Footage released by Ukrainian officials shows a bombed building on fire and firefighters tackling the blaze. One person was injured after a drone hit an empty dormitory building and another three struck a sports facility in a night-time attack, the service said. According to president Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Russia attacked the city with five Shahed drones.

Authorities in Italy have released drone footage said to show a suspected arsonist in action in the Calabria region, as firefighters continue to battle wildfires across the south. Searing temperatures have scorched Sicily, Sardinia and Calabria, where dozens of fires have broken out and multiple evacuations have been ordered. The president of the Calabria region, Roberto Occhiuto, vowed to take action against such arsonists, adding that 22 suspected arsonists had been caught via drone surveillance last year. In the footage he released, the suspect can be seen in a woodland area, before throwing rocks at the drone.

Wildfires triggered a series of blasts at an air force ammunition site in central Greece, according to local media. The Kathimerini newspaper said that a blaze in the region of Volos, in central Greece, reached an ammunition dump outside a major military air base in Nea Anchialos, triggering a series of large explosions. A fire on board a freight ship carrying nearly 3,000 cars was burning out of control in the North Sea on Wednesday 26 July, the Dutch coast guard said. One crew member died with several others injured, and officials are working to save the vessel from sinking close to an important habitat for migratory birds off the coast of Holland. Boats and helicopters were used to get the 23 crew members off the ship after they tried unsuccessfully to put out the blaze, the coast guard said in a statement.
