Lando Norris snapped back after a reporter labelled Max Verstappen the British driver’s “BFF.” Norris and Verstappen are good friends and are regularly seen chatting and joking with one another in the paddock. We just have a lot of respect for one another.” Norris has been linked with the second seat at Red Bull, though has a contract with McLaren until the end of the 2025 season. Red Bull boss Christian Horner admitted in September that Norris was one of many drivers who the team are “keeping an eye on.” “Lando’s a great driver,” said Horner. “He’s a big talent, big personality and of course he’s one of those drivers that you keep an eye on. “But there’s many drivers that you keep an eye on as well. The death of Henry Kissinger has brought to an end a long-running social media meme that tracked whether he was still alive. The controversial former US national security adviser and secretary of state died at the age of 100 on Wednesday 29 November. Playing an infamous role in the Vietnam War, and blamed for the death of hundreds of thousands of civilians, Kissinger drew strong criticism from the likes of Anthony Bourdain for his heinous actions, after the late chef brutally wrote about him in his 2001 book. As people have reacted to Kissinger’s death, one social media account that had a strong interest in the news was the “Is Henry Kissinger Dead Yet?” X/Twitter account. The account was set up in December 2021 and tweeted every few days tracking whether the controversial political figure was still around. According to the Washington Post, the account was created by an anonymous 26-year-old Peruvian law student. He told the publication: “I think Americans in particular are very susceptible to this very stupid idea that is bad to celebrate the death of an evil person.” In October 2022, a post from the account suggested the creator was growing slightly impatient waiting for him to die. They wrote: “No and I didn’t think this account would be such a long term commitment.” Upon the news that Kissinger has now passed away, a post from the account simply read, “YES”. It has been viewed 13 million times at the time of writing. In the replies, people didn’t hold back on their feelings. The creator of the account was true to their word, after telling the WaPo that when the day came they would tweet “Yes” and “enjoy the jubilation”. Music lovers have been sharing their 2023 in terms of their most streamed artists, songs and albums - all neatly presented with some cool visuals and graphics. But there's a new feature this year that reveals your own "Sound Town," which basically matches you to a city in the world that has the most similar music taste to yours from your streaming stats this year. "This year, your listening took you places and one place listened just like you," the slide reads as it then informs you which city you got. Of course, the latest feature has inspired memes, particularly those who have Berkeley in California, Burlington, in Vermont or Cambridge in Massachusetts based on their music taste which appeared to be popular places in people's Wrapped report. "spotify is trying to make a gay commune in berkeley, a lesbian commune in burlington, and a bisexual commune in cambridge," one Twitter/X joked. Another wrote: "Back in my day, you had to ask Google “am I gay?” Now Spotify wrapped just tells you by placing you in Burlington, Berkeley, or Cambridge." Meanwhile, Taylor Swift was the most-streamed artist on Spotify globally, with more than 26.1 billion streams since January 1, previously, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny was the most-streamed artist for three years in a row. Our canine companions could soon be enjoying much longer lifespans, if a drug which claims it can extend dogs’ lives eventually gets approved. The drug, made by a tech firm in California, just cleared a vital hurdle to doing just that, after it got partial approval by regulators in the US. Loyal, a San Francisco-based company founded in 2020, has been researching how it can increase dogs’ lifespans – in particular larger breeds, which tend to die younger. Large and “giant” breeds tend to live to between eight and 12 years. Smaller dogs, such as Chihuahuas, can keep going to the ripe old age of 20. Loyal’s main product, the catchily-titled LOY-001, is designed not only to extend dogs’ lives but also maintain their quality of life. Now, it has passed the “reasonable expectation of effectiveness” test, set by regulators at the US’ Food and Drug Administration. Loyal’s chief executive, Celine Halioua, said: "Loyal was founded with the ambitious goal of developing the first drugs to extend healthy lifespan in dogs. "This milestone is the result of years of careful work by the team. We'll continue to work just as diligently to bring this and our other longevity programs through to FDA approval." Selective breeding of dogs has caused higher levels of hormones which help the animals grow faster. That is also believed to reduce their lifespan, the company said. Big dogs tend to have more of this hormone than their smaller counterparts. Animal rights activists are not yet convinced. Some experts fear it will only serve to extend animals’ suffering. Loyal, on the other hand, says the drug aims to treat doggy diseases which are associated with ageing through preventing them, rather than waiting for the animals to get sick before treating them. The company said that the drug could be available to US customers as early as 2026. So that’s plenty of time for walkies between now and then.
