LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: This might turn out to be a long battle for Lizzo as fresh allegations have come against her. Attorneys representing the ex-backup dancers of the singer claimed that at least six other individuals have come forward and filed complaints of weight shaming and sexual harassment at work.
The three former dancers sat down for an interview with 'Good Morning America,' last week and shared their traumatic experiences working for Lizzo. “I know it's alarming to hear that Lizzo, a plus-size woman who preaches body positivity, would be fat-phobic, essentially. But I want to challenge people to understand that hurt people hurt people,” said Davis.
What are the new allegations against Lizzo?
Dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez have hired Ron Zambrano, a lawyer who specializes in employment law. He told NBC News that his firm is looking into fresh complaints.
Most of these allegations are of a ‘sexually charged environment,’ and not paying her employees. "Some of the claims we are reviewing may be actionable, but it is too soon to say," he said Tuesday evening, August 8. Lizzo's representative refused to make a comment on fresh allegations.
However, ‘About Damn Time’ stars have termed the initial complaints ‘sensational stories, and nothing but ‘ false’ and ‘unbelievable.’
'She basically started to ball up her fists'
Rodriquez also opened up about the time she told Lizzo that she want to quit as she felt ‘unsafe’ and disrespected.’ “She basically started to ball up her fists and crack her knuckles, and she was like "You're so effin lucky right now" as she's like inching her way towards me.”
The ex-dancer added that it was Lizzo’s best friend who came off the couch to physically restrain her. Davis recalled how one-time Lizzo pressured her into touching a nude performer at a club in Amsterdam, repots Daily Mail.
“She started a chant, after I said "no" multiple times,' Davis said. Further explaining how Lizzo began to chant her name, "Ari". I briefly touched the performer and withdrew my hands, and you know, everyone kind of burst into laughter 'cause me of all people they thought it was funny that I was touching this performer.
“'I kind of laugh it off,' she continued telling her story, while her voice cracked. “Sorry, I'm a little emotional about it. I even remember making jokes about it because I just was trying to get the attention away from me.”
