South London rapper Stormzy has become the latest celebrity to become the owner of a sports team after buying part of his hometown club AFC Croydon Athletic. Alongside Crystal Palace footballer, Wilfried Zaha, and the former head of player care at Palace, Danny Young, the trio has agreed a deal to buy the non-League club. According to a statement, “the consortium will own, operate and develop their childhood hometown football club”. The statement continued: “While completion is subject to legislative and governance procedures, the three consortium members are excited about developing a community asset in the borough that gave them their own opportunities. “They hope to take the entire community on this exciting journey with them.” Stormzy and Zaha made the announcement on their respective social media pages, with many left excited about the opportunities it may bring for AFC Croydon Athletic which currently competes in the Combined Counties League Premier South Division in the ninth tier of English football. Another wrote: “Giving back to the ends. Love to see it.” Someone else commented: “Black excellence.” With the acquisition, Stormzy and Zaha become two of many celebrities who have begun to invest in the sporting world, as Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds Rob McElhenney famously bought Wrexham football club and recently acquired a stake in the F1 team Alpine. A German tourist who went missing in a wildlife park in northern Zimbabwe was found alive by rescuers three days later. Andreas Hoberg was found in “good health” on Tuesday at the Matusadona National Park, said the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority. Before going missing, he was last seen at a park shop buying a drink before going for a game drive around 3.30pm on Saturday. By 6pm, the car rental company he had hired for the safari was unable to locate him on the GPS tracking system. Tinashe Farawo with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority said the rescue involved deploying a helicopter, several vehicles and sniffer dogs to scour the remote wildlife park. “We were gravely worried. We are happy he is well. He says his car developed a mechanical fault. It’s a white car, so we were hopeful we would find it,” he said. The age of the German tourist was not revealed. Zimbabwe’s 1,400-sq-kilometre Matusadona National Park is inhabited by lions, buffaloes, leopards, elephants “and all the expected dangerous wildlife found in the bush”, Mr Farawo said. The park is flanked by Lake Kariba in the north and two perennial rivers – the Ume and the Sanyati. The park gets its name from the undulating Matusadona hills that form part of its water-rich landscape. In 2020, Zimbabwean authorities reported the recovery of two park rangers’ bodies, who, after arresting four poachers, were later thrown into Lake Kariba by the suspects. The rangers had detained the poachers overnight before attempting to take them by boat to Kariba town. Gordon Ramsay has been mercilessly mocked online after sharing the supposedly inspirational advice he received from his father-in-law. The celebrity chef was talking about getting the money together for his first flat with partner Tana back in the day, when he asked her father, Chris Hutcheson, for a loan. Speaking to Jake Humphrey on the High Performance Podcast, the celebrity chef recalled how he asked Tana’s father, Chris Hutcheson, for a £20,000 loan to buy a flat. “We were young, we were stupid, we were skint,” Ramsay said. He explained how he took his father-in-law out for a meal and asked him about lending money, despite driving around in a “flash” Porsche at the time. “He said ‘Okay, here’s what I’ll do. I’ll have another lunch with you when you sell your Porsche,’” the chef said. “I thought, you f***er. But, you clever f***er. Here I am driving around in a flash 911, and we didn’t even have a house, a flat, a roof over our heads. It was the best advice he ever gave me: Sell your f***ing Porsche.” Safe to say, people didn’t exactly find the story about selling a Porsche to fund a deposit all that relatable. There were people queuing up to take the mickey on social media after Humphrey posted the clip on Twitter/X, with one writing: “Great advice, just going to sell my Porsche and ask for £20,000 so I can buy a place to live. Housing crisis solved.” Another joked: “This is an incredibly powerful message. If you need money, don’t just sponge off someone else. No. Sell your Porsche.
