NAGUABO, PUERTO RICO: Amanda Webster, a 44-year-old art teacher from Indianapolis, disappeared on October 11 while vacationing in the Caribbean islands. Puerto Rican police stated on October 14 that a body had been discovered while searching for Webster.

As of now, it has not been clarified if the discovered body is of the missing teacher, reports Fox News.

The landlord of the place where Webster was staying reported her missing when she never checked out and left behind all her belongings and rented car, said the officials in Puerto Rico in a translated Facebook post.

According to the post, the investigators found a body "upside down floating in a rocky area" of a river in the Rio Blanco neighborhood of the Sector Camino Viejo de Naguabo.

They have not stated whether foul play was suspected.

"At this stage, it is not possible to identify the gender of the body or conclude if it shows signs of violence," the Facebook post reads.

Where was Amanda Webster last seen?

Webster was last seen at the Casa Parcha guest house near El Yunque National Park in Naguabo.

The park is a tropical rainforest in northeastern Puerto Rico with trails that lead to La Mina waterfall and Mount Britton.

Authorities have stated that the body was discovered in a river where police had been searching for Webster.

"The CIC team of the Police, along with the Prosecutor's Office and staff of the Forensic Institute, are working on the extraction and identification process of (the body)," they said.

This is an alert for missing persons who are adults within the age group of 18-64, who either have a proven disability or could be in danger.

According to a Fox News report, Webster’s case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Corps of the Police, State Emergency Management staff, and the United States Forest Service.

Pamela, Webster's mother, has thanked everyone for their "support and prayers" on social media in a Facebook post.
