5 things we learnt from Robbie Williams' explosive Netflix doc
Robbie Williams' highly anticipated docuseries has officially dropped on Netflix – and nothing was off limits. The four-part series kicked off by showing a 16-year-old Robbie joining Take That alongside Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald. Despite being an instant hit, Robbie left the band five years later. The remaining four members parted ways the following year. Now, the 49-year-old is looking back at his lifetime spent in the spotlight, with never-seen-before footage. Robbie Williams | Official Trailer | Netflix www.youtube.com Here are five of the major talking points from the show: What happened between him and collaborator Guy Chambers? In one of the eps, Robbie shared how the partnership between him and Guy Chambers started to break down in the early 2000s, explaining how he felt restricted when his song 'Come Undone' was dismissed. The pair went on to part ways when Robbie addressed that he wanted their partnership to end. "He melted and now there’s a different Guy. And maybe there’s a different me too… I think Guy thought, 'We are a band called Robbie Williams,' but I needed full control as much as possible," he explained. The pair later reunited and worked on albums including Swings Both Ways, Under the Radar volumes one to three and The Christmas Present. His feud with Gary Barlow "It seemed like there was one person being managed in Take That, and it was Gary Barlow," Robbie candidly revealed in the series. "It was all geared around him and, as young person, I would have been jealous of that. I suppose a lot of me resented him.” Robbie reacted to resurfaced footage which showed him making a joke that his former Take That band member "is dead". The first ep saw Robbie's daughter ask who he hated most in the band to which he confirmed it was Gary. "I’m sorry I treated Gary like that," he said. His relationship with Geri Halliwell Robbie dated Spice Girls' Geri Halliwell in the early 90s, while he was at Alcoholics Anonymous. At the time, Robbie believed that she was calling the paparazzi on the pair when they were out and about. However, he now takes that back. "Now I don't think that's true for one second, but at the time I did believe it," he said. "It just goes to show what being in the spotlight can do to you psychologically when you can't trust anybody." Why he left Take That... Robbie shared the real reason behind leaving Take That, after rumours it was due to addiction issues. Speaking to the cameras, he revealed: "The sense that I wasn't ready or capable to fulfil the role that was being asked of me was palpable. "One day I went in for rehearsals, and then at lunchtime, they said, 'Rob, we need to have a band meeting.' I said to the boys I just couldn't be there anymore. "Then they said, 'Look, we wanna see if we can do this tour as a four-piece. What do you think?' "And in the end, 'What do you think?' was me deciding to leave Take That." Opening up about his struggles... Robbie bravely opened up about his past struggles with drugs and alcohol, saying he "was ingesting everything [he] could get [his] hands on - ecstasy, cocaine, drinking." He went on to say that he drank "like a bottle of vodka" a night before going into rehearsals. "Everybody knew I was in trouble, but they didn't care, I'd gone past the point of no return," he said. "My life had spiralled out of control so severely that my manager understood what needed to happen, I needed to be carted off to rehab. He continued: "I used to drink and do drugs because it helped me not feel this way, when you strip that away all the everything comes up that you’ve been suppressing and I’ve been suppressing that for years. I’m depressed and I’m mentally ill." Robbie, who was diagnosed with depression in his early twenties, said: "People at this point still thought that if good things are happening to you and you're successful, what is there to be upset about? "I had to go on stage in front of thousands of people feeling like you’re on the hundredth floor, the room’s burning and you either stay in the room or burn to death or you jump out of the window to your death. It’s that uncomfortable." How to join the indy100's free WhatsApp channel Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Theory resurfaces that Taylor Swift was once an active 4Chan user
A theory has resurfaced online that pop star Taylor Swift was previously a 4chan user. For those who don't know, 4chan is an image board website known for its controversial and offensive content posted by users. For years, a theory has existed surrounding the Blank Space singer being a potential user on the site, and it has seemingly resurfaced as many talk about their clues for the theory. Here is some of the evidence users have gathered: 1) In November 2011, a user asked 4chan to name their cat, with one suggestion being Meredith. A day later, Taylor Swift debuted her her cat Meredith. 2) Faces very similar to Swift's have show up on 4chan. With users going so far as to compare backgrounds featured in the pictures on 4chan and other photos uploaded by Swift on social media. 3) A /b/tard (a forum on 4chan) claims they once spoke to a musician on Omegle who said her name was Taylor and that she was on 4chan. 4) A user on the forum asked 4chan why they would say if they knew Taylor Swift would be reading it. 5) "One of the 50 most famous people on the planet" asked the forum for questions. 6) A 4chan user posted "Nothing quite like a freezing cold, wintery beach", the same day Swift posted the same thing to Twitter. Of course, this isn't exactly the most compelling evidence, and it's more likely to be a regular person crafting the illusion of being Swift by taking photos form her social media and some sly Photoshop. 4chan's founder Christopher Poole (a.k.a moot) told /b/ forum to stop talking about it, saying the photos can all be found online and the screenshots are Photoshopped. He added that the photos are posted from an IP "that is definitely not her." Of course, when did a disproved theory stop anyone from believing it? "Taylor Swift pays moot to say she isn't on /b/ so she can remain anonymous", wrote one speculative user on Reddit. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Matthew Perry made a secret special request for the last ever episode of Friends
