As it is the month of August, it's no surprise that Taylor Swift's song August is a currently trending, as people on TikTok have been using the music in videos to channel their main character energy. But a new spin on the trend has seen people's pets take center stage as they are dramatically spun around as Swift sings in the song: "Back when we were still changin' for the better / Wanting was enough / For me, it was enough / To live for the hope of it all..." From dogs, cats, to a hamster, a goat, even a racoon and a hedgehog are some examples of the animals being spun around as part of the trend, with many looking bewildered at their owner's actions. "At no point should an animal deliberately be put in a position to feel fear, anxiety, frustration or experience pain for the benefit of human entertainment," Central Behaviour Officer Daniel Warren-Cummings told Metro. "Cats in particular will experience extreme stress by being swung or spun around and it could even cause them physical harm." "In the videos highlighted, the cats are showing clear signs of distress. Even more disappointingly, these are being described as cute or funny in the comments section by people who appear to count themselves as cat lovers. A 22-year-old food delivery driver revealed to Insider, that he deliberate hangs around affluent neighbourhoods to try and make as much money as possible. Jay is a 22-year-old based in Philadelphia who delivers food on his bike for DoorDash and Uber Eats as a “weekend side hustle”. He shares his delivery experience with his over 140,000 TikTok followers, but never shows his face. Both DoorDash and Uber Eats include a base payments for drivers. These base payments depend partly on the distance of the delivery, occasional incentive fees to entice drivers, and any up-front tip the customer includes. Jay explains that the base pay is a large factor in how he decides which deliveries to take. Jay’s base payment is on average between $2 and $2.50, although some could be as high as $4.50. When a delivery offer comes in as low as $2 or $2.50, it means that the customer did not tip up front, according to Jay. It is possible to tip drivers after the order is delivered on both DoorDash and Uber Eats, but Jay told Insider that he was not interested in potentially wasting his time after delivering an order. Therefore, he mainly only accepts orders with the highest payments, and declines roughly 75 per cent of the order he receives. “I’m not doing this to gamble. I’m doing this to make money,” he said. “So I’m not really interested in playing the game of, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll do this person’s delivery for a guaranteed $2.50. Maybe it might be more.’ I don’t play that game. It’s a two-block delivery, and it ends up paying me $20 because this person doesn’t want to walk two blocks in the winter cold.” Jay added that winter is when his pay increases because there are fewer driver to compete with, and many don’t want to go out into the adverse weather conditions. A woman who was chained to the floor of a Kentucky home for two days was freed by police in a dramatic rescue that was captured on newly released body-camera video. Louisville Metro police responded to the dilapidated house on Bolling Avenue around 7pm on Wednesday after neighbours reported hearing cries for help. The doors and several of the windows were barricaded, forcing officers to break in through a second-storey window where they came face-to-face with the distressed woman. Chilling footage shows the unidentified woman sobbing hysterically as police reached her. She was bolted to the floor with screws that were attached to a chain and secured around her neck by a MasterLock. Moises May, 36, who was arrested two days later, was keeping the woman locked up following an argument that turned violent, according to the police report obtained by WAVE3. The woman had left the night of the argument but returned the next day to collect her belongings when Mr May locked her inside a deadbolted room after taking her phone, police said. Mr May, who lives at the home with the woman and their child, allegedly chopped her hair off with a machete, forced her to strip down before he chained her to the floor and threatened to kill her. “You’re gonna get it tonight. I told you the next time you leave and don’t come home, I’d kill you,” Mr May reportedly told her, according to the police report. The woman’s cries for help were finally heard after she managed to break the second-storey window. When officers reached the woman in the grimy room on Wednesday evening and struggled to free her from the chains, she can be heard on the video telling the police that her captor kept the key to the lock on his keychain. “The woman had a chain around her neck, which was secured by a MasterLock, and that chain was bolted to the floor with screws,” the department said. Police located a hatchet in the home and were able to cut through the chain and free the woman. She continued to cry and shake as she was led outside to be treated by EMS. Mr May was arrested two days later and charged with one count of kidnapping, intimidating a participant in the legal process, wanton endangerment, assault, terroristic threatening and harassment. His bond was set at $100,000 and he is scheduled to reappear in court on 28 August.
