Who is Adalyn Mae Hochstetler? Amber alert issued for missing 3-year-old girl last seen in Mint Hill

MINT HILL, NORTH CAROLINA: An Amber alert has been issued for a missing 3-year-old girl, who is believed to be in extreme danger. The Mint Hill Police Department has launched an extensive search for Adalyn Mae Hochstetler after she was reported missing just before 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 13.

Hochstetler is described to be around 3 feet tall, weighs around 30 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, according to Mint Hill Police. She was last seen wearing a jean skirt and pink shirt. The toddler is believed to be with her biological mother Kelsi Lyn Hochstetler, a 30-year-old white female who is 5 feet 4 inches tall and has brown eyes and hair. Authorities noted that Kelsi was last seen around 3300 Dan Hood Road in Mint Hill. Hochstetler and Kelsi could be in a 2018 Kia Optima with North Carolina license plate FFF-3959.

'She may be on the run'

Kelsi has primary custody of the young girl and is separated from her father, Cody Arant. Arant reported Hochstetler missing on Thursday after not hearing from either of them in weeks. Mint Hill police recently stated that deputies were asked to call the 29-year-old father in reference to him believing Adalyn was missing and possibly in danger. According to WBTV, Arant was last scheduled to see the child on June 19, but the mother never arrived. He claims that June 11 was the last time when he saw his daughter in person. Officers searched the mother and child's residence on Thursday but found no evidence leading to their whereabouts.

Authorities also claimed that Kelsi’s extended family hasn’t heard from her in almost two weeks. “After conducting research and speaking with extended family members it was determined that nobody has heard from the mother in almost two weeks. She may be on the run due to pending court hearings dealing with child custody. It is believed she may be heading out of state to Delaware to meet with a person she may be dating,” Mint Hill police said in a news release. There are no charges right now. Anyone with information on Adalyn or Kelsi's whereabouts is urged to contact the Mint Hill Police Department right away at 704-889-2231 or dial 911.

Harlow Darby Freeman was kidnapped at around 6.50 pm from a residence on Crest Avenue in Parrish, a town of less than 1,000 people about 50 miles north of Tuscaloosa. She was sitting in her father’s white 2009 Lexus RX350 when a thief stole the vehicle on Monday, July 10. Freeman’s desperate family noted that she was last seen wearing a tie-dye onesie and light pink shorts. An extensive search was launched find the baby girl and she was eventually found safe in Walker County on Thursday. Freeman was then examined at a children's hospital in Birmingham where she is thought to be doing well.
