UEFA have revealed whether they will take any further action against Marcus Rashford after he was sent off in Manchester United's Champions League defeat to Copenhagen.

The Red Devils stand on the brink of elimination at the group stage after losing 4-3 in Denmark prior to the international break, claiming just three points from their opening four games.

Erik ten Hag's side looked to be heading to a second European victory of the season when an early brace from Rasmus Hojlund put them two up at Parken Stadium, but the game flipped on a controversial red card just before half-time.

Rashford was surprisingly given his marching orders following a lengthy VAR check for a challenge on Elias Jelert, catching the Dane on the ankle when trying to shield the ball. Copenhagen then struck twice in first-half stoppage time to level the scores before prevailing 4-3 at the end of a similarly chaotic second half.

Red cards in European competition automatically bring about a one-match suspension, though UEFA can extend bans if they feel further punishment is necessary.

But the governing body confirmed on Friday that Rashford's challenge did not warrant a lengthy ban and he will only be suspended for one game.

United's next Champions League match comes on Wednesday 29 November with a trip to Galatasaray. The Turkish champions won 3-2 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.

If United lose, they will be eliminated from the Champions League with one group game to spare. Ten Hag's men will also be knocked out if Copenhagen win away at Bayern Munich on the same night.

Bayern, who travel to Old Trafford on matchday six, have already secured qualification to the knockout stages as group winners after emerging victorious in all four games so far. Copenhagen and Galatasaray both sit one point ahead of United heading into the final two group fixtures.