Matthew Perry's special request he made for the final episode of Friends has resurfaced following the sad news of his death. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, released last year, the late actor revealed how he wanted to close out the show by saying the final line. "No one else will care about this except me,” Perry wrote. “So may I please have the last line?” he asked the producer. The finale of the hugely popular sitcom came in 2004 after 10 seasons, and the final scene saw Chandler and Monica (played by Perry and Courteney Cox) bid an emotional farewell to their empty purple apartment as they were joined by Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Ross (David Schwimmer). Before Chandler and Monica leave the city for the suburbs to start family life with their newborn twins, Rachel suggests the group grab a final cup of coffee. That's when Chandler's sarcastic humour shines through one last time to end the show on a light-hearted note. “Sure,” Chandler replied. “Where?” Of course, fans of the show know exactly where - the group's local coffee shop Central Perk which had been one of the iconic backdrops of the series. “I got to bring the curtain down on Friends,” Perry wrote. “I love the look on Schwimmer’s face as I deliver that line — it’s the perfect mixture of affection and amusement, exactly what the show Friends had always given to the world.” Upon news of Perry being declared dead on October 28, aged 54, many Friends fans shared how Perry made this last line request. One person wrote: "It is incredibly bittersweet that Chandler had the last line in the final episode of Friends. Gonna miss Matthew Perry a lot." "Matthew Perry delivered the final line in Friends. And made one word into a final laugh. A talented man. RIP," another person said. Someone else added: "One of my favorite jokes in the show and the ultimate send-off." "This was the perfect last words on Friends,” a fourth person commented. “Inside joke was that the Central Perk set had already been taken down. The cast of Friends released a statement, following the tragic news of Perry's death. "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family,” it read. "There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty's family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world". 8 things we learned from North West's first-ever interview
North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has opened up about her life with her first-ever solo interview. Speaking to i-D Magazine, the 10-year-old chatted all things fashion, family and future aspirations and posed for the publication's The New Wave Issue cover. Despite her young age, North has nearly 17m followers on her shared TikTok account with her mum @kimandnorth - some of the shenanigans include doing her auntie, Kylie Jenner's makeup, doing pranks, filming with Selena Gomez's younger sister, transforming into her dad using makeup, and even going live (without permission). Though in this interview we learn more about North such as how if could meet anyone, she would want to meet Tupac, she would live in Japan if she didn't live in LA as well as her love for basketball and art. North is also known for her sassy personality, calling out her mother as well as the paparazzi - both of which get a mention in her recent interview. Here's everything we learned from North West's first cover: She's her own style icon @kimandnorth Living life in Tokyo, While her mother and father have made an impact on the fashion industry with SKIMS and Yeezy, North clearly marches to the beat of her own drum when it comes to style after being asked: "Who is your style icon?" She simply replied: "Me." We love the confidence. On music @kimandnorth Since her father is a famous rapper, it's no surprise that North was asked whether she likes to sing or perform herself and in response said "Performing is my favourite." Does this talent come from her family? North replied: "Sometimes, mostly from me though. And then a little bit of my dad," whose song 'Through the Wire' is her current favourite at the moment. She likes getting her photo taken... just not by paparazzi As North has made headlines for answering back at paparazzi, she was questioned on whether she likes getting her picture taken - and she does but not all the time. "Yes. Only when I want to, because ehhh, I don’t want to sometimes. But not by the paparazzi," she said. Her favourite fashion show Although North has been photographed at fashion events and shows since she was a baby, those clearly cannot beat a sisterly fashion show in the comfort of her home. "My little sister’s fashion show in her closet," she replied when asked what was the best fashion show she's been to. Her favourite memory is basketball-related North's love of basketball comes up a number of times in her interview, including her favourite memory when she had a go at playing the sport for the first time. "When I first tried basketball, because I was so bad. So I know those memories and I’m like, ‘Ooh, now I’m so good’, I got so much better," she said. Future aspirations as a business owner Like many children her age, North has thought about a number of different roles that she wanted to do when she was older - some of these include a boxer (but not anymore), a basketball player and a rapper, following in her dad's footsteps. "A basketball player, a rapper, um... Well, when I was seven, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side," she said. "When I’m, like, thirteen, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell." However, she clearly has an interest in business too and noted how she wants to take over her parent's businesses when she's older. "Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner." North's life in three words "Blessed, awesome, cool." Three words to describe herself "The best ever." Enough said. Sharon Osbourne dresses as Kanye West's 'wife' wearing a pillow for Halloween
This year, celebrities treated Halloween as the second Met Gala, going above and beyond for their star-studded bashes. From Heidi Klum's impressive peacock look (complete with 10 Cirque du Soleil performers) to Kendall Jenner as Marilyn Monroe and her famed Kardashian sisters cosplaying as Bratz dolls, they all collectively won Halloween. Even Hailey Bieber seemingly made a tongue-in-cheek reference to Mean Girls after TikTokers cruelly called her the new Regina George following a clash with Selena Gomez earlier this year. Well now, attention has been turned to Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne who creatively dressed up as Kanye West and Bianca Censori with her infamous pillow outfit. Sharon's post to Instagram left followers in hysterics, with one person calling it "the greatest thing I've ever seen." "LMAO KANYE AND HIS WIFE GIRL BYE SLAY SHARON," another user added, while a third commented: "You guys are epic! Looking great, Sharon!" Meanwhile, some people were lost and did not quite understand the pop culture reference... For the blissfully unaware, Kanye and his rumoured wife made headlines over the summer during their trip across Italy. Many outfits turned heads for their risque nature – but one in particular, was Censori covering herself with a hotel pillow. The snaps sparked confusion and backlash online, with one writing: "How completely ridiculous these people are. Put on some clothes and then you won’t have to take a hotel room cushion out sightseeing with you - and you even get your arms free! Novel concept." Meanwhile, one person called their behaviour "unhinged," writing: "Kanye & Bianca Censori are unhinged. Someone ought to stage an intervention. Wearing a pillow? Him walking in socks?"
