Brendan Rodgers regrets ‘hurt’ he caused Celtic fans when he left for Leicester
Brendan Rodgers admitted he regrets the “hurt” he caused Celtic supporters when he walked out for Leicester as he “guaranteed” he will see out the duration of his three-year contract this time round – unless he is sacked first. The Northern Irishman returned to take charge of the Parkhead club on Monday, almost four and a half years after leaving for the Foxes in a move that sparked a backlash from a significant number of Hoops fans who felt betrayed that he left midway through a season when the team were chasing a treble-treble. While many supporters have accepted Rodgers’ return to the club, the manager is hopeful he can win over those who still hold lingering resentment.

Ukrainian soldiers rescue Russian troops left to drown after Kakhovka dam destruction
Ukrainian special forces rescued a number of Russian soldiers from flooding after the Kakhovka dam was destroyed. Footage shows boats picking up the four men, who were trapped “up to their necks” when water inundated their trench. “The Russian soldiers were already weakened and close to death,” Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence wrote, sharing the footage on social media. Other Russians occupying the area began to shoot at the boat from nearby positions during the rescue, according to Ukraine’s MoD. The rescued soldiers were then taken back to the Ukrainian base and added to the prisoner of war “exchange fund”. Wrexham AFC stadium suffers ‘structural damage’ after torrential rain
Thunderstorms and heavy rain have caused flooding in Wrexham, leading to some “structural damage” to the Racecourse Ground, home of Wrexham AFC. A hospitality suite on Sunday 18 June was cleared of diners enjoying a Father’s Day meal due to the flooding. “Wrexham AFC can confirm the 1864 Suite was evacuated during the third sitting of today’s Father’s Day meals at the Racecourse Ground,” the statement read. “In the wake of the torrential rain that hit the region late this afternoon, some structural damage has resulted in a large leak inside the Macron Stand reception area.” The statement added that all diners were safely evacuated. Ruben Dias ‘threw up’ in Grealish’s mother’s bag during treble celebrations, Ederson says
Ederson has claimed Ruben Dias “threw up” into Jack Grealish’s mother’s bag during Manchester City’s press conference. The goalkeeper struggled to hold in his laughter as he revealed the story during a press conference ahead of Brazil’s friendly against Guinea. He explained that some players who do not normally drink alcohol made an exception during the treble celebrations. “Ruben Dias made this exception, but it didn’t work out for him,” Ederson said, chuckling. “Two shots and he threw up everything. And you might not believe it, but it all went into Jack Grealish’s mother’s bag.” Read More US Open: Why LACC’s 15th hole at the prestigious golf tournament just made history Watch: Usman Khawaja’s adorable daughter steals the show in Ashes press conference Rugby legend Jason Robinson creates pitch art to celebrate iconic World Cup moments

Glastonbury regular reveals best clothing to take to festivals - and what to avoid
A Glastonbury regular has been revealing the best clothes to pack if you’re heading to a festival this summer - and what you should be avoiding. Natalie McMullen, 33, says attendees will quickly realise that comfort is just important as style, and recommends wearing dresses, skorts (skirts with shorts attached underneath), and maxi skirts with slits in to marry the two together. “It’s things like that that mean you can still look amazing but you can enjoy the festival too”, she says. When it comes to footwear, however, don’t compromise. Converse, Vans, and Dr Martens have all proven a bad choice for McMullen, who now braves a pair of sturdy walking boots - even if they aren’t the top of her style wish list.
