'Wonderful guy': Sarah Paulson says Matthew Perry helped her when she desperately needed a job

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a heartwarming revelation, Sarah Paulson has fondly reminisced about the late Matthew Perry, her co-star in the short-lived NBC series 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.'

The actress shared a touching anecdote on the Tuesday, November 22, episode of 'The View' about how Perry played a pivotal role in saving her career during a challenging period. The revelation comes in the wake of Perry's untimely death on October 28 at the age of 54.

Sarah Paulson says Matthew Perry's support changed her career

Paulson, 48, expressed her gratitude for Perry's generosity, recalling a time when she desperately needed a job and Perry stepped in to help.

The Emmy-winning actress revealed that she was preparing for an audition for Aaron Sorkin's 'Studio 60', and Perry, a close friend of her best friend Amanda Peet, took the initiative to assist her.

"I was at a particular place in my career where I needed that job very desperately, and [Matthew], because of his friendship with Amanda Peet, who was my best friend at the time, who was also on the show, they had done a movie together called ‘The Whole Nine Yards,’” Paulson explained to The View.

"So he asked me to meet him in the parking lot for my final audition, and I got in his car, and he ran the whole scene with me multiple times so that I could have a leg up on the other performer. And I did get the job. So, I sort of credit him with taking that extra time, and he absolutely did not need to do that."

Sarah Paulson cherishes Matthew Perry's infectious joy

The actress went on to describe Perry as one of the most generous people on the planet, emphasizing his willingness to go above and beyond to support his colleagues. She noted that Perry's efforts were instrumental in her success and expressed deep gratitude for his kindness.

Reflecting on Perry's character, Paulson remarked, "He was just the kind of person that if you made him laugh or if you made him smile, you felt like you had really arrived. I had the great pleasure of making him laugh a couple of times, and it made me feel really good. He’s a wonderful guy."
