Flat Earther David Weiss was left humiliated after debating a professor on the shape of our Earth. Weiss regularly interviews people on the subject on his show The Flat Earth Podcast, but threw himself into unfamiliar territory last year when he switched out being the interviewer for the interviewee. Weiss appeared on Professor Dave Explains in an episode title 'Professor Dave Humiliates Flat Earthed David Weiss'. During the hour long episode the pair debated Flat Earth believes, with Weiss claiming that the shape of the Earth came from astronomers who Professor Dave "doesn't know". "You've never met these men, you don't know anything about these men other than the stories that the controllers of this world tell you," Weiss told the academic. Like most Flat Earthers Weiss seemed to have an answer for everything, well, almost everything. Because when the discussion arrive at Earth's movement within space, Weiss struggled. "You think that we're spinning at 1000 miles an hour, and we don't feel it? And we're changing directions?" Weiss said on Earth's orbit. "How is that possible? How about when the Earth comes around towards the Sun in the winter, it's speeding up and taking its sharpest turn, and we don't feel any go those forces?" Naturally, Professor Dave made counterpoints at Weiss' argument. "Why don't you go ahead and get in a car, and do a 360 turn and make it take a year. Are you going to feel that?" Professor Dave asked Weiss, who acknowledged that it takes a year for the Earth to travel around the Sun. "Let's break it down," Professor Dave continued. "360 degrees, 365 days, that's about a degree a [day] right? Why don't you get in a car and drive for 24 hours, and over 24 hours veer by one degree. Are you going to feel that?" Gordon Ramsay has been mercilessly mocked online after sharing the supposedly inspirational advice he received from his father-in-law. The celebrity chef was talking about getting the money together for his first flat with partner Tana back in the day, when he asked her father, Chris Hutcheson, for a loan. Speaking to Jake Humphrey on the High Performance Podcast, the celebrity chef recalled how he asked Tana’s father, Chris Hutcheson, for a £20,000 loan to buy a flat. “We were young, we were stupid, we were skint,” Ramsay said. He explained how he took his father-in-law out for a meal and asked him about lending money, despite driving around in a “flash” Porsche at the time. “He said ‘Okay, here’s what I’ll do. I’ll have another lunch with you when you sell your Porsche,’” the chef said. “I thought, you f***er. But, you clever f***er. Here I am driving around in a flash 911, and we didn’t even have a house, a flat, a roof over our heads. It was the best advice he ever gave me: Sell your f***ing Porsche.” Safe to say, people didn’t exactly find the story about selling a Porsche to fund a deposit all that relatable. A bride has shared her bizarre experience in the run up to the wedding, where a friend of hers insisted that she brought her dog to the ceremony. A woman voiced her frustration in a viral Reddit thread, explaining that her friend demanded an invite for her canine companion as it was “part of the family”. The unnamed 28-year-old wrote: "My friend, Lisa, has a dog named Max that she adores. Max is a lovable but highly energetic German Shepherd." She added: "Recently, Lisa asked me if she could bring Max to my wedding. She argued that he's part of her family, and she can't imagine leaving him alone for the whole day. She wants him to be a part of our special day." The bride went on to say that she told Lisa the venue would now allow the dog to attend the ceremony, and that the decision was out of her hands. "I love Max and understand her attachment, but I was hesitant,” she wrote. “I explained that our venue doesn't allow pets, and it's a formal event. We have a lot of guests who might not be comfortable around dogs, and I don't want any potential disruptions during the ceremony or reception." The woman added: "Lisa got upset and accused me of being inconsiderate. She said she'd keep Max on a leash and make sure he doesn't bother anyone. I insisted that we have to follow the venue's rules, but Lisa won't drop it. Now she's threatening not to come to the wedding at all because Max can't be there." Eventually the pair worked out a compromise, with the bride hosting a smaller event ahead of the wedding day which meant she was able to invite Lisa. "After our initial argument, Lisa and I had a heart-to-heart conversation,” the bride wrote. “She apologized for pressuring me and said she understood my concerns about the venue's rules. We agreed that Max won't be attending the formal ceremony and reception. We found a compromise by having a small, informal gathering the day before the wedding, where Max can join us. It'll be a fun and relaxed