Despite the online trolls, fans went on a mission to uncover the real identity behind one of Pete's biggest supporters on Twitter, the account @JoeSmith1355, which has since been deactivated. Surprisingly, it didn't take much effort for sleuthing fans to reveal the truth.
During an episode of the 'Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers' podcast on June 28, Pete Davidson shared an amusing anecdote about his mom's response to Twitter comments during his early years on SNL. Pete described the situation, saying, "My mom made a f--king fake Twitter account under the name @JoeSmith1355 and would respond to everyone. But it was so specific, like, 'Actually, I heard he's working on himself and does that quite often.'"
Mother power
No matter the investigative method, Pete was delighted to know that his mom had his back and was standing up to the trolls on his behalf. It is clear that Amy is a devoted and supportive mother, not resorting to a burner account, but openly expressing her love and admiration for her son and his sister, Casey Davidson, 25, on her public Instagram account.
On Pete's 29th birthday in November, Amy gushed about him in a heartfelt post, saying, "Happiest birthday to you Peter! We love you, and you have made us laugh since the day you were born! Have the best day!!" It's evident that Amy takes pride in her son's success and isn't shy about expressing her affection for him and his accomplishments on her social media platform.
Pete’s SNL days were numbered
Pete Davidson revealed in March that he wasn't in on the joke when it came to his high-profile dating life affecting his standing on ‘Saturday Night Live’. After joining the show as a featured player at the age of 20 in 2014, Davidson shared how it felt to see himself being mocked on the show while sitting in the back during the cold open, which often included topical and political humor.
During an appearance on Jon Berthnal's ‘Real Ones’ podcast, Davidson expressed his vulnerability, stating, "Then you’ve got to walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark and the show just made fun of you. So, why are they laughing at you? Like, they just dogged you in front of everyone. And you’re like, ‘I’m a fucking loser, man'".
