LEWISTON, MAINE: Schemengees Bar and Grille on Lincoln Street, co-owned by Kathy Lebel and David Lebel, was one of the places where mass shootings took place in the small New England town of Lewiston on the night of October 25.
The carnage, which began around 7 pm, was reported from at least three locations, as per the Lewiston Sun Journal.
The bar and grill was the second location to be hit, as an active shooter was reported from multiple locations.
Law enforcement received the first call about a shooter at a bowling alley, Sparetime Recreation, where a children’s event was happening at the time, Lewiston Councilor Robert McCarthy told CNN.
The third reported shooting was at a Walmart Distribution Center shortly after 8 pm. However, Joe Pennington, a spokesperson for Walmart, reportedly stated, "This shooting did not occur on Walmart property. The (distribution center) locked down like everyone else and police searched the facility. We’ve accounted for all associates on the clock. There were no injuries,” per Portland Press Herald.
Kathy Lebel was not at Schemengees Bar and Grille during the attack
Kathy said that she was told of a person walking in and starting to shoot, prompting the staff to run out, in conversation with the Sun Journal.
“It was just a fun night playing cornhole. … It’s the last thing you’re expecting, right? I still feel like this whole thing is a nightmare,” she said.
Lebel was among the dozens of people outside Central Maine Medical Center who were trying to get information about friends and family. Among the others was a man whose friend was not answering his phone after going to Schemengees for cornhole night.
