Jaden Smith has opened up about his use of psychedelic drugs, admitting that his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, "made the first step." Psychedelics (also known as hallucinogens) are known to produce changes in perception, mood and cognitive processes. Drugs such as LSD, DMT, ayahuasca and magic mushrooms are among the well-known psychoactive substances that often give the hallucinogenic experience. During a Psychedelic Science conference in Denver last week, the 24-year-old called the experience "profound and beautiful" and went on to suggest it helped him and his siblings get along better. Speaking about how he was introduced to psychedelics, Jaden said: "I think it was my mom actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family." "It was just her for a really, really long time and then eventually, it just trickled and evolved, and everybody found it in their own ways," he added. "But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that’s profound and beautiful." Psychedelics are illegal in the UK but have been around since ancient times and often have mystical and spiritual associations, according to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation. They can also carry risk, like any other drug – especially if a person experiences a "bad trip." This can lead to unpredictable and, in some cases, dangerous or life-threatening behaviour. There have since been various studies into the effects of micro-dosing and mental health to see whether they positively impact the brain's serotonin receptors. However, "as a class A drug, they have the most restrictions in place," Detox Plus UK explains. Cisgender is term that refers to a person who identifies with the sex given to them at birth. The phrase was coined in 1994 by Dana Defosse PhD., MPH to refer to people who aren't transgender that avoided marginalising transgender people. The Latin-derived prefix 'cis-' means "on this side of", and 'trans-' means "across from" or "on the other side of". The use of the term cisgender has increasingly upset some, mainly those who are anti-trans, and Jordan Peterson has appeared to have threatened anyone who referred to him as "cis". In spiked's tweet they write that "the term 'cis' is an invention of trans activists." Peterson then replied saying "call me cis to my face and see what happens" Out of the various replies to the Canadian psychologist's tweet, Askren, a former MMA world champion in Bellator and ONE Championship simply said: "Lol you'd do nothing" Whilst Askren appears to agree with Peterson's general view towards the term cisgender, he still had no problem criticising Peterson. Responding to a comment that said "you approve of this nonsense then?" "Lol of course not. I just no Jordan Peterson would do nothing. Maybe get really really mad and that's it." Askren clarified. A second night of violent protests rocked Paris as rioters set cars and public buildings ablaze over the fatal police shooting of a teenager during a traffic stop. Police arrested 150 people overnight, with French president Emmanuel Macron condemning the violence as “unjustifiable. The epicentre of the unrest was in Nanterre, a working-class town in the western outskirts of Paris where the shooting of the 17-year-old – known only as Nahel – on Tuesday during a traffic check shocked the country. The incident which was captured on video stirred up long-simmering tensions between young people and the police in housing projects and other disadvantaged neighbourhoods around France. Clashes first erupted on Tuesday night in and around the Paris suburb of Nanterre, where Nahel was killed, and the government deployed 2,000 police to maintain order on Wednesday. “The last few hours have been marked by scenes of violence against police stations but also schools and town halls, and thus institutions of the Republic and these scenes are wholly unjustifiable,” Mr Macron said as he convened a crisis meeting with senior ministers.
