TikTok convinced Meghan Markle's Suits started Roman Empire trend
The latest TikTok trend sees women asking the men in their lives how often they think about the Roman Empire - and it turns out they think about the historical period a lot. But now, fans of the US legal drama Suits have noted a clip in the show that has convinced them that the Roman Empire trend started back then. In the clip, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) dances along while wearing earphones and is stopped by Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) who asks "What's playing on that thing?" To which Mike replied: "Uh, audiobook, 'Fall of the Roman Empire.'" @debodell TikTok · Deborah O'Dell "This Roman Empire thing goes way deeper than we thought guys," TikToker @debodell wrote in the post caption. Since posting this video, it has received 1.1m views, as people shared their thoughts on this as well as other times in the series the Roman Empire was mentioned. One person said:" No bc I immediately thought of this scene when I saw the Roman Empire thing." "LMAO they mentioned it in season 7 too, I was dying last night,” another person wrote. Someone else added: "Richard Gilmore mentions it in the beginning of season 5 too." Meanwhile, the Roman Empire TikTok trend was established when Rev. Kelsey Lewis Vincent tweeted about something she had seen about it and asked her husband if he thinks about the Roman Empire to which he informed her it's an everyday thought. “I saw an IG Reel that said something along the lines of ‘Women have no idea how often the men in their lives think about the Roman Empire’,” she wrote. “So I asked my husband: ‘How often do you think about the Roman Empire?’ and without missing a beat he said ‘Every day’ “YALL! 'UFO' spotted in Egypt leaving viewers baffled
It feels like 2023 has been the year of the UFO, and now there’s another video that has emerged online which has people in full investigation mode. Whatever you believe it or not, the clip has sparked a big reaction on social media – adding to the long list of curious UFO-related stories to emerge recently. This year, we’ve had congress hearings with witnesses attesting to the existence of UFOs, while it was also revealed that NASA is set to publish results from its unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) independent study which could very well confirm or deny the existence of aliens. The latest clip, claiming to have been filmed in Egypt, could yet prove another talking point. A video which has been circulating on TikTok supposedly shows a UFO flying over the pyramids. @uapworld #amazing #ufo #trend# #videoviral#pyramid#egypt#ancient#anunkai #zetareticuli #mars#ufonetwork#uapworld#fyp#fanpage#fyi#fyc Not only that, but the clip also supposedly shows the unidentified craft firing beams of blue lights – and it’s got a lot of people speculating. While some seemed pretty convinced, others were sceptical to say the least. “CGI through a convenience store camera,” one commented, dismissing the video. “I believe,” one wrote, seemingly more ready to take the video as real. Are you convinced by the footage? Earlier this year, a model has shared what some are describing on social media as the 'best UFO footage ever' after spotting something strange during a flight. Valentina Rueda Velez, a Colombian model who goes by the username @Valentinarueda.v on Instagram, shared a clip during a recent journey on a private plane. 'Love surge' woman reduced to tears after mockery: "I didn't expect that much hate"
The TikToker behind the now-viral 'Love Surge' video posted a tearful response to the onslaught of mocking taking place on social media. Lilianna Wilde posted a TikTok last month of her husband having what she labelled a "love surge". The video is well known now, with it having over 5 million views on TikTok, and opens with Wilde telling viewers "want see the cringiest most couple thing ever?" whilst her husband, Sean Kolar, stands behind her. Kolar, who is seen shaking, proceeds to wrap around Wilde until both are shaking "with the electricity of love". This, she tells viewers is a "love surge". Once social media found the video, mocking ensued, with some saying they would "rather die alone", whilst others imitated the original video. However, Wilde has since posted an emotional update on TikTok, highlighting how cruel the internet can be and the effect it can have on the person it's directed towards. "I didn't expect like, that much hate on the video," Wilde begins saying. "A lot of the duets and stitches are really funny and I laughed a lot, I can take a joke and I can laugh at myself." @liliannawilde i was doing really well and laughing a lot and then just hit a wall last night and everything got really overwhelming. and again, i’m not taking about some of the really funny duets/stitches, that’s part of posting on the internet and i accept that. what I’m heartbroken over are the really awful things people are wishing on Sean and I. please think before you type, I’m very very lucky that my offline life is so wonderful that I can look away, but some people aren’t so lucky and for their sake please consider what you write. #lovesurge But she went on to say that the tone of comments began to take a turn. "Some of the comments got really really mean, and they were like wishing that someone got cheated on [...] or wishing DV [domestic violence] on me or to like unalive myself," Wilde said in the heartbreaking video. "If the goal was to make me sad, you do it, you won," Wilde tells viewers whilst holding back tears. She goes on to clarify that she's not talking about the "hilarious stitches" but rather "the really mean, hurtful comments." "I think a lot of times people type something online and they don't see the result of it and this is the result," she shared, hopefully making some reconsider what they say and post online. Many took to the comments of the video to send some love Wilde's way. "People can be really mean and sometimes it's hard to just ignore them. Love surge is super cringe but it's special. Don't let them take that," wrote one user. Another wrote, "I genuinely thought that was such a sweet video. Millennial called a 'PR nightmare' by Gen Z friend for how she wore sunglasses
