One GB News presenter suffered what can only be described as a breaking news breakdown on Saturday, as news broke that the Metropolitan Police had apprehended and re-arrested escaped fugitive Daniel Khalife in Chiswick. Martin Daubney, the former Brexit Party and Reclaim Party politician who has also worked for the News of the World and out-of-print magazines such as FHM and loaded, was tasked with sharing the news during GB News Saturday. Everything that follows is exactly what Daubney said as he tried to make sense of the news – brace yourself. “But first, it’s the news headlines … No, it’s not, we’re going straight to me, this is breaking news, it’s fast happening. “Because as we’ve just said, the epic- the terror man… it’s all gone wrong,” he said, rushing to grab a sheet of paper to attempt to get a hold of the situation and seemingly muttering the f-word under his breath amid the disaster. He continued: “It’s here. Chip Chapman, we have him coming up soon on the arrest of the terror suspect. He escaped from Wandsworth prison, he has been apprehended, it’s all coming up on GB News, with our first guest. “Here it is, police have escape- have arrested prisoner Daniel Khalife. Beg your pardon, we’ll get the autocue in the right place, this story is just happening. “Joining me now for the latest is GB News home security editor Mark White. Are you there, Mark?” Needless to say, he was not, as Daubney mixed up the order of guests. “It’s Chip Chapman, we have Chip Chapman, army for the army and former head of counter-terrorism, Major-General Chip Chapman,” he clarified. The excruciating minute-long mishap went viral on social media immediately: Daubney is yet to address the blunder, taking to Twitter/X after the programme to tweet about football. Elon Musk has baffled fans of the popular game Warhammer 40,000 by seemingly borrowing from the title as the inspiration for his newest child's name: Techno Mechanicus. A new biography on Musk written by Walter Isaacson revealed the existence of the previously unannounced addition to the billionaire's family which he reportedly had with former partner the Canadian musician Claire Boucher aka Grimes. It has not been disclosed exactly when Musk and Grimes had the child but it is the third the former couple have had together, despite their relationship ending in 2021. This now brings the number of children that Musk has brought into the world to 11 but the new baby's name has raised the eyebrows amongst many, mostly because it sounds like something from Warhammer. Mechanicus is indeed a word from the game most commonly associated with the Adeptus Mechanicus faction, a group of cyborg warrior priests which does sound like something that would appeal to Musk. With this in mind, Warhammer players and those in the know have taken to Musk own platform X/Twitter to point out the similarities. The new child's unusual name, who is said to be called 'Tau' for short, follows a tradition between the pair who have named their previous two children X Æ A-Xii, or X, and Exa Dark Sideræl, or Y, respectively. The Princess of Wales was in good spirits at the Rugby World Cup, which she attended in an Alexander McQueen suit she first wore at her daughter’s christening in 2015. On Saturday (9 September), Kate was photographed cheering in the crowd as England beat Argentina 27-10 in the match, which took place at the Stade de Marseille in France. The 41-year-old wore a tailored white suit comprised of a single-breasted blazer and tailored trousers that she also wore to Princess Charlotte’s christening. Kate, who is patron of the Rugby Football Union, accessorised the outfit with a pair of Mappin & Webb diamond earrings and a matching diamond pendant necklace from the brand. She sat alongside Bill Beaumont, chairman of World Rugby, for the duration of the game and afterward went to meet the players in their dressing room to congratulate them on their victory. Kate is known to re-wear her luxury designer looks, having regularly re-worn red carpet looks to major events, like the Baftas. Her appearance at the Rugby World Cup comes after her husband, the Prince of Wales, faced criticism for not attending the Women’s football World Cup final in Sydney last month. Kate also did not attend. The Lionesses were ultimately beaten in a historic World Cup final against Spain. The Prince of Wales, who is the president of the Football Association (FA), watched the match on television. It is understood that the decision was made because it would involve flying across the world for a very short period of time. Kate, meanwhile, recently paid homage to the late Queen Elizabeth on the first anniversary of her death. On Friday (8 September), she stepped out in drop-down pearl earrings as an ode to Her Majesty, waling alongside Prince William as the pair attended a service at St David’s Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, Wales. For the occasion, she paired a long-sleeve burgundy trench coat dress and matching hat with the Queen’s Silver Jubilee diamond and pearl earrings. Gareth Southgate is looking forward to another really good test and “important learning step” as England head to Scotland for their first friendly in 18 months. The Euro 2020 runners-up are among the favourites to win next year’s finals in Germany, which they are within touching distance of despite Saturday’s 1-1 qualification draw against Ukraine. Scotland, like England, are on the cusp of qualification for next summer’s Euros, with Friday’s 3-0 triumph in Cyprus extending their outstanding winning start in Group A to a fifth match. Southgate’s side do not head into the friendly on the same high having failed to click against Ukraine, after which James Maddison said it was important to dig in and take a point if the attack is not firing. “James would be one that won’t have played in an England game like that in the past,” the England manager said. “Marc (Guehi), Chilly [Ben Chilwell] wouldn’t have played a huge number of those games for us either. “So, the only way to learn and grow as a team is to have those sorts of experiences. “To go behind in a game like that is a challenge, but we stayed calm. “I’m not so sure it was a case of digging in because I think we were in control of the game. “But we had to defend some counter-attack moments and a couple of set plays well. “And, yeah, without a doubt, to go through that sort of experience is good learning for several of the players. “I think on a night like this the experienced players were really important for the team and I thought they all did a very, very good job.” Southgate rued too many turnovers and a lack of attacking fluency on Saturday night, when skipper Harry Kane took it upon himself to spark England into life. Ukraine stood off the striker and watched him fire an exceptional diagonal ball from just outside the centre circle over Vitaliy Mykolenko to put in Walker to score. “In the end, it was difficult for all of the forward players to find space between Ukraine’s midfield and defence,” Southgate said. “I thought they did that as a team very well. “I thought occasionally we were coming too deep outside of the block, but when you do that, if you’ve got players with that range of passing, then it’s an alternative way of breaking them down. “The important thing was as he was dropping, Kyle making the run he did. “He’s got outstanding vision but also technical quality to make those passes.”
