Breaking down the Wyndham Championship payout distribution and prize money for 2023 at Sedgefield to see how the purse will be doled out.
Nerves were clearly being tested at the 2023 Wyndham Championship as the players around Sedgefield Country Club from Thursday's first round and on were thinking about trying to get in the FedEx Cup Playoffs or improve their standing, not the least of which were guys like Justin Thomas, Adam Scott and Billy Horschel.
While Thomas and Scott were making runs to get into the Top 70, though, Horschel was trying to make a big impact. He jumped out into a share of the 54-hole lead with veteran Lucas Glover, also trying to get into the PGA Tour's postseason, giving him one of his only chance of making it to the playoffs as he needed a win or solo second-place finish to get in.
Russell Henley, the 36-hole leader, was trying to play spoiler for both Glover and Horschel, though, as was Byeong Hun An, looming on the leaderboard.
All of this set up a great Sunday full of drama at Sedgefield. But let's check in on how the $7.6 million purse this week will be doled out in prize money with the 2023 Wyndham Championship payout distribution.
Wyndham Championship payout distribution 2023: Winner's prize money
The winner at the 2023 Wyndham Championship will take home $1.368 million in prize money this week. While many of the players in contention for the weekend at Sedgefield were probably more concerned with the FedEx Cup points on the line and a hope at bigger paydays in the playoffs, winning and taking home that nice chunk of change doesn't hurt either.

Again, the Wyndham Championship payout this week isn't a massive sum of prize money in comparison to other events, particularly in the playoffs. That's why the FedEx Cup points are the more valuable currency for this tournament.
With that being said, there is still a nice paycheck to be had for guys who made the cut at Sedgefiled — and a nice boost the bank account never made anyone upset.
