Trea Turner has not been what the Phillies hoped he'd be this year. His frustration boiled over on Monday with boos and an ejection.

Trea Turner signed an 11-year contract worth $300 million with the Phillies. Year 1 has not gone well.

The shortstop is batting a disappointing .249/.302/.390 with an OPS of .692 that's a career-low besides his rookie season. Defensively, he's been suspect as well, committing 10 errors going into Monday night.

You can add two more to that tally after Monday's game against the Orioles. You can also add an ejection.

Phillies fans boo Trea Turner, ejection over called strike follows

Turner committed his first error in the top of the fourth. It wasn't long after in the top of the fifth that his second error broguht out the boo birds. The only saving grace was that no runs scored from either of the errors.

Those boos clearly got to the shortstop as his next appearance at the plate ended in a wealth of frustration. After Kyle Schwarber tied the game at 1-1 with a sacrifice fly, Turner came up with a man in scoring position and two out. A called strike at the bottom edge of the zone ended his at-bat and the inning.

Turner's frustation boiled over there and it wasn't pretty. It was a rough call, but not the worst you've ever seen.

When he left the game, Turner was 0-for-3 on the night with a strikeout and two errors. The Phillies went on to lose 3-2.

As for Phillies fans, they're pretty done with Turner.

However, Turner's teammates like Bryce Harper did have his back.

"He will be ok. He is one of the best players in the league for a reason. He will get going. We trust in him to be the best. He will do that," Harper told reporters after the game.
