Father of eight Mick Jagger has shared some of the lessons he’s learned about parenting. The 80-year-old singer addressed how his approach to fatherhood has changed over the years during a recent interview with The Guardian. His eight children range from ages 52 to six years old, as he welcomed his youngest son, Deveraux, with his current girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, in 2016. Speaking to The Guardian, Jagger confessed that even when he welcomed his eighth child, he still had a bit to learn about fatherhood. “You get a bit out of practice – it’s not like riding a bike,” he said. “The more children you have, the more laissez-faire you get about them, to be honest. And it depends on the child.” The Rolling Stones frontman reflected on how he’s enjoyed seeing his children develop new passions as they’ve grown up. However, he also acknowledged that there were a few moments in his children’s lives that he missed out on due to his busy career. “They have their own personalities and you can mould them to a certain extent, but you see their likes and dislikes and encourage them to do things they gravitate towards,” he said. “It’s fun to have children, at any age. But if you’re working and always away, you don’t get to enjoy it quite as much.” Jagger also explained why his approach to parenting is different with his youngest son, in comparison to his other children. “I wasn’t working so much, so I was able to spend more time. And then we had the lockdown – he’s only six, and two of those years I did almost nothing [with the band],” he said. In addition to Deveraux, Jagger has seven children from previous relationships. In 1970, Jagger welcomed his first child, Karis, 52, with actor Marsha Hunt. The next year, his ex-wife Bianca Jagger gave birth to their daughter Jade, 51. He shares daughters Elizabeth, 39, and Georgia May, 31, and sons James, 38, and Gabriel, 25, with actor Jerry Hall. In 1999, he and model Luciana Gimenez Morad welcomed their son Lucas, 24. This isn’t the first time that Jagger has spoken candidly about his family. Last month, he hinted that the Rolling Stones’ post-1971 catalogue would be donated to charity rather than sold for a profit to his children. “The children don’t need $500m [£412m] to live well. Come on,” Jagger told The Wall Street Journal. “You may do some good in the world,” the “Old Habits Die Hard” singer added, suggesting that the catalogue may end up going to charity. Earlier this year, his partner opened up about raising their six-year-old in the midst of her busy schedule. After debuting her first novel, titled First Position, Hamrick described some of the “magical” trips she’s taken with her partner and son, including a safari in Botswana and South Africa. She told The Times in June: “Mick had been joking with me, ‘We’re going camping.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to go camping. I’m not a camper.’ We got there and I was like, ‘This isn’t camping.’” She described how her family prefers to live at different residences at a time, before acknowledging how important travelling is to her and Jagger. “Just full nomad. We want to travel as long as we can until school gets us,” she said. The former dancer also noted that her child has a tutor who travels with them, as the six-year-old is enrolled in a school in Los Angeles and “goes [to school] a little bit when we’re in France”. A 22-year-old food delivery driver revealed to Insider, that he deliberate hangs around affluent neighbourhoods to try and make as much money as possible. Jay is a 22-year-old based in Philadelphia who delivers food on his bike for DoorDash and Uber Eats as a “weekend side hustle”. He shares his delivery experience with his over 140,000 TikTok followers, but never shows his face. Both DoorDash and Uber Eats include a base payments for drivers. These base payments depend partly on the distance of the delivery, occasional incentive fees to entice drivers, and any up-front tip the customer includes. Jay explains that the base pay is a large factor in how he decides which deliveries to take. Jay’s base payment is on average between $2 and $2.50, although some could be as high as $4.50. When a delivery offer comes in as low as $2 or $2.50, it means that the customer did not tip up front, according to Jay. It is possible to tip drivers after the order is delivered on both DoorDash and Uber Eats, but Jay told Insider that he was not interested in potentially wasting his time after delivering an order. Therefore, he mainly only accepts orders with the highest payments, and declines roughly 75 per cent of the order he receives. “I’m not doing this to gamble. I’m doing this to make money,” he said. “So I’m not really interested in playing the game of, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll do this person’s delivery for a guaranteed $2.50. Maybe it might be more.’ I don’t play that game. The New York Times, reported last week that delivery drivers tips have decreased since the pandemic. And as inflation continues to influence people’s financial decisions, and may mean people cut back on delivery tips. Alix Anfang, an Uber spokesperson, told Insider that tipping had increased since 2020. “Food delivery has always had a high tipping rate, but the average tip on a delivery increased even further by about 20 per cent” Anfang said. Speaking of waiting around in wealthier areas to get better tips, Jay shared “I’ll sit in Rittenhouse Square in the park, and I’ll get an order that’s from a fancy Italian restaurant. It’s a two-block delivery, and it ends up paying me $20 because this person doesn’t want to walk two blocks in the winter cold.” Jay added that winter is when his pay increases because there are fewer driver to compete with, and many don’t want to go out into the adverse weather conditions. Lewis Hamilton accused George Russell of “dangerous” driving after the Mercedes team-mates collided at 200mph in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix. Max Verstappen will start Sunday’s race from pole position ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz with British driver Lando Norris an impressive third for McLaren. Hamilton lines up in fourth, despite a bizarre coming together with Russell, who qualified 12th, on the main straight at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya. As both Mercedes men started their hot laps in the closing moments of Q2, Hamilton moved to his left and out of Russell’s tow to assume the racing line for the first right-hander corner. But the seven-time world champion was forced to take to the grass after Russell, pre-occupied with Sainz ahead of him, closed the door. Hamilton kicked up dirt from the grass, while his right front-wing endplate flew off following contact with Russell. “George just backed off,” said Hamilton over the radio. “That is really dangerous. He pulled over to the left. I might have some damage on the car.” Although Hamilton’s time was good enough to progress to Q3, and limp back to the pits for repairs, Russell was eliminated. “You didn’t tell me there was a car behind,” said Russell. “I don’t know what the hell was going on in that session. The car was bouncing. I couldn’t get my tyres working.” Both Mercedes drivers were summoned to see the stewards to explain their version of events. Russell was let off the hook with a formal warning after he was adjudged not to have checked his mirrors. Hamilton, 38, revealed he cleared the air with Russell, 25, after he moved to draw a line under their first coming together as team-mates. “It was just a misunderstanding,” said Hamilton, who qualified fifth but moved up a place after Pierre Gasly was penalised for blocking in qualifying. “I have spoken to George. I went and shook his hand and that was it.” The Mercedes drivers were closer on track than desired after Russell aborted his previous lap. “Lewis was not aware that I was starting a quick lap,” said Russell. “I was looking ahead to get the slipstream from Sainz. “It was not something that either driver necessarily did wrong, but within the team it shouldn’t happen and the communication should have been better towards us.” Hamilton and Nico Rosberg – in the paddock on Saturday as a pundit for Sky Sports – collided on the opening lap here at the peak of their acrimonious relationship in 2016. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff threatened Hamilton and Rosberg with a ban if they collided again. And the Austrian was asked if Saturday’s qualifying collision between his current drivers evoked memories of that race in Spain seven years ago. “No, it wasn’t shades of 2016,” he said, with a wry smile. “I wish we were in the situation of 2016 where we’re so quick. “But it shouldn’t happen. Team-mates should never collide – and even with another car, you should never collide in qualifying. “Lewis saw it as his last opportunity and didn’t think that George was on that line. It looks silly, but it wasn’t, it was just a miscommunication. “This is a team effort and we need to review our communications to avoid it in the future.” With Mercedes tripping over one another, Verstappen, who finished four tenths clear of Sainz, will be favourite to convert pole into his fifth victory from seven rounds this year. Verstappen heads Sergio Perez by 39 points in the standings, but his Red Bull team-mate starts only 11th after he fell off the road. It was a qualifying session to forget for Charles Leclerc, too, as he could manage only 19th of the 20 runners. Home favourite Fernando Alonso lines up ninth on the grid.
