'Wheel of Fortune' host Pat Sajak lashes out at contestant Robert Degnan for banging game panel after wrong guess

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The popular game ‘Wheel of Fortune’ never fails to amaze its viewers with engaging yet witty conversations with its contestants, especially regarding host Pat Sajak. He may jokingly question their puzzle-solving skills or tease them about their incorrect guesses, but he doesn't back down when it comes to following the game rules. Recently, Sajak slammed a contestant for not following the game rules after a wrong guess.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ celebrated 'Star Wars'-themed week and ended it with one player’s excessively friendly anecdotes. On a recent episode, gameshow contestant Robert Degnan, a drummer from Tampa left quite an impression among the audience, particularly host Sajak. While he spun the wheel, it started to slow down and was about to stop at a one-million-dollar prize wedge. However, it settled on the Bankrupt portion of the wedge, leading to a huge disappointment for Robert as he exclaimed his frustration with a large thud.

Contestant breaks rules on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

On Monday, June 5 ‘Wheel of Fortune’ broadcast, host Sajak's friendly demeanor kept the show entertained until Robert did something completely out-of-the-box. A professional drummer from Tampa, Florida, Robert spun the greatest wheel of the game. When it started to slow, a one million dollar prize wedge alongside two Bankrupt designations popped up. Pat teased Robert, “This is going to be close”, while the latter was continuously chanting under his breath, “Stop, stop, stop, stop."

When the needle finally stopped spinning, it settled on the Bankrupt portion of the wedge, sweeping away all his would-be winnings. The camera instantly moved toward a close-up of the losing wedge as Robert screamed in the background, “No!” followed by a large thud. He banged his head on the game panel and Sajak, surprised to see his reaction added, “Wow, that was really emotional. Plus, you banged your head on (the panel). No one’s ever done that before." Robert smirked with a disappointing laugh, “I didn’t mean to do that”, as the contestants and Pat shared a laugh.

Robert Degnan’s fury

After minutes into the incident, nobody was laughing anymore as Robert again took his frustration on the game show furniture. During a puzzle, the player gasped when the wheel settled on a prize wedge with a trip to Walt Disney World and its 'Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge' attractions with a value of nearly $8,000. Pat, as usual, encouraged the contestants adding, “Well that would be nice!” Robert wins the prize wedge after correctly guessing the letter P. When the letter ‘O’ was added, the puzzle read- P_P CU_TURE P_E_O_E_O_.

During his next spin, he asked for the letter ‘D’, only to be saddened as Pat revealed there was no D. A loud thud could be heard again, but this time, it was no joke as Pat burst at Robert, “Don’t hit your head!” Robert was embarrassed and begged for forgiveness while trying to explain his reaction. He cried claiming, “I’m sorry, it was my hand this time." Before Robert could answer the puzzle, another contestant solved it by answering, Pop Culture Phenomenon and Robert earned third place.