pre-wedding get-together for close friends and family to meet Max without any disruptions to the wedding itself." The comments section was full of people criticising Lisa’s actions, with one writing: "That is a completely unreasonable request. I have never heard of a guest bringing a dog to a wedding, especially a formal indoor ceremony." Another said: "This is a completely inappropriate request. Max is a pet, not a service animal. She needs to make arrangements for him by leaving him with a friend, family member, or boarding facility. If she is incapable of being away from him for a day she needs to get mental health help." A driver on the London Underground has been filmed leading a “free Palestine” chant ahead of pro-Palestine protests in the capital. Footage, shared by social media user Ruby Lott-Lavigna, sees the driver over the speaker saying “free free” before the people on the carriage shout “Palestine”. The driver can also be heard saying: “Hope you all have a blessed day today, and look after yourselves. “His well-wishes are greeted with whoops and cheers from the crowd who listen on as he concludes by saying "and keep those people in your prayers.” Lott-Lavigna posted the video and wrote: “Central line tube driver carrying hundreds of people to the free palestine march in london leads the tube in a chant. “Says he wanted to be there but couldn’t get the day off.” Crowds converged on Downing Street on Saturday 21 October as diplomatic efforts intensified to allow access for humanitarian aid to Gaza and secure the release of hostages. Ahead of the protest, James Cleverly, the foreign secretary, reiterated the UK’s support of Israel’s right to defend itself. He also called on Israel to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Palestinians in Gaza and urged the country’s defence forces to act with “discipline” in its response to the Hamas attack. There are certain unwritten rules when it comes to travelling. Be polite, don’t invade anyone’s space, and keep your shoes on. Amid a global pandemic, perhaps we should add wearing a mask to that list, too. But there are other things you probably should - and shouldn't - do if you’re travelling on a plane, as one former flight attendant revealed. The former flight attendant took to Reddit and answered some of the most important questions about flying. There's one stamp you never want to get on your boarding pass - SSSS. If you have ever been pulled to one side at the airport, it may be because you have the letters SSSS scrawled in marker pen over your boarding pass. The letters, used by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) stand for 'Secondary Security Screening Selection' or else 'Secondary Security Screening Selectee'. The code came to light in 2009 when the TSA handbook was accidentally leaked online by the government, without being redacted or edited in the usual way. They will need to check-in at the desk, where they will be asked more thorough questions than other passengers, and undergo less cursory perfunctory identity checks. The boarding pass issued to the passenger will have the letters 'SSSS' written on it, and this means airport staff will be scrutinising the passenger at every checkpoint. TSA agents will also conduct full-body scans, a pat-down, and go through the passenger's luggage, asking them to turn on all electronic devices. The process can take over 30 minutes, so passengers who find they are unable to print their boarding pass at home, should factor in the extra half-hour in their journey to the gate, just in case they undergo secondary screening. Criteria for being selected for secondary security screening can include: Paying for your ticket in cash. Flying to a 'high risk' destination. The random selection also takes place, but some passengers will be selected repeatedly. In April 2010, the New York Times found several children who were repeatedly selected for secondary screening, possibly because their names were similar to persons on the 'No Fly' list. Passengers who feel they are regularly and unfairly targeted can apply to the Department of Homeland Security to find out if they have incorrectly been put on a watch list. We all have our own coping mechanisms when it comes to heartbreak – whether that be sobbing into a friend’s shoulder, drowning our sorrows at the pub, or consuming ungodly amounts of chocolate. But one man sought a very different form of solace when his marriage ended and, let’s just say, it all went a bit t*ts up. The man opened up about his misguided attempt to console himself in a post shared to the popular ‘Fesshole’ X/Twitter account, where people share their most personal – and mortifying – secrets. In the anonymous confession, he explained that he’d hired a unique form of stripper to keep him entertained at home but, in the end, it wasn’t