Sam Smith described feeling "heartbroken" after "vocal issues" caused them to stop their Manchester concert last night, just four songs into the set. The singer took to the stage at AO Arena on Wednesday (May 24) and earlier teased fans on social media that there would be a "special surprise" near the end of the gig - they earlier shared a brief clip to social media, hinting at a collaboration with Madonna. However, after performing their 2017 song 'Too Good at Goodbyes', the lights went out at the venue as the show suddenly stopped. But Smith posted a statement to Instagram to explain the reason their concert was abruptly cut short. "Dearest sailors, I don’t know what to say honestly. I fought off a virus a few weeks ago and since then we have travelled across Europe and had such incredible shows. "Today in soundcheck I felt fine and was so excited to give Manchester an amazing show tonight, with a special surprise at the end," they wrote. "During my third song, I noticed something wrong with my voice. I prayed it was just my voice waking up for the show but into the fourth song I could feel something was really wrong." They added: "I came off stage and have tried everything to get my voice back in gear but it won't. I am honestly heartbroken I couldn't finish the show tonight for you all. I love you all. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." Since then fans have expressed their disappointment on Twitter, believing Smith should have cancelled their Manchester show earlier. While some described the "anxiety" in the crowd as it was the sixth anniversary of the terror attack at Manchester Arena just days before on May 22. Una Healy has finally broken her silence on the David Haye and Sian Osborne 'throuple' which she claims saw her 'hoodwinked' into being in the middle of their relationship. Everyone’s favourite self-deprecating Scot, Lewis Capaldi, set his old school a challenge to create a “deliberately odd” sculpture of him – and… well… they certainly delivered. The “Someone You Loved” singer, whose second album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent came out on Friday, made a visit to St Kentigern’s Academy in West Lothian on Tuesday morning – ahead of two intimate acoustic performances in Edinburgh later. Sharing pictures of the big unveiling to Twitter, the academy’s art department wrote: “So today our Top Secret project was unveiled at SWG3 with a young musician and ex-pupil who has done quite well – Lewis Capaldi. “The amazing S4 students and art staff created a deliberately odd sculpture of Lewis as requested by his team. He loved it and laughed along!” The artwork was created to coincide with the release of Capaldi's sophomore album, which follows on from his 2019 debut Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent. After being presented with the sculpture, the "Forget Me" songwriter joked: “You’ve really captured my essence. It’s pretty weird-looking, but I like it.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter He went on to thank the students for creating it, saying he does “genuinely love it” but that it “will give me nightmares”. “It’s a weird thing to look at – like yourself, but not yourself.” And Twitter was impressed by the creation too: Of course, it’s not the first eyebrow-raising piece of art to be made in recent years, as back in 2012 a botched attempt to restore a painting of Jesus Christ went viral because it was that bad. Then in 2017, there was the infamous sculpture/bust of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, which was just as troubling. It turns out Beyoncé is a big fan of Nando's. So much so, she splashed out almost £2,000 ($2,480) on a single order. The superstar treated her entourage before taking to the stage at Murrayfield Stadium in Scotland with a wide range of options including 50 sunset burgers, 30 fino pittas, 30 butterfly burgers, 60 chicken pittas, 20 beanie burgers and 10 chicken wings. She also ensured there were vegetarian options. While celebrities tend to go incognito when placing orders, Beyoncé used her real name. The news soon spread to Twitter, with one writing: "Beyoncé ordering £1.8k of chicken from Fountain Park Nando's is killing me." Another joked: "Beyoncé having a cheeky 2 grands worth of Nando's." Janelle Monáe has said that they’re “much happier” being topless after posing for a new cover shoot. The singer and actor posed for Rolling Stone’s Pride issue after appearing to explore a more sexually liberal style in 2023 with a series of album promos. Monáe, who uses they/them pronouns, announced their new album, The Age of Pleasure, with a teaser clip of the NSFW video which sees them emerging from a pool wearing a translucent skin-tight t-shirt with the word “Pleasure” written across the front.
