'The View' host Sunny Hostin claims many White Republican women support Trump as 'patriarchy benefits them'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sunny Hostin, the infamously progressive anchor of The View, asserted on Tuesday, May 30, that White women who continue to back Donald Trump for president want to "protect the patriarchy." During a discussion of a recent Washington Post piece on female Pennsylvania voters who stated they would still support the former president even if he was held liable for the allegations against him, she called out married White women.

The controversial co-host said, "I think that women, white women in particular, want to protect this patriarchy here because it's to their benefit. They want to make sure their husbands do well. They want to make sure their sons do well. They want to make sure their children do well. They want to make sure they do well," as reported by Daily Mail.

According to her, most of the married, white women in several of these surveys "fall in line with what their husbands are doing, how their husbands are voting." Alyssa Farah Griffin, another co-host, then questioned her on the Democratic women who backed Bill Clinton and Andrew Cuomo as governor of New York.

'Money sometimes comes first'

Hostin said, "They think that the policies are, let's say of Clinton, is in line with their policies. But with white female Republicans, you have a Republican Party that is taking away your health rights, to decide for yourself." Griffin, however, asserted that all women vote according to a candidate's platform. She remarked that "money sometimes comes first," adding that certain members of her family concur with the Washington Post article's assertion that the economy is more significant than Trump's sex assault charges.

'I'm more concerned about the economy'

Arlene Pasternak, a woman who works in Radiologic, even told the Washington Post that she believes Trump to be "an absolute idiot." "I hate him personally. I really do," Pasternak affirmed. "But I'm more concerned about the economy and you can barely afford to live right now." She noted that despite having a college degree, she is still having trouble.

Joy Behar, a woke co-host of 'The View', even said that given her history of voting for Bill Clinton, she 'understood' why women were not detered by Trump's sexual assault charges. She said, "I knew he [Clinton] was, you know, a dog. But I loved him anyway, so I sort of get it. They sort of feel like Trump is a dog, [but] they're voting for him." Co-host Sara Haines added that regardless of whether they are White women or Black men, people have a range of diverse viewpoints, as per reports.

'We're a complicated nation with a lot of differences'

She argued, "There are 240 million eligible voters in this country," she said. "I think we heard at this table people who admitted to only wanting a pro-life Supreme Court Justice... I don't think groups are monolithic. I don't think every woman, every Black person, every Hispanic, very, you know, name every group, vote the same. I think we're a complicated nation with a lot of differences, which makes this country really magical."

However, Hostin had already made generalizations regarding the voting habits of White women. She made the controversial comparison between White women who support Republicans with "roaches voting for raid" while she was discussing the abortion debate prior to the 2022 midterm elections, as per reports.

She said at the time,"'I read a poll that White, suburban women are now voting going to vote Republican. It's almost like roaches voting for Raid. They are voting against their own self-interest. Do they want to live in Gilead? Do they want to live in The Handmaid's Tale?"
