West Ham United want to finalise the signings of Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos towards the start of the coming week, sources have confirmed to 90min.

The Hammers went the majority of the summer transfer window without making a signing despite selling club captain Declan Rice to Arsenal for a record £105m fee.

They have since brought in two new midfielders in James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez, and the east Londoners are keen to do more business before the September 1 deadline.

90min reported on Friday that West Ham were stepping up their efforts to sign in-demand Ajax forward Kudus, with technical director Tim Steidten flying to Amsterdam to try and thrash out a deal.

Sources have told 90min that West Ham have now agreed personal terms in principle with Kudus and are continuing to negotiate a fee with Ajax. Their initial £34m offer was rejected on Saturday evening, with the Dutch side believing to be holding out for a further £4m in add-ons.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart centre-back Mavropanos has arrived in England to undergo a medical ahead of his £21.3m move back to the capital. The Greece international was previously on the books at Arsenal but failed to make much of an impact at the Emirates Stadium, though has since rebuilt his reputation in the Bundesliga.

Mavropanos was spotted in attendance at London Stadium for West Ham's comprehensive 3-1 win against rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Nayef Aguerd gave the Hammers the lead with Carney Chukwuemeka equalising for the Blues before the break. Michail Antonio put the hosts back in front before Aguerd was sent off to set up a nervy finish, but Lucas Paqueta scored a stoppage-time penalty to seal the points.
