clip, Baby Alien is told that they believed Alectra was serious about sleeping with him to which he had an excited response. What he didn't realise was that Alectra was actually hiding in the back of the van waiting to surprise him. Alien was soon overcome with emotion and ran out of the van and started crying before being consoled by Alectra and told what was happening to him was real. @thefanvan_ It finally happened #fanbus #busconfessions #trueconfessions #thefanbus #hookupstory At this point, we should point out that Baby Alien does have an obscenely long tongue and does make some suggestive actions as to what he can do with it. We'll leave that to your imagination. The subsequent video has been viewed 1.2 million times with many more than delighted for Baby Alien's happy ending. One person said: "Bro couldn’t believe it." Another wrote: "I would have cried too man." A third added: "dude went through a journey of emotions." Baby Alien's popularity has stemmed from his social media content which mostly consist of lifestyle and comedy skit videos. Did Donald Trump release a rap song about being arrested?
Did Donald Trump release a rap song about being arrested?
A rap song "by Donald Trump" is making waves across social media following his arrest in Georgia last Thursday (24 August). The former president was arrested on 13 counts but adamantly denies any wrongdoing. Now, a song titled 'First Day Out' by 'Trump The Don' has racked up millions of views in a matter of days. The lyrics rap: "These DA's acting silly, my mugshot is worth a billi, sold some merch and made a milli" and "Call me racist? But these rappers riding with me, they my soldiers, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA." The track has reached almost three million views, with many being fans of the beat. One wrote: "I respect the flow! What’s a link to your real music?" Another added, "Bro this goes hard," while a third tweeted: "That’s a pretty catchy tune." "I stay out of politics but I’m not gone lie! Trump got bars," another penned. Unsurprisingly, the song is not from Trump himself. It was created by Hi-Rez The Rapper, who said he made the AI song "an absolute joke in 30 minutes." "A song I made as an absolute joke in 30 minutes now has millions of views, streams, and thousands of sales," he wrote. "We're bringing people together through comedy, music, culture, & politics. They want us divided and living in fear! We're taking back Hollywood, entertainment & the culture." In a follow up tweet, he wrote: "Btw, I will be releasing my real music in coming weeks hahaha I am just having too much fun with this sh**. Don't care who unfollows or hates it tbh I am having a blast lol!" Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Brother accused of ruining sister’s wedding after refusing to babysit nephew
Brother accused of ruining sister’s wedding after refusing to babysit nephew
A man is embroiled in a family row after leaving his sister’s wedding as he felt she was using him for “free childcare”. The 31-year-old explained that when he turned up to the wedding, his 29-year-old sister gave him a “list of times” the one-year-old who “loves to cry” would need to be away from the party - including much of the ceremony and the entirety of the reception. He was upset, and slipped out of the wedding while the grandmother was holding the baby. Since then, his family have been furious with him for ducking out and have demanded he apologise. Posting to the Am I The A**hole subreddit, the man sought opinions over whether or not he was right to leave. He explained that he was out of town, so missed the get-together the night before the wedding, but he showed up for the ceremony and the reception. The baby cries “all the time”, but usually stops if someone takes him outside for fresh air. When he arrived at the ceremony, his sister asked him to take the baby outside to calm him down. He did, and then was asked again another while later. His sister said they didn’t have a babysitter because they “spent all the money on the ceremony and parties”. He felt annoyed because he wanted to enjoy the ceremony, but everyone told him to do her the favour of minding the child because “it was her day”. The Redditor asked his sister how often she expected him to take the baby outside, resulting in her giving him a “huge list of times” he would have to leave with the child, meaning he would miss the important parts of the day including the exchanging of vows, the aisle walk, the readings, the kiss, and the reception. With all this in mind, he estimated he would only have about 30 minutes sitting inside, and the rest “was just about the baby”. He pointed this out to his sister, but she told him someone would “videotape it” for him. He asked if someone else could watch the baby because as her brother, he wanted to witness her tying the knot. But she told him to “just do it”. He said: “I was really mad, but tried not to show it on the outside. When I asked about the reception, she told me, ‘Oh, you'll have to miss out. [Baby's name] needs to be outside and has to be fed.’ “That was the final straw, and when my mother was holding the baby I slipped out and just left. “The next day I get a call from my sister, and she's screaming about how I ruined her wedding and how the baby wouldn't stop crying. “I told her that I left because she treated me like a babysitter instead of a guest/family member, and said that it was her fault if she couldn't get a nanny or ask a friend to do it. “Since then I've been nuked with calls from family calling me selfish and telling me that I'm effectively disowned unless I apologise. I see no reason to.” He concluded the post by asking for outsider opinions on whether or not he dealt with the situation appropriately. The top comment, with 16,800 upvotes, asked why she couldn’t “rotate baby duty between family members”. By not doing so, his sister implied she was “the least important person” at the wedding, they said. They added: “Plus how expensive would it have been to hire a babysitter? Or your parents could have chipped in and gotten one.” Another echoed the previous comment, writing: “I find it funny that they’re calling you selfish when it doesn’t seem like any one of them volunteered to take turns so it would be fair and you at least got to witness some parts of the wedding.” Other commenters were surprised the bride didn’t ask him if he could babysit before the big day. One commenter remarked: “She could’ve told you beforehand that you were babysitting but she tried to do it stealthy and taking your cue from her; you stealthy left.” What would you do in this situation? Twitch streamer admits defeat after letting fans ‘torture’ him in closet
Twitch streamer admits defeat after letting fans ‘torture’ him in closet
A Twitch streamer actively encouraged his fans to “torture” him as he carried out a nightmarish new challenge on the platform. The pro gamer, who goes by the name Izidore, aimed to spend three days locked in a dark closet, allowing his viewers to pay for the pleasure of tormenting him. The “torture” items on offer included a flashbang – costing just 50 Twitch bits (or $0.50/ around 88p) – or pummelling him with ping pong balls ($4/£3.17), a leafblower ($5/£3.96) or a water shooter ($15/£11.90). However, Izidore looked visibly defeated after he passed the halfway mark, and with 49 hours and 27 minutes to go, he bowed out of his makeshift hellhole. Just before he left the wardrobe, he began weeping, telling fans he couldn’t sleep, couldn’t see and couldn’t breathe. He then decided to let some “air” into the tiny room and told his girlfriend, June, who appeared at the door that he “didn’t want to stop”. However, after bursting into tears, he admitted defeat and trudged sadly out. The streamer was showered with support on Twitch chat following his sudden exit. However, he will soon have to face the dramatic forfeit he set himself. Before embarking on the task, Izidore pledged that if he quit before the 72 hours was up, he’d “total" his own car. And however baffling this whole thing might seem, it’s worth noting that Izidore isn’t the first influencer to embark upon the self-confinement exercise. He follows fellow streamer Erby who, last week, completed his own three-day stint in a pitch-black cupboard. Erby then pushed his moderator, who’s known as C0usta, to make his own attempt, promising him a new car if he should succeed. However, the 2005 Chevrolet Suburban clearly wasn't tempting enough, and C0usta quit after around 24 hours. Ahead of Izidore’s attempt, his girlfriend, June, who was tasked with hurling eggs at her partner, explained why he’d decided to give the challenge a go. “This actually isn’t his first closet stream, he’s been doing challenges for years,” she told Dexerto. “He’s good friends with Erby [...] and when C0usta quit the challenge, Izi set up the exact same challenge here to prove that he can do it.” Speculating on Izidore’s expectations, June continued: “I think he’s expecting to lose his mind and come out victorious on the other side better for it. “I honestly expect him to complete the challenge – he has been doing challenges like this for like four years and has never quit yet!” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Donald Trump's 'fingerprints' mocked following historic arrest
Donald Trump's 'fingerprints' mocked following historic arrest
Donald Trump's 'fingerprints' have been mocked on social media following his arrest on Thursday and viral mugshot which birthed a thousand memes. The former US president turned himself in to authorities in Fulton County, Georgia where he is facing charges of election interference in the aftermath of the 2020 vote, which saw the southern state vote for Joe Biden over Trump. Trump, along with 18 others including his former lawyer Rudy Guiliani are facing numerous charges including conspiracy to replace public officials with fake ones and trying to influence officials to alter the results. The already famous mugshot, which Trump is using to raise campaign funds, isn't the only body part of Trump to be mocked following his arrest. Trump despite weighing 215 lbs and standing at a towering 6ft 3in, has always been mocked for his supposedly tiny hands. As a result memes claiming to show his fingerprints have gone viral although they are so minuscule it's hard to make out that they are anything more than just dots. There were also jokes made about the fingertips being orange due to Trump's seemingly unnatural skin tone. However, not all the memes were mocking Trump. Some of his supporters capitalised on this to show a handprint that was flipping a middle finger at the booking form. Jokes aside Trump's trial date has been set but we'll have to wait a while for it to roll around as it has been set for March 4th 2024. MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan responds after Jordan Peterson labels him a 'Caucasian'
