The tragic death of Christian Glass: Six Colorado cops charged over fatal shooting of distressed motorist

CLEAR CREEK, COLORADO: Six police officers from Colorado who were present when 22-year-old motorist Christian Glass was shot dead after calling 911 for help, have been charged for failing to intervene in his killing.

Glass was shot five times on June 11, 2022, in Georgetown after he refused to get out of his vehicle causing a standoff, as he was "terrified" and having a mental breakdown, reported the Daily Mail.

Deputies Andrew Buen and Kyle Gould were indicted in 2022 on second-degree murder charges last year.

Among them, Gould gave the order to break the driver side's window as he watched the incident from a live-streamed bodycam, while not being present at the scene.

Gould has recently pleaded guilty to charges of duty to report use of force and duty to intervene in Glass' death, a class 1 misdemeanor.

He has been sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, in addition to never working as a police officer in Colorado again.

Former Clear Creek deputy Buen was the one to carry out Gould's orders, then proceeded to shoot Glass with bean bag rounds before tasing him and shooting him five times in the chest. He has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and is awaiting trial.

At present, all the other officials who were present at the scene have been charged for their roles.

What charges are cops facing in Christian Glass death?

Georgetown Marshal Randy Williams has been charged with two misdemeanor counts - failure to intervene and third-degree assault, Daily Mail reports.

Former deputy Timothy Collins, Division of Gaming Officers Christa Lloyd and Mary J Harris, Idaho Springs officer Brittany Morrow, and state trooper Ryan Bennie have all been charged with one count of failure to intervene.

DA calls for cops to be held accountable in Christian Glass death

A statement from District Attorney Heidi McCollum read, "Law enforcement officers must be held accountable for their actions when performing their trusted public service duties."

"Yesterday, my office filed additional charges against each of the six other officers who were present June 11, 2022, for failing to intervene in the events and actions of Andrew Buen, which led to Christian Glass' death."

The lawyers of the Glass family also released a statement, saying, "The Glass family hopes that the greater law enforcement community learns from this prosecution and makes changes to their policies and cultures to prevent this type of tragedy in the future."
