6 Donald Trump phobias you may not know about

What Donald Trump is scared of — from bathmophobia to peladophobia

Supporters of Donald Trump have speculated the former President of the United States of having multiple unusual phobias. While some of them are admitted by the veteran politician himself, many fears are just speculations.

Bathmophobia

It has been speculated that the former President is afraid of steep stairs and slopes. When the former British Prime Minister Theresa May was criticized for holding Trump's hands during her visit to the US in 2017, she told BBC’s Andrew Marr Show that she helped Trump to navigate the stairs, saying, "What you notice is that whenever he takes me down a slope or stairs – he did it up the steps at Blenheim Palace [too] – he takes my hand to help in going up the steps," per Independent. In 2017, when the White House spokesperson was asked about this alleged fear, the reply was, “No offense, but that’s an absurd question," per The Hill.

Toxiphobia

During a recent appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson revealed on the October 4 episode, "So, he, Donald Trump has, I don’t know if you know this or if anybody... this is I don’t know if… he does have a very potent fear of being poisoned," before adding, "So he uses and prefers the small Heinz glass bottles because he likes to hear his valet... whoever is serving him this meal... he likes to hear the pop," per OK! Magazine.

Fruit phobia

Donald Trump has allegedly the fear of fruits being thrown at him. He told to lawyer representing a group pf protesters, Benjamin Dictor in a lawsuit in 2022, "It’s [Tomato] very dangerous stuff. You can get killed with those things. … I wanted to have people be ready because we were put on alert that they were going to do fruit. And some fruit is a lot worse than – tomatoes are bad by the way. But it’s very dangerous … they were going to hit – they were going to hit very hard," per CNN.

Phalacrophobia or Peladophobia

Donald Trump is apparently known to fear "going bald." While peladophobia is the fear of hair loss and of bald people, phalacrophobia is defined as an exaggerated fear of baldness. Exposure to any stimulus related to hair loss causes a state of extreme anxiety. What form Trump's fear of baldness goes, we aren't sure, but during his appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland in 2018, Trump poked fun at himself saying, “Oh, I try like hell to hide that bald spot, folks. I work hard at it." His longtime doctor Dr Harold N Bornstein, revealed in the same year that he took Propecia, medication used for halting hair loss, per The New York Times.

Galeophobia

Adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claimed to have had an affair with Trump in 2006, once said to InTouch Magazine that Trump is "obsessed with sharks." Daniels added,"[He is] terrified of sharks. He was like, ‘I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.'" In 2013, he himself told “Sorry folks, I’m just not a fan of sharks – and don’t worry, they will be around long after we are gone," per The Guardian.

Germaphobia

A self-described "germophobe," Trump has admitted his obsession with cleanliness. Per CNBC, while dismissing a scandalous rumor of prostitutes urinating on his bed, Trump said in 2017, "I’m also very much of a germophobe, by the way,” before emphasizing, “Believe me.” During a 1993 interview with Howard Stern, he admitted of drinking water through straw because of the fear of contamination, per Newsweek.
