Who is Daniel Giraldi? Disgraced Oklahoma prosecutor jailed for 30 months after moonlighting as thug called 'Vegas G'

OTTAWA COUNTY, OKLAHOMA: A former Oklahoma prosecutor, Daniel Giraldi, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for his shocking double life as a thug under the alias 'Vegas G', trading sexual favors for legal help and providing drugs.

Giraldi's illicit activities, which began in February 2019 and lasted until his arrest in April 2022 after they came to light, culminated in a federal prosecution that has now concluded with his conviction and sentencing, as per Daily Mail.

Daniel Giraldi's corrupt activities under the alias of 'Vegas G'

During his tenure as an Assistant District Attorney, Daniel Giraldi, 45, took on the sinister alias of 'Vegas G' and engaged in a web of corrupt activities. He carried out favorable legal actions that worked to the advantage of defendants and even provided drugs in exchange for sexual favors.

These actions included dismissing charges, eliminating traffic violations, and reducing bond amounts, a breach of trust that shocked many.

Federal prosecutors in 2022 charged Giraldi with multiple counts, including bribery of a public official, interstate travel in aid of racketeering, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and use of a communication facility in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Following his indictment, Giraldi entered a plea agreement, resulting in his guilty verdict on one count of possession of Oxycodone with intent to distribute and four counts of honest services fraud.

Giraldi's fall from grace was marked by his admission of defrauding the citizens of Oklahoma and the Ottawa County District Attorney's Office of their right to honest and faithful services that he owed to them.

He acknowledged taking bribes in exchange for corrupt official acts that favored defendants under the plea agreement.

To settle the case, Giraldi had to relinquish and forfeit his Oklahoma Bar License, with an agreement to never seek reinstatement.

He is also permanently barred from holding any public office or a position of public trust within Oklahoma.

Daniel Giraldi had previously worked as a criminal defense attorney

Before joining the District Attorney's office, Giraldi worked as a criminal defense attorney.

During his career, he earned the nickname 'Vegas G' from a former client, Bryan Young, who revealed Giraldi's shocking practice of accepting sexual favors from women in exchange for helping his client's associates and providing various services.

This week, the disgraced former prosecutor was sentenced to 30 months of prison time, which will be followed by three years of supervised probation upon his release.

US Attorney Clint Johnson expressed his disappointment in Giraldi's betrayal of public trust, emphasizing his duty to act with integrity and competence as an Assistant District Attorney.

"Daniel Giraldi disgraced the office of Assistant District Attorney. As a public servant, he had a duty to act with integrity and competence. Instead, he violated the law and the trust placed in him by the District Attorney and the people of Ottawa County," Clint Johnson said.

"Investigators with the Miami Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and FBI were unyielding in their pursuit of justice in this case, thus ensuring Giraldi’s conviction," Johnson further declared.

FBI's elaborate plan to catch Daniel Giraldi red-handed

As the extent of Giraldi's criminal activities became increasingly evident, the FBI orchestrated an elaborate plan to apprehend him. In one crucial encounter, an FBI informant contacted Giraldi as he was leaving the Ottawa County Courthouse.

She requested his assistance with a child custody case, which he had previously dismissed in exchange for sexual favors.

In explicit terms, Giraldi reminded the woman of their previous sexual encounters, which took place near the courthouse.

The FBI covertly recorded the entire conversation, providing damning evidence of Giraldi's misconduct.

Further text messages between Giraldi and the informant revealed his wish to engage in sexual encounters in exchange for his assistance.

On April 14, 2022, the woman proposed an arrangement where she would provide him with sex weekly for a year if he postponed another woman's court date.

The FBI had recorded a phone call on the same day, during which the woman asked Giraldi to use his position as an assistant DA to search for any outstanding arrest warrants against her.

The conversation also included discussions about a pending sexual encounter, with the woman requesting that Giraldi bring Xanax with him.

The meeting day arrived, and the woman directed Giraldi to a residence in Quapaw, where the FBI apprehended him as soon as he produced a bag of drugs, leading to his arrest.
