“Cult mom” Lori Vallow is back in court today to be sentenced for the murders of her two children in a dramatic case that gripped the nation. Vallow, 50, was convicted in May of killing her seven-year-old son Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 16-year-old daughter Tylee Ryan, who vanished without a trace in September 2019. She was also found guilty of conspiring to kill her husband Chad Daybell’s first wife, Tammy, who died in October 2019. The verdict came after prosecutors convinced a jury that Vallow and Mr Daybell conspired with her brother Alex Cox to murder Tammy, JJ and Tylee as part of their bizarre cult beliefs – but also for financial purposes so that they could collect Tammy’s life insurance money and the children’s social security and survivor benefits. Vallow will appear before a judge in the Ada County Courthouse in Boise, Idaho, on Monday for sentencing, where she faces the possibility of life in prison. Before the sentence is handed down, the court will hear victim impact statements from several family members devastated by the harrowing saga that’s seen countless twists and turns over four years. A daredevil has died after falling from the 68th floor of a Hong Kong skyscraper. Frenchman Remi Lucidi was known for climbing tall structures around the world. The 30-year-old reportedly lost his life after getting trapped outside a penthouse at the Tregunter Tower complex. Investigators stated that Lucidi had told security staff that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor of the building. However, he then made his way to the top floor. The South China Morning Post reports that he then got trapped outside and knocked on the window at around 7.30pm. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter A maid inside the building was startled by the commotion and the police were called. However, Lucidi lost his footing and died instantly from the fall. Lucidi’s camera was recovered by police at the scene and contained videos of extreme sports. An official statement and the cause of the stuntman’s death are yet to be revealed by the Hong Kong police. Lucidi started climbing skyscrapers in 2016 and he recently posted a photograph of the Hong Kong skyline on his Instagram profile. His social media shows that he had previously attempted stunts in various parts of the world, such as Bulgaria, Portugal, France, Ukraine and Dubai. Have your say in our news democracy.
