Where was Maya Millete last seen? Husband Larry Millete asked spellcasters to hex wife just enough to make her dependent on him

CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA: In a baffling course of events, the husband of the missing mother-of-three Maya (May) Millete - who disappeared from her home on January 7, 2021 - has been accused of contacting spellcasters just before the disappearance. The details of the case, which is scheduled for a hearing in September 2023, have flummoxed the Chula Vista community.

Maya’s husband of 21 years, Larry Millete, has been accused of not only contacting the spellcasters to make his wife helpless enough to seek his support but was also found possessing a bloody altar with his wife’s photograph. The altar adds to the chilling details surrounding the Maya Millete missing case.

Where was Maya Millete last seen?

Maya disappeared from her home in Chula Vista in California on January 7, 2021, right before her oldest daughter's birthday. Her husband Larry claimed to have been the last person to see her. A surveillance video showed her arriving home on January 7 at around 5 pm. Two days after her disappearance, her sister Maricris Drouaillet filed a missing person complaint with the Chula Vista Police Department. Larry gave conflicting accounts about Maya’s probable whereabouts, including that she had gone hiking and to visit a friend’s place. He was arrested in October 2021.

Spellcasts and hex

Billy Little, the husband of one of Maya’s colleagues at the naval base Lou, has given startling evidence to the case which throws light on Larry’s obsession with supernaturalism and raises questions about his part in Maya’s disappearance. Little provided an image of a bloodied altar with a photograph of the couple in the middle. Four candles are burning at the four corners and blood drops can be found on the entire setup.

Little, who got involved in the case after his wife Lou asked him to help, visited Maya and Larry’s residence where he found Larry airing the home. He also noticed a few recently repaired holes in the walls and bedroom door.

While Maya’s last call was made to a divorce lawyer, Little opined that Larry was taking unnatural measures to stop getting divorced. Little said, "There are people on the internet that'll sell you for five bucks, you know, how to make a spell that will get her to be attracted to you," per CBS.

After Larry's arrest in October 2021, several other details regarding the blackmagic and spell casts became public. The Sun reported that on December 31, 2020, Larry wrote an email to a spellcaster asking for help, saying, "Can you hex to have her hurt enough that she will have to depend on me or need my help?" before adding, "She's only nice to me when she needs me or [is] sick. Thanks again. Maybe [an] accident or broken bone." He became more aggressive in his next email when he wrote to another spellcaster, "Please punish May and incapacitate her enough so she can't leave the house. It's time to take the gloves off."

What is the status of the trial now?

Per The Sun, the trial was paused in 2022 citing Larry’s mental health condition. The first few rounds of the trial already took place where evidence against Larry showing his obsession over Maya’s alleged affair was presented in court. After his arrest in 2021, he was prohibited from having contact with his children. He violated the order by using his jail cell privileges, which made the court ban him from establishing any contact with them.

Larry’s attorney Bonita Martinez said that while his mental health is now better after therapy, he is in “depression, anguish, and distress” as he cannot call the children. The murder trial is expected to begin on September 14, 2023, per Buzzfeed News. The documentary ‘48 Hours’, which details the case, can be seen on Paramount+.
