LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Police officer Taylor Wright's murder was one of those shocking cases which question morality and humanity. It brought to light how even the protectors of law are not spared from henious predators. Wright was brutally killed by her close friend, all for a petty reason.

Ashley McArthur was involved in the murder case of Taylor Wright that took place back in 2017 in Pensacola, Florida. She was arrested and then imprisoned for the crime. NBC's 'Dateline' will be telecasting an episode on the investigation of the disturbing homicide on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Who is Ashley McArthur?

Ashley McArthur was a former technician at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and a really close friend of private investigator Taylor Wright. She was the last person known to Taylor's partner Cassandra Waller to have spent time with her on the day she went missing. Ashley had told Cassandra that they both will be going horse riding and later, there was no sign of Taylor.

Taylor had apparently texted Cassandra a very strange message saying she will be away but Cassandra didn't believe that the text was sent by her. She was the one who reported her girlfriend to be missing and also helped the police recognize Ashley as the suspect.

After Ashley became the suspect, the investigation picked up from the slump, and her phone was looked into. She was confirmed to have been in the same location the day of Taylor's disappearance, where her dead body was later found. Taylor was shot in the head and loosely buried under some soil in the Cantonment farm area that was owned by the Ashley's family.

Further investigation revealed that Taylor had kept $34,000 with Ashley for safekeeping and to avoid questioning as the money was part of the joint account she shared with her ex-husband. Ashley alleged that Taylor was attempting to take over the custody of her son that she had with her ex by collecting more money.

McArthur, 42, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in April of this year. She has been imprisoned for a life sentence and is currently locked up at the Lowell Correctional Institution in Marion County, Florida.
