'War doesn't fix anything': Fans react as Bruno Mars' sold-out Israel concert canceled amid Hamas attack

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL: Bruno Mars was in Israel’s capital city Tel Aviv on his tour, but Hamas attack has led to a ‘war’ in the country, putting an end to all events.

“Dear customers, Bruno Mars concert scheduled to take place tonight is cancelled,” Live Nation, the organization handling the event, shared on social media on Saturday, October 7.

What did event organizer say?

The Instagram post, which was originally posted in Hebrew, added, “All ticket purchases to the show will receive an automatic refund to the credit card through which the purchase was made.”

“We stand with the residents of Israel, IDF fighters and the security forces in these difficult moments.”

Mars was scheduled to perform on his second night at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv. He also shared a post on Instagram celebrating his first night entertaining the music lovers, “Last night ?,” he captioned the photo.

The militant group Hamas took the responsibility for carrying out the deadly attack which killed at least 40 people and left hundreds wounded, as per Page Six.

What did Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu say about the attack?

“We are at war,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised address. He also announced a mass army mobilization. “Not an ‘operation,’ not a ’round,’ but at war.”

“The enemy will pay an unprecedented price. Israel would return fire of a magnitude that the enemy has not known," he added.

Meanwhile, Hamas’ military wing, Mohammed Deif, said the assault is a reply to ‘the 16-year blockade of Gaza, Israeli raids inside West Bank cities in recent times, violence at Al Aqsa ( the disputed Jerusalem holy site sacred to Jews as the Temple Mount), rise attacks by settlers on Palestinians and growth of settlements.’

“Enough is enough,” Deif, who does not appear in public, said over a recorded message. Naming the attack “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm,” he said, adding “Today the people are regaining their revolution.”

At a meeting of top security officials Saturday, Netanyahu said the first priority was to “cleanse” southern Israel of infiltrators, followed by a greater retaliation in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden reacted, “This appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza.” He called Netanyahu and said Israel “has a right to defend itself and its people,” as per the White House statement.

Bruno Mars' fans also reacted to concert being canceled, "Oh my goodness, I wish the world is at peace bc war doesn’t fix anything," wrote one.

The second said, "Love him but why even plan visiting Israel in the first place."

Another wrote on X, "Such events can be disappointing for fans and are often a result of safety concerns. Hopefully, the situation in the region can improve in the future to allow for such events to take place again."

A user hoped that things settledown between the two nations, "Just praying for peace ☮️ ?✨"
