Drake has hit out at Dillon Danis after the mixed martial artist, who lost his boxing match to Logan Paul over the weekend, called out the rapper for betting $850,000 on him to lose. After months of back-and-forth beef, Paul and Danis went head-to-head in the ring on Saturday. The YouTuber won by disqualification in the six-round clash due to Danis attempting to try an illegal move on Paul in the form of a guillotine choke. The hyped-up match even had Drake betting on what the result would be, and he put his a whopping bet on Paul to win by KO. The rapper's 'cursed' betting history had Paul's fans worried for a while, though. He previously bet on Paul's brother Jake last year to win in his fight against Tommy Fury, but for the first time in his boxing career he lost. But this time round, he chose the winning fighter. Meanwhile, Danis wasn't too happy when he found out Drake had bet against him as he took to Twitter to diss the God's Plan rapper as he wrote "850 on my head is disrespect," in reference to Drake's track 'I'm Upset'. With this, he also posted a screenshot of Drake's bet as well as a photo of himself with the rapper. Drake then responded to the tweet from Danis by uploading to his Instagram Story some sort of fan cam of Paul's WWE stunts and his recent win in the boxing ring, before panning the camera on himself and showing his £850,000 bet on Paul winning. (And of course, his song 'I'm Upset' was playing for the duration of the clip). Elsewhere, there is confusion around whether Paul's win by disqualification means that Drake lost his bet or whether the bookmakers Stake would honour the disqualification as a win. In Drake's Instagram Story, the image of his bet appeared to show that Stake classed the DQ as a technical knockout, meaning that Drake won his $1.3 million payout, while The Sun also reported that Drake won his bet too. His shoes have been worn by everyone from Diana, Princess of Wales, to Beyoncé, but legendary designer Jimmy Choo said his greatest achievement is setting up his own fashion school. Professor Choo – as he’s known to his students – set up the JCA London Fashion Academy in September 2021, calling it his “dream”. “I feel very proud – I know my dream has come true,” he told the PA news agency ahead of the masters students presenting their final collections. “My father said to me: whatever you learn, put it back to the industry. So we are lucky we have the JCA – I can put all my spirit and my knowledge, [and] give back to the students.” Before becoming a professor, Choo, 74, made his name with glamorous high-fashion footwear. After moving from his native Malaysia to study in the UK, he set up his eponymous brand in 1996 – designing heels for Diana, as well as being worn on red carpets all over the world and getting a nod in an episode of Sex And The City (when Sarah Jessica Parker’s fashion-obsessed character Carrie Bradshaw famously laments: “I lost my Choo!”) He’s delighted with the JCA Academy, but in a nod to his glittering career, Choo added: “I’ve had a lot of proud moments, from personally designing shoes for Princess Diana and other incredible VIPs [to] seeing emerging designers that I’ve mentored succeeding in their careers.” And while he’s an industry veteran, Choo said he’s still constantly learning. “The best piece of advice I received was to learn as much as possible,” he said, which is particularly important in the fashion industry where “everything changes”. He said: “The material, design, machinery, fabric – everything changes. So you have to adapt. Whatever you do, you must learn something.” Sustainability is one of the biggest areas of change in the fashion industry. “Now people [are] talking about sustainability – how to help the environment and that kind of thing,” Choo explained. “Everyone has to think about the future of the earth – if you spend so much and waste so many things, nature will be in trouble and so will we.” He looks to his students for inspiration, who “never fail to amaze me”. “Sophie Park was one of our footwear designers who made shoes out of plant-based materials such as cacti, pineapple and leaves. Olivia Black and Polly McKevitt both have collections made out of deadstock and materials that would have otherwise been discarded.” Choo enjoys working with young people because “they will listen to you”, and added: “They’re also very down to earth, willing to learn – that’s very important.” In turn, Choo emphasises to his students the importance of asking questions. “You have to ask why,” he said, giving the example of making a suit that doesn’t fit right and questioning why you can’t button the jacket up. “Because you’ve cut the pattern wrong, so your button cannot close. [With] only one inch, you made the whole thing difficult. The key to success, according to Choo, is collaboration – something which isn’t necessarily the norm in the highly competitive fashion industry. At the JCA, he said he never wants anyone to think they’re “better than you, [or] you’re better than me”, he said. “If you’re better than anyone we should share their ideas and the whole thing benefits. We cannot be selfish.” It’s something he suggests is missing from the wider fashion industry. “Of course it’s important to own your ideas, but creativity flourishes when you can bounce ideas off other people. Russia has lost 127 tanks, 239 armoured personnel vehicles (APVs) and 161 artillery systems in a week, Kyiv has said as Vladimir Putin launches a sustained assault in the east of Ukraine. Moscow’s forces lost eight tanks, 25 APVs and 33 artillery systems in the past day, Ukraine’s General Staff said on Sunday. The Independent cannot independently confirm Kyiv’s numbers which come after Putin claimed Ukraine‘s counteroffensive “completely failed”. “As for the counteroffensive, which is allegedly stalling, it has failed completely,” Putin said in video remarks posted to social media by a Kremlin journalist Pavel Zarubin. Will Smith has opened up about Jada Pinkett Smith's new memoir Worthy after a string of bombshell revelations were made in recent weeks. The pair have been secretly separated for the past seven years according to Pinkett Smith, who recently appeared on the Today show with Hoda Kotb and now on Jay Shetty's podcast to discuss her life. On an episode of On Purpose, Shetty read a message from a "shocked" Smith after reading the book. "I just turned the final page of Worthy," the I Am Legend actor penned. "It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place." He continued: "It’s one thing to hear anecdotes at a family barbecue, but it was truly overwhelming to take in your story, potently condensed in this way." Mikey Johnston has warned the Netherlands not to underestimate the Republic of Ireland as the Dutch attempt to book their place at the finals of Euro 2024. Barring an unlikely sequence of events which would hand Ireland a play-off place, they will not be in Germany next summer, but the Netherlands will be if they can take maximum points from their remaining Group B fixtures against Stephen Kenny’s men and Gibraltar next month.
