Bologna’s leaning Century Garisenda tower has been sealed off by police, following fears that it could collapse. The 154-foot tower is the counterpart to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and now has a 16-foot barrier erected around it (estimated to cost £3.7 million) to prevent any debris causing damage or injury. It first closed in October after sensors detected it had begun to lean, however, the council are now dubbing the situation ‘critical’. A civil protection plan to preserve buildings nearby is now in place.

Elon Musk has suggested that OpenAI may have discovered “something dangerous,” leading to chaos at the company. He made the comments after the research organisation recently fired and re-hired its CEO, Sam Altman, under mysterious circumstances. Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, said that he had attempted to find out what happened behind the scenes, but had failed to do so. The billionaire had reached out to numerous people working at the company, including Ilya Sutskever, a chief scientist and board member, who is believed to have led the rebellion against Mr Altman, but had not heard anything. Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria, has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first to successfully breed protected crocodile tegus. The two offspring, born on 23 November, mark a significant achievement for the world’s oldest zoo and the conservation of the semi-aquatic predatory lizards native to South America. Originally seized in the Netherlands, the parents of the offspring were residing in a Belgian zoo before transferring to Vienna in 2021. Crocodile tegus, targeted by smugglers for their value, are listed in CITES appendix II. Successful breeding provides valuable insights, contributing to their protection outside their natural habitat. The birth of a rare rhino calf at Chester Zoo was caught on camera. A zookeeper captured rhino Zuri giving birth to an eastern black rhino on Sunday, 12 November. “So far, the pair have been inseparable and the little one is feeding regularly and already gaining in size and weight,” says Rhino team manager Emma Evison. The birth will help in preserving an endangered species. Fewer than 600 of the species are left across the African wild and are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). F1 driver Lando Norris expressed his concerns about the Las Vegas Grand Prix track moments before his heavy crash during the race on Sunday (19 November). The fastest man in the world has spoken out about being at one of the fastest circuits on the calendar as he attends the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Usain Bolt declared “The speed is great” as he prepared to watch the qualifying races on Saturday (18 November). Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Vegas itself is such a big entertainment city, so to actually bring the Formula One here is just brilliant. We have heard about it for a while, so for it to actually happen is beautiful.” The athlete also spoke of his admiration for Britian’s Lewis Hamilton.
