Today's USMNT rumors include Weston McKennie being in talks with Borussia Dortmund. Folarin Balogun has been linked with Brighton but there are uncertain futures for a couple of American goalkeepers.
USMNT rumors: Weston McKennie to Borussia Dortmund
Weston McKennie used to play for Schalke 04, so it would be an unpopular move with his former supporters if he was to move to their arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund. However, the Juventus player who spent the second half of last season on loan at Leeds United needs to find a club where he can get his career back on track.
ESPN has reported that "McKennie is in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move during the summer transfer window." At Dortmund, he would join a team that has Champions League soccer and will be able to challenge Bayern Munch for the Bundesliga. McKennie would also join USMNT teammate Gio Reyna at the club.
Edin Terzic's side needs to replace Jude Bellingham who has recently joined Real Madrid. Replacing Bellingham is a tough ask for a player that struggled in a Leeds side that was relegated from the Premier League.
USMNT rumors: Folarin Balogun to Brighton
There has been a lot of speculation over Folarin Balogun's future with many teams linked with the Arsenal forward. However, nothing seems concrete right now but the latest club to be mentioned as a possible destination for the player is Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to The Beautiful Game Podcast, "Several Premier League clubs including Brighton and Palace are interested in signing Arsenal's Folarin Balogun. Arsenal value the player at around £40-£50mill. Also strong interest from Germany, Italy and France."
Moving to Brighton would be a good fit for Balogun, as he will have Premier League and Europa League soccer. The Seagulls are managed by Roberto De Zerbi and are one of the most exciting teams in England.
USMNT rumors: Uncertain future for goalkeepers
Zack Steffen and Ethan Horvath both spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough and Luton Town respectively in the Championship last season. Steffen helped Boro reach the playoffs, whilst Horvath was promoted to the Premier League with Luton.
It is surprising that the two goalkeepers have not been snapped up by any clubs yet. Manchester City's Steffen has been linked with Leicester. However, he was recently quoted on Sky Sports saying "All my friends told me about this Leicester [report], but I haven't heard anything from my agent,"
Horvath's future is also uncertain with The Athletic (subscription required) revealing that Luton Town turned down an option to sign Horvath.