If TikTok has taught us anything, it’s that Gen Z as a group hold a lot of opinions, especially when it comes to Millennials. A viral video recently proved this point as a millennial person was called “PR nightmare” by their Gen Z friend for the way they wear sunglasses. In the clip, a group of friends appeared to be sunbathing. The millennial who was filming it informed viewers that her friend had made fun of her friend for the way she wore her sunglasses. The woman joked that she had been on the receiving of “bullying” all day and was called a “PR nightmare” by her younger friend. She proceeded to show people how she wears them, by placing them on her face in a normal-looking way. But, her Gen Z friend next to her laughed and said “it’s so shoved into your face”. She continued, saying she looks like “a dad that wears a visor”. The Gen Z-er explained the “normal” way is to have them “mid-nose”. The clip ended with asking viewers which way they wear them, sparking a debate in the comments. @jordanharpernp tough to keep uo with the trends these days 😎 #millennialsoftiktok #millenialvsgenz #millennial “The dad way… I’m trying to stop the wrinkles from appearing,” one user commented. Another simply wrote: “I am learning that Gen-Z thinks a lot and I do not care enough to think about these things.” Someone else said: “I mean I wear them in such a way that they block the sun from my eyes.” One person added: “I didn’t know there was a wrong way to wear sunglasses. I just put them on.” The Gen Z vs. Millennial debate appears to show no sign of stopping. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Dad leaves people divided after refusing to sit with his family on a flight
A father has come under fire after he was asked by a passenger during a flight if he wanted to swap seats to sit next to his family, but instead of moving himself, he got the other kid who was sitting with him to move. In the TikTok, @one_toughmother detailed what happened that led to the mum being left with both her baby, toddler and her kid, while the dad had a child-free flight. "I was seated next to a mom who had a baby in her lap and a toddler beside her,!" the on-screen text read and the situation was described as "a lot." "I offered to switch seats with the dad, who was a few rows up, so he could be with his family. "He says 'Great, thanks,' AND SENDS OVER ANOTHER SMALL KID TO SIT WITH THE MOM. "He enjoyed a kid-free flight," the video concluded. @one_toughmother A little sunday rage for ya #momsoftiktok #deadbeatdad Since being posted, the viral clip has received 4.6m views, 543,000 likes and a debate has been sparked over this scenario in the comments. On the one hand, many slammed the dad for being irresponsible and not helping out his wife with the kids. One person said: "The absolute rage I am feeling right now." "If I were the mom, he would not be my husband anymore after that," another person wrote. A third added: "I would have said no that’s not what I meant give me my seat back." "If my husband was like that we would be divorced before landing," a fourth person commented. Someone else replied: "This is the perfect ad for birth control." While others defended the father's actions. "Wait but, if he actually took the seat, wouldn't the other kid be left alone?? or did i miss smt [sic]." one person said. Another added: "What if he were a stay-at-home dad and mom was finally looking after the kids so he could have a break?" "This is why you should’ve minded your own business," someone else wrote. A fourth person replied: "I think he probably misinterpreted as it you not wanting to sit next to the children." In a follow-up video, the TikToker @one_toughmother who made the video noted "how differently it [the video] was received by men and women in the comments." @one_toughmother Replying to @Timmy Hope this clears up all the willful confusion. Most of the men in these comments making themselves KNOWN. #momsoftiktok #parenting #feminist She added that she didn't realise there was another kid sitting next to the dad when she made the offer to switch seats and that the father wanted her to sit in the middle seat instead of the aisle seat. "No, nobody was suggesting that he leave a kid alone with a stranger, the only reasonable option in this situation was for him to say 'No thank you, I'm actually sitting here with my other child.'" The 'how often do you think about the Roman Empire' trend explained
Women are discovering that their husbands think about the Roman Empire all the time in a new bizarre TikTok trend. It's clear from the reactions of many wives and girlfriends that this is something they didn't know about their partner before asking about the post-Republican state of ancient Rome.
