Who is Cara Lamb? Robert Card’s ex-wife went into hiding with son during manhunt for Maine mass shooting suspect

LEWISTON, MAINE: Cara Lamb, 39, is the ex-wife of Maine mass shooting suspect Robert Card, whom she married in 2005. The couple divorced after two years, according to court records obtained by the New York Post.

Card was the father of Lamb's 18-year-old son, Colby. During the manhunt for the 40-year-old army reservist, his ex-wife and teenage son went into hiding.

The suspect was later discovered dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound near a river in Lisbon on October 27.

Lamb was not present at her listed address that day and a neighbor stated that he had not seen her around. When contacted by phone, Lamb declined to comment.

It had been reported earlier that Card may have been trying to locate an ex during the deadly rampage at Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation bowling alley in Lewiston on the night of October 25, and which left 18 dead and at least 13 injured.

Card's sister told investigators she believed he may have been looking for the ex-girlfriend when he was accused of shooting up a restaurant and a bowling alley, reported ABC News, citing sources. It is not known whether she was referring to Lamb or a more recent ex.

Robert Card was suffering from mental health problems

Family members of the dead accused acknowledged his struggle with mental health in recent months, revealing they thought that he was hearing voices.

According to official records, Card and Lamb were married in Brunswick on October 1, 2005. The couple jointly filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences in 2007 at the Sagadahoc County court.

The divorce agreement was amended in 2013, and made to include a requirement stating, "It is further ordered that all guns in either party’s home shall be under lock and key during which time they are not being used.”

Maine officials are yet to confirm a potential motive but stated that they are looking into Card’s mental health.

Mike Sauschuck, Maine Department of Public Safety Commissioner, said during a press briefing, "I know that we will be reviewing that information as we move forward, but that’s not an answer that we’re prepared to give today."