the “treat” he’d imagined it would be. He wrote: “Having split from my wife I hired a naked cleaner as a treat to myself. “But I find it so awkward sitting in my house, while a young naked woman dusts that I've started going out when I know she's coming. “So I'm parked up somewhere hiding while a naked woman cleans my empty house.” The admission racked up more than 980,000 views and 7,900 likes in just three days as streams of commentators offered less-than-complimentary assessments of the situation. “Every sentence was exponentially more pathetic than the one before, well done, quite an achievement,” wrote one critic. “If watching someone clean in the nude is your idea of a treat, I can see why your wife dropped you,” added another. "Perhaps if you had a little more respect for women you'd still have a wife,” suggested a third. “You seem to be handling your divorce great, mate,” jibed a fourth. “Bro just get a regular cleaner or tell her to start wearing clothes. It would probably be a highlight in her day considering only creepy men hire her,” said a fifth. Meanwhile, others wanted to know how he’d found his… unique cleaning service. “Wondered if this was an actual thing. One US Senator has gone viral for seemingly offering a better alternative to dating apps: working for him. Republican Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley shared that he had attended the wedding of his Chief of Staff, Jennifer Heins, over the weekend which also happened to be the 20th marriage to occur from people meeting in his office. After sharing pictures of himself with the happy couple on their wedding day, many joked that they were going to delete dating apps and instead go to work for Grassley. "Who needs hinge when you've got the office of u.s. senator chuck grassley", joked one user: However some said that the shocking number perhaps meant that Grassley, 90, should resign. One user exaggerated that he had been in office "for 156 years", whilst another went for a slightly lower number of "137": Others said it was evidence that he had spent too long in office. Grassley was first elected in 1980. Another said it was evidence for the need of "term limits": Grassley isn't the only Senator to possess matchmaking abilities. A woman has turned to the internet for advice after being asked to pay to attend her friend's dinner party. Generally, when dinner parties come around, the main focus is the food, drinks and company. Not for one group of pals, though, who were hit with an invoice. Taking to Mumsnet to vent, the woman explained how "they sent us a message after asking for money for each person!" She started her rant by saying she and her partner took a "bottle of good wine" as they would never go empty-handed to someone's dinner party. The woman said they enjoyed a "good meal," but were later hit with a message asking for money. "I thought this was crazy and I would never ask anyone to pay for their food if I invited them over," she continued. She then handed the mic to fellow Mumsnet users to ask whether her feeling "a bit annoyed" was justifiable. "That’s awful behaviour," one person chimed in, adding: "What is wrong with some people?!" "That’s incredibly rude," a second person wrote. "If they couldn’t afford to host then they should have asked everyone over and to bring a plate of food. Or say come over and we will get a takeaway but would everyone mind paying for their own share." They continued: "But to ask for money afterwards is just crazy." Another user suggested she should refuse to pay. "Send them a message back saying absolutely not," they wrote. "If you want to charge then you should say costs upfront so you can make an informed choice. Don't do the polite thing and pay up. This is how the f***ers get away with it." A woman sparked a debate online after venting her frustrations towards a mother who changed her baby's nappy right next to her during a flight. Taking to a Reddit thread, the plane passenger explained how she was travelling on a four-hour flight with a "screaming" baby who kept "getting all worked up at various points". She complained about the toddler, said to be around one or two years old, who was apparently "kicking the back of my seat, sticking his feet up on my armrest, and SH***ING his pants regularly." As if that wasn't enough for the passenger's patience, she then noted that the mother "changed his diaper THREE times, IN the seat". "Didn't bother taking him to the bathroom even though she was one row up from the very back of the plane, right near it. It stunk like hell," she continued. "Ffs, one lady even had a puppy on the plane and he made zero fuss. Perfect little angel. Maybe he had had a sedative, I don't know." The woman then brutally added that parents should "either sedate their damn kids" or not be allowed to bring them on "certain