Romeo Doubs' praise of new Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love could be seen as a shot at Aaron Rodgers.
With Aaron Rodgers going over to the New York Jets this offseason, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs will have to catch passes from Jordan Love now.
Doubs is only entering his second NFL season out of Nevada. While he did improve as the year went along with Rodgers as his quarterback, he is left with no choice in the matter now. Love is his starting quarterback for at least the next two seasons… Green Bay is a regression candidate this year for obvious reasons, but it shouldn't stop Doubs from being optimistic about his guy, right?
Here is what Doubs said to Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin's Dennis Krause about Love's abilities.
Doubs may have kept it simple, but if you wanted to make a mountain out of a mole hole in this situation, this could be seen as a slight dig at Rodgers. I don't think it is, but one could argue for it.

This really comes down to how Doubs' quote lands with you. At this point, he has been teammates longer with Love than he was with Rodgers, albeit not by much. As a rookie last season, you better believe Doubs got plenty of reps in practice and in the offseason with Love. So they may have a great rapport already. However, Doubs' comment says more about the team than anything else.
I think it speaks very highly of the coaching staff Matt LaFleur has in place. It probably contributes quite a bit to the notion that Doubs feels the transition from Rodgers to Love could be that seamless. You also have to remember that Doubs didn't play in Green Bay when Rodgers won back-to-back NFL MVPs. Rodgers was certainly solid last season, but did not play at an elite level.
At this time, I think the Packers need to fully move on from the Rodgers thing. He was one of the greatest players in franchise history. He brought Green Bay a Super Bowl and brought a lot of people great joy over the years. However, you have to accept that he will have success with the Jets. They should be really good, probably better than the Packers this year, and that is totally fine!
Together, I feel Doubs and Love have the ability to make each other better, helping them achieve star status in the league. It will take a lot of work, but whoever said anything good was ever easy? For now, you have to love Doubs being fired up about having Love as his quarterback. It could be a long year for the Packers, so breathing in any positivity into the equation has to be a good thing.
Simply put, Doubs can praise Love without it necessarily being a dig at Rodgers. It's not that hard!
