What was Brad Pitt's 'association' with Harvey Weinstein? Actor's link with producer resurfaces in Angelina Jolie's $250M lawsuit over French estate

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It's no secret that most moves of Brad Pitt make headlines around the globe. And his tainted relationship with Angelina Jolie is no secret, as the two have been at loggerheads since their high-profile divorce.

The renowned stars have been at each other's throats over the ownership of the French estate and winery Chateau Miraval, which the former couple purchased in 2008, reportedly to safeguard their children's future. However, things took a turn for the worse since their split, and Pitt sued Jolie for trying to sell her stake without the former's permission. Now, Nouvel, a company formerly owned by 'The Tourist' actress, has accused Pitt of being in "close association" with Harvey Weinstein, former Hollywood producer and convicted sex offender. Pitt has been known to have rubbed shoulders with the producer and was seemingly chastised by Jolie over the matter, as per RadarOnline.

How were Brad Pitt and Harvey Weinstein associated?

Jolie stated that Weinstein first made uncouth advances toward her in a hotel room, which she immediately rejected, during a previous interview with The Guardian, and she revealed not to have worked with the producer ever again. However, Jolie added that it was "hard" for her when Pitt decided to work with Weinstein.

Pitt and Weinstein worked together for Quentin Tarantino's 2009 film 'Inglorious Basterds', in which the actor played the lead role. The duo shared a business relationship once again when Pitt's noir film 'Killing Them Softly' was distributed by The Weinstein Company.

Furthermore, the 'Fight Club' actor's previous partner Gwyneth Paltrow had also accused Weinstein of sexually assaulting her on the sets of 'Emma'. At the time, the 'Bullet Train' star had publicly acknowledged Weinstein's actions. It was later revealed by Paltrow that Pitt had threatened the producer, saying that he would "kill" Weinstein if he got near the 'Shallow Hall' actress again.

What did Brad Pitt have to say about threatening Harvey Weinstein?

Pitt opened up about his encounter with the convicted sexual predator in an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour. The star revealed that he was acting on pure instinct, saying, "I just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further, because Paltrow was going to do two [more] films [with Weinstein]. I think the interesting thing is that we, Hollywood specifically, but the workplace, men and women's dynamics is being recalibrated, recalibrated in a very good way that is long overdue. And I do think that's an important story to tell."

Notably, Weinstein was accused of four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in May 2018 and is now serving 39 years in prison.
