CAMDEN, LONDON: James Corden secured his first gig in the United States since leaving 'The Late Late Show' in May 2023 after eight years as presenter.
The 45-year-old British comedian is about to embark on a new radio career as the host of the SiriusXM show ‘This Life of Mine.’
The 'Carpool Karaoke' host has an extensive list of celebrity friends, and the upcoming show will feature them heavily.
The series, set to debut next year, will offer in-depth discussions with some of the biggest names in the world. The show will delve into the life events that have impacted the guests and shaped their lives.
James Corden’s new life at SiriusXM
Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and Chief Content Officer, said in a press release: “James Corden is an incredible talent who is always pushing the boundaries of what's possible.”
“With a career that spans acting on stage and screen, developing and launching hit series such as Carpool Karaoke, and of course his iconic eight-year run as a late night host, James has been a trailblazer in the entertainment business.”
“We're so honored to welcome him to the SiriusXM family as he begins this next phase of his illustrious career and makes his mark in audio.”
James was humbled by the showering of praise from his new employer, saying: “I am thrilled to be joining SiriusXM. Scott and the whole team have made me feel so welcome as I start this new chapter.”
“It's a dream to have a space to engage in deep conversations with the people whose work and talent I greatly admire.”
James and Julia want to put down their roots
James quit his job as the host of CBS ‘The Late Late Show’ earlier this year in order to spend more time with his wife Julia Carey and their three kids.
The show aired its final episode in April 2023 and James moved back to London with Julia and their children.
In an interview with Drew Barrymore, James explained that although leaving the show was tough because he loved working there, he always knew it was just an adventure and not his final destination.
“Look it's not easy in any way to walk away from something that is so, I mean, I'll never work in a better environment than the one I work in now.”
“Nothing about leaving the show was to do with not enjoying it. I love it.”
“But the truth is it became a very easy decision because I always knew it was an adventure and I never, ever considered it to be the final destination.”
He went on to say that putting down roots in London was the right decision for him and his family.
“But I will know, at my core, that the best thing for me and the best thing for us as a family is to put down some roots in London, and it feels absolutely right in every single way.”
James and Julia plan to build a new home on the plot of a 1960s property in London.
The couple has already received permission to demolish the existing £8 million property and construct a modern six-bedroom house complete with an outdoor pool, sauna, and steam room.
