UNITED KINGDOM: Mr Olympia winner Neil Currey died at the age of 34, according to his former coach.The cause of the death is uncertain for now.
Milos Sarcev, a Serbian bodybuilding celebrity, announced the awful news in an Instagram tribute on September 11, 2023.
The cause of death is unknown, while initial reports stated Milos' Instagram post indicated Neil died by suicide.
Milos' original Instagram post, however, has been modified and contains no mention of suicide.
Following the news of Neil's death, tributes have flooded social media.
RX Muscle, which styles itself as the authority on bodybuilding news, shared a statement on Instagram.
They wrote, “Stunned and beyond saddened by the tragic news that Neil Currey has passed away at the young age of 34. We pass our most sincere and deepest condolences to Neil’s family, friends, and to all of his fans around the world.”
Currey was commended by Canadian bodybuilder Fouad Abiad, who said, "His work ethic was second to none and he had so much potential that was still untapped."
Currey's death comes just days after the death of famous women's professional bodybuilder Lisa Lyon, who died at the age of 70 following a battle with cancer.

Neil Currey went against some of the top competitors in the world, finishing first in the New York Pro in 2022 and punching his ticket to the Mr Olympia competition.
Currey then participated on the Mr Olympia stage later that year in 2022, finishing 16th in the Classic Physique category.
