Blake Lively fans wowed by Seventies-inspired gold jumpsuit at New York Fashion Week
Blake Lively has been widely praised for the bold look she wore to mark her return to New York Fashion Week. The actor has been a mainstay at fashion events throughout her career, from attending runway shows to wowing fans with her ensembles on the red carpet. On Monday (11 September), the former Gossip Girl star further cemented her credentials as a style icon while attending the Michael Kors Spring 2024 show at Domino Park, Brooklyn. Lively, 36, wore a flared, floor-length nude jumpsuit with gold sequins, completed with a narrow beige belt. Her hair was styled in curls with a centre part, and she kept her accessories simple with a few statement rings and hooped earrings. In photos from the event, Lively is seen sitting front row beside former Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo. Lively’s disco aesthetic was fitting with the late Sixties and early Seventies theme of the Spring 2024 show. Her attention to detail did not go unnoticed by fans “Gold was inspired by Blake Lively,” one person wrote on Twitter/X, while another crowned her the “ultimate disco queen”. In May, the A Simple Favor star skipped attending the Met Gala, an event she is usually a reliable presence at and co-chaired in 2022. After confirming her absence, she shared an Instagram Story revealing that she spent the evening pumping breast milk. Lively gave birth to her fourth child with fellow screen star Ryan Reynolds in February. Their elder daughters were born in December 2014, September 2016 and October 2019. Speaking to ET Canada in April, Reynolds, 46, spoke about expanding their family and the difference between having four children. “You know, two to three was a huge jump…three to four less so,” he said. “I cannot speak for my wife, but it’s just from what I’ve observed. But, we love it. You know, we would be idiots to do this again if we didn’t love it.” Lively’s next on-screen project will be the highly anticipated adaptation of the bestselling Colleen Hoover novel It Ends With Us. When the first pictures from behind the scenes spread online in May, fans were divided on their thoughts on whether Lively and co-star Justin Baldoni looked like the lead characters they’d envisioned. Homeowner ‘opens fire on Danelo Cavalcante’ after he stole rifle from Pennsylvania home
A homeowner reportedly opened fire on escaped prisoner Danelo Cavalcante after he broke into his home and stole a .22 caliber rifle. A man fired seven times at Cavalcante after the convicted prisoner broke into his home in East Nantmeal on Monday night, FOX 29 reported. Police have not confirmed the shooting or if Cavalcante was injured. Pennsylvania State Police have been contacted for comment. Cavalcante, 34, escaped from Chester County Prison on 31 August, days after he was sentenced to life without parole for stabbing his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandao, 33, to death. He is also wanted for a 2017 murder in Brazil. A manhunt was launched by police to find the convicted murderer, who police have described as extremely dangerous. Pennsylvania State Police said its search is now centred on South Coventry Township in Chester County, warning locals that the fugitive is armed and that they should “lock all doors and windows” as a precaution. It comes after police responded to reports of gunshots in Coventryville Road in East Nantmeal Township on Monday night. Philadelphia ABC station WPVI reported a homeowner shot at someone matching Cavalcante’s description. Officers reportedly recovered the green hoodie and shoes the prisoner was pictured wearing over the weekend. Since his escape from prison, there have been almost a dozen sightings of Cavalcante but he has continued to elude a massive manhunt, police said. Police said they believe Cavlcante has changed his appearance since his escape, shaving his beard off to evade police. Cavalcante was spotted near Phoenixville in northern Chester County overnight on Saturday wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, green prison pants, and white shoes. He was driving a white 2020 Ford Transit van with a refrigeration unit on top, bearing a Pennsylvania registration plate ZST8818, police said in a statement. Authorities subsequently recovered the van after it was left abandoned and with the keys inside in East Nantmeal. Cavalcante was also spotted twice near Chester County Prison on 8 September, according to police. He was spotted again late on 9 September. Footage released by prison authorities of the convicted murderer’s dramatic escape from prison showed Cavlcante crab-walking up a wall in the prison yard, pushing through razor wire and making a dash across a roof. On Monday, Pennsylvania authorities said they had expanded the search perimeter by 10 miles to Phoenixville in their manhunt for Cavlcante after he stole a transit van and drove to the homes of former associates. A corrections officer who failed to report his escape was fired. England to resist Republic of Ireland approach for Lee Carsley
The Football Association will resist any attempt from Ireland to appoint England under-21 manager Lee Carsley, should Irish boss Stephen Kenny be sacked. Ireland have just suffered successive defeats to France and Netherlands and while those would otherwise be respectable performances, they come on the back of a series of poor results that have now all but ended the hopes of Euro 2024 qualification. While Kenny is widely expected to be given the rest of this campaign, a failure to claim a play-off place - which is now dependent on results in other groups - could well end three difficult years in charge of the Irish team. A former Irish international, Carsley has long been admired by the Football Association of Ireland, and is seen as the next main target for the senior job whenever that may be. He bolstered his growing reputation in the summer with England's first under-21 European Championships victory in 39 years, beating Spain in the final. That has only added to Carsley's value within the FA, though, where he is seen as the sort of figure who could eventually succeed Gareth Southgate as senior manager. While there would be the expectation that England go for a more established club manager when Southgate eventually departs, a growing school of thinking is that the international game demands different qualities. Southgate himself is one of a few examples from high-profile European nations who have succeeded by promoting from the underage squads. There has been a feeling Carsley's year-to-year under-21 contract could mean he is attainable by Ireland, but any approach would be met with resistance by the FA. Other names that have been mentioned in circles around the top of the Irish football hierarchy are Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and even Rafael Benitez. While the latter would be hugely expensive but potentially open to the job in the future, McKenna is seen as even more difficult due to Ipswich’s huge investment in a Premier League promotion push.
