MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Fans of TLC's 'Welcome to Plathville' have been speculating about a probable breakup between stars Ethan and Olivia Plath ahead of the show's return. Sophia Meggs-Roberts, Olivia's sister, stated that the pair had called it quits.
Sophia said in a post on the social media account Realiteasquad that Olivia and Ethan, both 25, "are in the middle of a divorce."
But Olivia was quick to put a stop to the rumor, insisting that her sister's words weren't reliable. She reacted to the post by advising supporters to be cautious about what they think and where they get their information.
"A friend informed me of this post so I just wanted to take a second and clarify," Olivia stated. "Sophia is my younger sister, but her and I have a very distant/strained relationship due to our worldviews and reactions to the ultra-religious world we were raised in. Subsequently, she actually isn't a reliable source when it comes to my personal information as she doesn't know about my personal life."
"There is a lot of speculation going around," Olivia said of her marriage, "but if Ethan and I had something to share, we would. Thanks!"
Fans, however, continue to believe that the couple is on the verge of divorce, pointing to various obvious red flags.
Olivia has removed any indications of her spouse from her Instagram profile, despite her assertions that she and Ethan are still in a relationship.
Her last photo with him came in September 2022. The pair was photographed hugging while dressed in similar clothing. Olivia and her husband were both dressed casually in white T-shirts and faded denim. As they posed together, they were smiling.
The caption said, "Just a little appreciation post for mon amour, who makes my heart smile." She added, "Tu es mon soleil," which translates as "You are my sunshine."
Prior to that post, she uploaded photographs of Ethan on his birthday in May 2022.
Olivia used to share posts commemorating special milestones, such as Ethan's birthday, but she hasn't done so in over a year. Her most recent birthday post for her hubby was in May 2022, while in May 2023, it appears she did not create one.
Olivia has shared a lot of cryptic remarks on social media, which have piqued the interest of some. In July, she shared a long poem titled "Things to live for when the world feels hopeless." She said in the caption, "If nothing else, plant a seed."
Then, in January, she posted a text message on her Instagram about putting "yourself first."

On 'Welcome to Plathville', Ethan hasn't spoken much about his job, but his love for vehicles says it all. He is open about his desire to restore classic automobiles and, if feasible, collect them.

That's most likely due to Ethan's profession as a mechanic. He stated in one of TLC's bonus episodes focused on Plath family members that he has always been interested in machinery and how things operate. With his passion for vehicles, it made sense for him to pursue a profession as a mechanic.
He may someday build his own business, especially if he and Olivia are generating a little extra cash from being on 'Welcome to Plathville'.

In fact, she took Ethan's sister, Moriah Plath with her to work in San Francisco for a job back in Season 1. Moriah relished the opportunity to leave her parents' home and explore somewhere fresh and adventurous. It also served to highlight Olivia's importance as a photographer.