Jordan Peterson has labelled a brown man a “Caucasian”, and has unsurprisingly been slammed for doing so. British-American broadcaster and author, Mehdi Hasan, responded to the outrageous statement made about him by Peterson yesterday. Peterson, the rightwing celebrity psychology professor, posted on X/ Twitter, on 27 August. He said that Hasan was “not really brown. More like a light tan. Just like ‘white’ people.” He added: “Plus you're a Caucasian. By definition. Buddy.” In response, Hasan posted: “Nothing to see here, just Jordan Peterson, a white man, telling me I’m not brown, I’m actually white. Also, how am I a Caucasian, ‘by definition’?” Hasan is a Brit who was born to Indian parents from Hyderabad in the south of the country. They emigrated to the UK before he was born. In 2021, he tweeted that he was "tired of people telling me that I shouldn't take any pride in my south Asian heritage today, or that it has any relevance to my political views". "There's a word for this and it starts with R," he added. Hasan moved to America in 2015 to work as a producer and presenter on news TV. Now, he hosts his own show on MSNBC. It is unclear what definition of the word "Caucasian" Peterson is referring to. The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word as “belonging to the races of people who have skin that is of a pale colour”. Peterson’s bizarre attack on Hasan’s heritage was a response to a monologue by the presenter on his TV show. Hasan criticised white American conservatives’ attitudes in the wake of a mass shooting in which a white person killed three black people with an assault rifle. “Tonight, this brown Muslim is asking the white conservative community to do the same: get your house in order, crack down on the hate preachers... condemn the right of white supremacist ideology,” he said. Peterson did not respond to Hasan’s most recent post. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Elon Musk mercilessly booed and mocked at video game tournament
Elon Musk mercilessly booed and mocked at video game tournament
Elon Musk is usually right at home among large crowds of video game aficionados – but now, even they are turning against him. The billionaire, who bought Twitter last year, gutted many of its core features and renamed it X, was booed and jeered at by a large gaming crowd at the recent Valorant Champions 2023 tournament in Los Angeles. In a clip shared on X/Twitter, Musk appeared on the big screen and was immediately met with a chorus of dissent. Some of the crowd could even be heard shouting: “Bring back Twitter.” “Where’s that coming from, that can’t be from in here, surely,” one of the stream’s commentators asked. “Is that a bigger reaction than [professional Valorant player] tenZ got?” Reacting to the clip on X, one person said: “Now he’s gonna ban all valorant content on twitter or lock it behind the sub.” The person was referring to the fact that Musk has frequently cracked down on the content of rivals, such as Substack, on Twitter/X. That is despite claiming he wanted to apply a police of “free speech absolutism” on his own app. During his tenure at Twitter, Musk has also suspended reporters and left-wing accounts that drew his ire, retaliated against media outlets perceived as too liberal and ordered engineers to boost his posts after a tweet from president Joe Biden about the Super Bowl did better than his own. It's not the first time he's been booed onstage in recent times either. Musk appeared to be mercilessly jeered by audience members after being brought on stage by Dave Chappelle on 12 December. Musk was introduced by the comedian during his show at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Chappelle joked: “It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience.” In a characteristically self-aware moment after the incident, Musk called his hecklers "unhinged". The Tesla founder's leadership of Twitter, then X, has also led to a reported drop in standards across the app, with many of the company’s content moderation staff sacked late last year as he slashed headcount. And late last year, research given to the New York Times suggested there has been a sharp a rise in hate speech on the platform as a result. No wonder the gamers were unhappy with Musk. “I’m sure he’ll change it back now,” said the original poster, Jake Lucky, seemingly sarcastically. At least he’s realistic about his chances.
