Gamers are boycotting Starfield because players can add pronouns
A handful of gamers have erupted across social media due to the option to select pronouns for characters in the game Starfield. The role-playing game (RPG) allows players to customise their characters, including deciding which pronouns they have. The feature was discovered after the game went live on Friday 1 September for those who had pre-ordered. Bethesda, who have previously made games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, allowed Starfield players to select they/them pronouns for non-binary characters if they so pleased. But a small number of notable gaming streamers seemed extremely upset over the decision. They accused video game publishes of going “woke”. Streamer Herschel ‘Guy’ Beahm IV, known by his online alias Dr Disrespect, was outraged both at the pronoun option and the head of publishing at Bethesda, Pete Hines, having his pronouns in his Twitter/X bio, saying “it all makes sense now. Beahm also shared with his viewers that he had tried to work with Bethesda prior to the release of Starfield, but was told no due to “past controversies.” Another streamer known online as 'Heel vs Babyface', revealed his sheer lack of imagination when he screamed at his camera for two-and-a-half minutes claiming the choice of pronouns meant he was being “dragged out” of the immersive experience of the game. “Do you want to get immersed in our world? Yeah well guess what, f**king pronouns,” he screamed. “F**king gender ambiguity. F**king current-day California s**t, because that’s all we f**king know.” As expected, many mocked those who were upset over a two-second feature in a video game. One user called Heel vs Babyface “pathetic”: Others told him to “grow up”: Outside of streamers who are unable to comprehend an experience outside of their own, Starfield has received less than favourable reviews from critics for valid reasons such as poor performance and calling the title “disjointed”. Khloe Kardashian officially changes son Tatum’s last name to Thompson
Khloe Kardashian has officially changed her son Tatum’s last name, one year after his birth. A Los Angeles county judge granted the name change for the baby – who Kardashian shares with ex Tristan Thompson – on 31 August, according to documents obtained by US Weekly. In June, the publication had first reported that Tatum’s last name was initially listed as “Kardashian” on his birth certificate. Now, the 13-month old has been granted a new surname, which is the same as his father’s, officially decreeing him “Tatum Thompson”. Similar to law in other states, California law allows parents to pick if they want their child to have their father or mother’s last name. Parents can also do the combination of the two, and give the baby a surname with a hyphen in between the two last names. The law states that whatever last name is picked will be permanent, as a court order is required to change the name. In July 2022, the former couple welcomed their child, Tatum, together via surrogate. They also share a five-year-old daughter, True. The arrival of the pair’s second baby came months after they ended their on-and-off relationship, when Thompson confirmed he fathered a son with fitness instructor Maralee Nichols. In the most recent season of The Kardashians, the Good American founder has also spoken candidly about raising her son. During an episode of season three, which aired in June, she admitted to feeling less bonded to her son born via surrogacy than her daughter True, who she birthed herself. “With True, it took me a couple of days to be like, okay, this is my daughter,” Kardashian said. “With him, it’s taken me months. I love him and I love kids but, I still don’t have that complete bond.” Kardashian added that she sometimes felt “guilty” that she hadn’t bonded with her son in the same way as her daughter. “I’m like, why isn’t it the same? But I know it will be and I know, like, I don’t treat him differently. I just question myself sometimes,” she explained. Despite her challenges and feelings about her son, Kardashian also acknowledged that she was being hard on herself. “I wish I wasn’t so critical of myself because I’m very kind to everyone else,” Kardashian said in her confessional. “I’m just not very kind to myself.” “But being a mom is truly one of the most magical experiences ever,” she added. In July, Kardashian took to Instagram to share a series of photos of Tatum in honour of his first birthday. She also included a sweet tribute about her relationship with her son, in which she expressed how “God knew [her] heart needed” him when he was born. “I am so proud to be your mommy. So proud of the love and laughter we have in our house. So proud of your beautiful, gentle, loving, infectious spirit. You light up every single room. There’s no denying that everyone smiles when they look at you!” she wrote. “Especially True, she is so proud to call you hers.” Read More Khloe Kardashian denies disrespecting Halle Berry and says ‘don’t tear me apart’ amid Tristan Thompson reports Khloe Kardashian reveals ex Tristan Thompson and his brother moved in with her after their mother died Kylie Jenner addresses the ‘misconceptions’ she’s had plastic surgery Khloe Kardashian officially changes son Tatum’s last name Khloe Kardashian takes swipe at ‘hater’ for insulting sister Kim What is Merkel cell skin cancer? Kanye West and Bianca Censori 'banned' after exposure incident in Venice
Kanye West and his rumoured wife Bianca Censori have been banned from a Venice boat company for life following their antics last month. West, who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021, was spotted on board the water taxi last month with his bare bottom exposed. Censori seemingly rested her head on his lap. Venezia Turismo Motoscafi has since revealed the couple will "no longer be welcome" on any of their boats. In a statement, the company said staff were "completely unaware" West had dropped his pants, as they were focusing on water traffic. "The driver had to keep a lookout for traffic and did not see these obscenities," they said. "If this had happened, he would have immediately disembarked and reported the transgressors to those in authority." They also went on to call out a "third person on board the taxi" who "obstructed the captain’s view" towards the back of the boat. It wasn't just the antics on board that caused a storm during their Italian getaway. Many people called out Censori's "offensive" outfits, some calling for her to be arrested for "public indecency". "I wish the police would arrest these two for their ignorant behaviour. They are making a mockery of the country," one furious X/Twitter user wrote, while another added: "Why won't the Italian government police or someone stop them?" Tourism website CIU Travel claims: "Walking around in beach attire or, worse, shirtless, is a huge no-no in Italy, unless you have your feet buried deep in the sand." Selena Gomez goes viral for her reaction to spectacular Lionel Messi shot
Selena Gomez has become a new meme after she couldn't hide her reaction to Lionel Messi being spectacularly denied a goal by keeper John McCarthy. In a celebrity crossover nobody expected, the cameras were on the Only Murderers In The Building star during the MLS Game between LAFC and Inter Miami. when LAFC's goalkeeper John McCarthy denied Inter Miami a 2-0 lead with his stunning save of Messi's strike. Clearly, Gomez was engrossed with the game as her eyes widened and jaw dropped at what she had just witnessed - and she wasn't alone as standing below her was rapper Tyga who similarly had the same reaction on his face. "Selena Gomez was all of us watching John McCarthy deny Messi," the MLS official Twitter/X wrote, sharing Gomez's reaction. Since then, the brief clip of Gomez has caused plenty of reactions from fans of the singer/actor and footy supporters alike who noted its meme potential. In the end, Inter Miami came out on top and won the game 3-1 with goals from Facundo Farias, Jordi Alba and Leonardo Campana with Messi denied a goal in this match. Meanwhile, another clip is circulating online of Gomez where she showed her support for the Argentine football legend as she was asked: "Can you leave a message to Leo Messi?" To which she replied: "Yes, I love you very much." Messi joined Inter Miami in June this year after departing from the French club Paris Saint German. Elsewhere, it's not the first time Gomez has become a meme this year as last month a photo of her wrapped up in a blanket and staring off into the distance went viral.