flights" altogether. It didn't take long for fellow Redditors to flood the thread with their own takes, with one siding with the furious passenger. One suggested changing a nappy is a potential "biohazard". They added: "I would 100 per cent would pay extra for childfree flights though parents would scream DISCRIMINATION and then sneak their kids onto the flight somehow I’m sure because 'everybody loves babies why wouldn’t you love my precious angel who shrieks the whole ten-hour flight?!'" A TikToker has captured people’s hearts after trying Indian food for the first time and having his mind blown. With Big Brother star Yinrun trying a crisp sandwich in a heartwarming moment, it’s always nice to see someone experience the joys of trying something for the first time in their lives. American TikToker @lukefoods recently had a similar experience as he went viral after enjoying the delights of onion bhajis, a garlic naan, butter chicken curry and gulab jamun. In his video, which has been viewed 9.5 million times, Luke could be seen sitting in his car having just picked up his takeaway order from an Indian restaurant. Luke first tried the onion bhaji, saying it reminded him of an onion ring. Next, he sampled the garlic naan, which is when his mind truly started to melt. After taking a bite, Luke said: “That seasoning is out of this world. It has a nice garlic parmesan taste and that is cooked to perfection. With spooky season well and truly upon us, one expert has explored how people can keep themselves safe from a zombie apocalypse. While the scenario is incredibly unlikely, fictional stories have always been a popular plot through some of the world's most famous literature, films and TV series, including Netflix's All Of Us Are Dead. Now, zombie survival expert, Lewis Dartnell, author of The Knowledge: How to Rebuild our World after an Apocalypse, has partnered with Toolstation to share a guide in the event of a hypothetical zombie apocalypse. Here are seven of Dartnell's top tips – that we hope none of us ever have to use: Step 1: At the start of everything, you will want to lay low. Make sure you are prepped with a few days’ worth of food and water and stay inside. It would be wise to blackout windows with bin liners and barricade doors or any other entry points. Step 2: Plan your route out of your town or city, a crowded area is the last place you want to be, so getting out is necessary. Plan a route that avoids main roads and use the darkness of night to cover yourself. Try to stick to your route but be prepared to adapt if anything goes wrong. Step 3: Find yourself a good set of wheels, ideally a sturdy 4x4 that can take some damage and handle off-road driving. You’ll need a vehicle to travel for supplies and relocation, we recommend putting a long-range radio or walkie-talkie in there so you can communicate with your fellow survivors. Step 4: Find a quiet, rural spot to settle down. Away from crowded areas, this is the perfect place to survive. Settle near clear, running water, find a place with a fireplace so you can use wood to keep warm and try to find somewhere with fertile ground so you can grow your own food. Step 5: Think about defence, a wall surrounding your settlement combined with some floodlights is what you want. This keeps out any unwanted visitors and allows you to keep eyes on the surrounding area. Step 6: Scavenge what you need, the world is now yours to scavenge to survive. Keep an eye out for medication like antibiotics, iodine tablets can make water safe to drink, and supermarkets will contain canned food that will stay good for years after. Step 7: Once settled, you can re-establish the infrastructure that you need. Establish an off-grid supply of electricity, this can be done via homemade wind turbines. Also, fuel can be made using rendered animal fat, allowing you to keep your vehicles running. Dartnell also suggests grouping together to create the perfect survival team, recommending to poach the following: Natural Leaders: Having someone in the team who can lead and make decisions is a must, someone needs to keep morale up and organise your actions to make sure you effectively perform as a unit. Carpenters/Metalworkers: Capable trade workers are essential when it comes to repairs and rebuilding, you need to be a self-sufficient unit, so being able to build and repair as and when it is needed is a must. Electricians: Like the previous addition, electricians can help you rebuild your infrastructure, install solar panels, and monitor generators and batteries. Creating a settlement with self-sufficient electricity will improve your quality of life. Doctors and Nurses: Another necessary addition to any team, these will help keep you in good health and although they may not have access to all the equipment they need, their medical knowledge is needed.
