Commonwealth Bank of Australia said it has identified the reason behind a service outage that affected some customers trying to use its digital services on Monday.
Call centers and branches for Australia’s biggest bank were inundated with high volumes of customer inquiries because of the issues and the bank told customers to expect longer than usual wait times.
About five hours after publicly noting the problem, the bank on Monday afternoon said it had “identified the cause of the issue and services are being restored.” Some payments may be delayed as the bank continues to bring services back online, it said via its official Twitter account.
About 4,000 people reported problems with the service on Monday, according to tracking site Downdetector.
