NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Earlier this year, Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox News despite his ratings, and now, months later, journalist Brian Stelter has come out with his new book, 'Network of Lies,' that sheds more light on Carlson and his ouster from Fox News.

On Wednesday, this also became a part of the ‘Hot Topics’ segment on ‘The View,’ where the co-hosts discussed more about Carlson and why he might have been fired from the network. However, the internet isn’t too impressed as they’ve labeled it “old news.”

‘The View’ discusses Tucker Carlson's ouster

On ‘The View,’ host and moderator Whoopi Goldberg introduced the topic to the panel, “Now, some people were surprised when Fox News canned the most popular person on their network, Tucker Carlson.

"But an excerpt in Vanity Fair from a new book, 'Network of Lies,' sheds some new light on it, I guess," Whoopi announced.

She continued, “The book claims that it wasn't just the racism, misogyny, and election fraud lies he spewed on the air but took that misogyny behind the scenes as well, where he directed it toward female employees and executives.”

“He also apparently thought he was untouchable. So, what was the tipping point for them, given all of the, you know, stuff that he did?” asked Goldberg.

Sunny Hostin raised her hand and was the first to respond, “The settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, in which Fox agreed to pay $787.5 million. In addition, there is an unresolved $2.7 billion defamation suit filed by the Smartmatic voting technology company.”

She added, “He lost those people so much money that I don't think it's that they suddenly had a moral compass and said, ‘Oh, my goodness, he's saying these racist and misogynist things and doing these false flag documentaries, and we've got to get rid of them.’”

“He cost them too much, and in order to stop the bleeding when you have a pending lawsuit for over a billion dollars against you, you can use somewhat of a defense, saying, "We recognize what he was doing, and he no longer works for the company," which provides them a little bit of money cover, not a lot,” said Hostin.

As ‘The View’ panel continued to discuss Carlson, Fox News, and his being fired from the network and moving to X, formerly known as Twitter, the internet remained unimpressed.

Internet mocks ‘The View’s coverage of Tucker Carlson

‘The View’ faced some backlash on X, formerly known as Twitter, when the clip was shared online. One user wrote, “Oh brother, how timely. What has it been, about a year?” another asked, “Is this a new show?”

“Another day and no mention of the atrocities. Just plain gossip,” wrote one user, and another said, “Old news.”

‘The View’ continued to face ridicule, “We knew this long ago from Tucker producer. This is not a hot topic. @FaniforDA being threatened by Alabama man is. Is the show not live?” asked one user, and another said, “Yawn as usual.”
