FULTON COUNTY, GEORGIA: A historic first occurred on Thursday, August 24 when former President Donald Trump had his mugshot taken after being arrested on 13 charges related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
The 77-year-old Trump, who was indicted with 18 other defendants, became the first former US president to pose for a mugshot after he was booked and fingered printed by authorities in Fulton County Georgia.
This surrender marked Trump’s fourth arrest this year. Unlike his previous arrests in New York City, Miami, and Washington DC, he was allegedly forced to have his booking photo taken in Atlanta.
As part of the booking procedure, Trump's 6'3" height and 215 lb weight were noted, and he was assigned the prisoner identification number P01135809.
He reportedly spent less than 20 minutes inside the infamous facility before being released on payment of 10 percent of his $200,000 bail, according to Daily Mail.
Donald Trump's mugshot sent internet into a frenzy
After his release, Trump took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his mugshot with an all-capital letters caption: "Election interference. Never surrender!" He also shared the link to his 2024 presidential campaign in the post.
In the photo, Trump was seen casting a stern look in the direction of the camera. The former president appeared to be wearing his typical blue suit and red tie in the shot.
The mugshot sent social media into a frenzy, with supporters drooling over former POTUS. Hollywood star Roseanne Barr also swooned over Trump, tweeting “Trump’s mugshot is so hot!”
“I didn’t want to say it but, yes, that is a handsome photo that happens to be a mugshot” one user gushed while a second said “It's gorgeous! Perfect! GLAMOR MUGSHOT!”
“Agree! He really brought the attitude. Masculinity is sexy despite what the woke maniacs try to tell me” a third user wrote.
The fourth user also swooned over Trump, saying “It gives old school gangster vibes. He’s like fine wine."
Why being arrested was 'a terrible experience' for Donald Trump?
After his release, Trump allegedly called Newsmax host Greg Kelly to complain about his arrest.
''A terrible experience,'' he said, adding "I came in, I was treated very nicely. But it is what it is. I took a mugshot. I had never heard the word mugshot. They didn't teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance."
He also told Fox News Digital that he was "not comfortable" during his time at Fulton County Jail. "They insisted on a mugshot and I agreed to do that," he said. "This is the only time I've ever taken a mugshot. It is not a comfortable feeling - especially when you've done nothing wrong."
He then continued by noting that the booking was part of "election interference." “It was a very sad experience, and it's a very sad day for our country,” he expressed. Trump told Kelly that the prosecutors in Georgia were 'maniacs', describing them as 'vicious animals'.
