Tottenham confirm exits of outcast duo to Galatasaray

Tottenham and Galatasaray have confirmed agreements have been reached for the permanent transfer of centre-back Davinson Sanchez and the loan of Tanguy Ndombele.

Colombia international Sanchez signed for Spurs in 2017 and impressed playing alongside Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in central defence. However, the 27-year-old lost his regular spot in the north London club's defence and recent seasons have seen him look bereft of confidence.

Sanchez missed a penalty as Tottenham were eliminated from the Carabao Cup in the second round on penalties by Fulham last week.

Midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has also departed on loan with a €15m option for the Turkish side to make the deal permanent next year.

Sanchez spent six full seasons at Tottenham after they forked out what was then a club-record transfer of £42m to Ajax.

Sanchez was jeered by fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during a 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth in April after a difficult display in which he contributed to two of the visitors' goals. Former club captain Hugo Lloris called it the incident "sad for the club".

While Cristian Romero has kept his place in central defence for Spurs and been joined by summer signing Micky van de Ven, Sanchez has been allowed to leave while experienced defender Eric Dier is yet to be included in a Premier League matchday squad this season.

Loan exits for the likes of Alfie Devine, Djed Spence, Dane Scarlett, Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon were also hastily arranged before the summer transfer window closed.

It is Ndombele's third loan move away from Spurs following what has been a totally unsuccessful €62m transfer from Lyon. However, Tottenham find themselves second in England's top flight under new boss Ange Postecoglou after a summer of change with three wins from four games.
