BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: A desperate search is underway to locate a missing Goldman Sachs analyst, who mysteriously vanished after leaving a New York City concert early Saturday morning, July 29. John Castic, 27, was last seen at around 2.30 am, leaving The Brooklyn Mirage near the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn following a performance by electronic music group Zeds Dead, as per NYPD.
Castic’s last known location was near 1133 Grand Street — about a half mile from the concert hall, as per sources. A missing person flyer states that he was last seen sporting khaki trousers along with a white and navy blue floral shirt. He apparently told his friends that he was getting an Uber home to his apartment in Manhattan's Lower East Side, according to Daily Mail. After he didn't return home, his friends reported him missing on Sunday, July 30. One of Castic's best friends, Sara Kostecka, provided details concerning his disappearance in a Facebook post on Monday, revealing that the pair was meant to be present at her brother's forthcoming wedding.
Who is John Castic?
Castic, described as being 6 foot 3 inches and weighing 180 pounds, graduated from DePaul University and began working as a senior analyst at Goldman Sachs in August 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile. Sharing details regarding his disappearance, Castic's friend Kostecka wrote in a Facebook post that "One of my best friends, John Castic, went missing after the Zeds Dead show Friday night in NY. Any information would be greatly appreciated, as well as sharing this with anyone in NYC that might have seen him." She added that she had heard rumors about patrons being asked to "hop in a taxi/cab from some creepy people" near the music venue.
"I’m supposed to walk with him to my brother's wedding next week … we just want to find John," she added. Kostecka stated that she has known Castic for seven years, emphasizing that he has never been unreachable, as per Fox News. Another of his friends, Jonah Shales, said that Castic's phone had died and had not worked since. "We're absolutely very worried about him. No one has had any contact with him," Shales stated. Notably, Castic is the second individual to disappear in the past several weeks after visiting The Brooklyn Mirage, one of three performance halls located at the Avant Gardner with a capacity for 6,000 spectators.
Karl Clemente was found dead after he went missing from a gas station near The Brooklyn Mirage
Just a few weeks before Castic’s disappearance, another person identified as Karl Clemente, 27, went missing from the same venue. Clemente was with friends on June 11, hoping to get into The Brooklyn Mirage at around 9 pm but was turned away by doormen, on suspicion of having been under the influence of alcohol. He reportedly departed and made his way to a nearby gas station, where people frequently wait to order beverages and snacks before contacting Uber or Lyft to take him home. However, he suspiciously disappeared and was never contacted by his friends. Days later, his body was found in a creek behind a lumber warehouse on June 16, and police said they do not believe his death was suspicious and is still under investigation.
